My forum is starting to get over run by spammers who are real people registering, they bypass the recaptcha and a knowledge required security question, then post a few vague things to topics, like "that's cool" etc before eventually posting an advert with a link in. They seem like real people doing this and I don't know how to counter it, any suggestions?

Hello, I wish to know how to change IPS completely from http to https including all the attached files, images, each and every element of the site. Edit: I have changed board url using conf_global.php to https But the user profile images is still loading http file and hence showing broken images

Good afternoon, I saw a notification in my admin panel yesterday saying my server does not meet requirements. There were a few php extensions mentioned, and something about not being able to run auto updates (?), but when I logged back in today to review things, the notification was gone. Can someone please tell me why I got this message, and I need to do to rectify this situation.

I want to create a "$1 donation" subscription, which is set as a non-renew, would this act similar to the donation feature? Or will there be some implications using the subscription system this way? The reason I want to use this is so it keeps the donations stuff with the other subscriptions (which are annual) that I have, to try and upsell users.

Hi everyone, One of my forums doesn't get a lot of activity consistently, so I'm getting a message that I need to set up a cron job for tasks. The dire warnings of what will happen if I don't do this correctly has me spooked. Please tell me if this is what I need to do: Go to Cron jobs in cPanel. Click on Common Settings , then Once per minute. Paste in the code exactly as it's given to me by my IPS software. Click add Cron job. Then go to Advanced Configuration in my ACP and change task setting to Use Cron job. Is that right? Am I missing anything? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, I just had a spammer who used private messages sent to a lot of users. I marked him as spammer but it does not delete the users private messages, and I don't see an option anywhere to do so. Did I miss something ? I think we should have a way to delete a user's PMs and that marking as spammer should be able to do it automatically. Thanks.

Hey IPB fam, I am super excited for the 4.5 update. Everything I've read (and seen in Alpha) looks and sounds awesome. However, I've also noticed I feel a little apprehensive surrounding the release. I realized what it was. I'm nervous to upgrade because of the third-party plugins, applications and themes my forum depends on. I would hate to experience any major bugs or temporarily take the forum offline to fix things in the event something breaks. Anyone else feel the same? Everything I have enabled in my forum (in my opinion) are features and functions that serve a purpose. Anything I don't use on a daily basis is disabled or has been deleted. That l…

Hi, today i had a spammer as a guest who reply to more then 40 topics. After checking the guest permission i see that guests doesn't have any permissions to post or reply in all forums. How could he reply to so many topics? I am a little bit confused.

Hi everyone, After recently discovering that nearly a 1/5 of my membership base are fake accounts, is it possible to run the spam defence stuff on existing members accounts? Would certainly make it easier than having to go through each account and unsub them from bulk email, or check bounced emails and delete accounts accordingly.

Hi Guys, About 10 days ago my server crashed, I'm not sure of the reason but she's been up and running fine since. But, I've been having issues with my forums ever since. I have contacted support but they refused to help me over ssh and require sftp access which sounds straight forward but that would result in some major file changes on my server to make sftp write permissions work. So, I'm now on my own. This is a really strange issue... I use 2 themes, my 'default' theme and a 'dark' theme. Both just lightly modified from the default theme. 99% of my registered users (130k or so) use default and i have a few hundred only on the dark theme. …

Hello! For some strange reason the word "Status" is being translated to "Enable?" on several places throughout our community. Any idea what could be causing this? I checked our "Translate" options and nothing is being translated and I have tried using the "Quick Translating" feature and it does not save after I change it from "Enable?" to "Status". I'm basically trying to set up Group Promotions to where when someone joins the forum, they are placed in a group with limited capabilities until they reach 10 posts. Then they will be moved to my 'Members' group. In Group Promotions I've set up the group, followed this guide: Just like the Guide, under Filters, for Groups I left it set to 'All Groups'. Everything else I left settings to 'All', for Content Count I set it to 'More than' - 9. Under Actions I set 'Move to group' to Member. I looked in the Categories section of Downloads, I can not find a way to disable the Star Rating system. I want to leave the Review part on, where people can write and leave a review, but since I disabled Star Ratings throughout my forum, since 99.9% of people never used it, I don't need it to show in the Downloads section. Is this possible? Thank you.

The forum has a base of 2 GB. Temporarily a large load on the server. When publishing a topic, there is a big pause, so some people click "Publish" again. Duplicates appear. Can I speed up publishing in the settings?
