What's an online visitor?

Our Cloud plans are based on the number of active, simultaneous online users your community can support. A visitor is 'online' when they are currently browsing your community, and for 15 minutes after. This includes both members & guests.

How do you measure my usage?

Our plans measure your online user count every 5 minutes, then calculate an average of the past 48 hours-worth of measurements, and it's this average which needs to be within your plan allowance. Because it's an average, spikes over the plan allowance aren't a problem if your traffic falls back to normal soon.

What happens if I go over the allowance?

If your average for the past 48 hours is over the allowance for your plan, our system will automatically upgrade you to the next plan level so that your site stays online. After the following month, you can downgrade to your previous plan, if desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use my own domain name for my Cloud community?

Yes! When you check out you'll choose a temporary *.invisionzone.com address. Once your plan is set up, simply contact our support team and let them know you'd like to use your own domain name - they'll provide instructions for you. Using your own domain name is free.

  • Can I use SSL on my Cloud community?

On our 40, 65 and 100 user plans, SSL is available either as 'bring your own certificate', or we can provide an SSL certificate for you. Both options are priced at $15 one-time setup, plus $5/month. On our 200, 450 and 750 plans, SSL is free whether you wish to use your own certificate or have us provide one for you. Please contact our sales or hosting teams if you wish to enable SSL after purchasing.

  • Can I upgrade my package?

Of course! There's no additional fee to upgrade your package at any time - simply pay the difference between your current and new plan. You can change your package via the client area, or simply log a ticket with our accounts department, and we'll make the switch for you.

  • What are 'online visitors'?

Online visitors are those that are currently actively browsing your community and those active in the last 15 minutes (when their session expires). Our Community in the Cloud packages don't limit the total membership of your community; only the online user count. We calculate on a 48-hour average online count so short-term bursts of traffic should not impact your package level.

  • Can I install new themes, modifications etc.?

The software code cannot be modified on our Community in the Cloud packages. You can however download and install new themes, applications, hooks, languages and more, and install them via your administration control panel.

  • What happens if I go over my limits?

When you get close to your package limits, we'll contact you to let you know. If the average users in a 48 hour window exceeds your package limits, we'll automatically upgrade you to our next package level. IPS is here to help you grow your community and we will work with you, communicate, and help you transition along the way. You should never worry about being deactivated for just being a few users or posts over your package limits.

  • Am I tied into a long-term contract?

No - all of our standard Cloud packages run on a month-to-month basis.

  • If I cancel, can I keep my IPS software?

You are always entitled to a backup of your data, however, software is not transferrable from our Community in the Cloud packages. To continue to make use of it outside of your Community in the Cloud package, you'll need to purchase a self-hosted license.

  • Are there any other restrictions for Community in the Cloud packages?

In addition to any individual package-specific restrictions mentioned elsewhere, please note that LDAP is not available on our Community in the Cloud or Enterprise plans. If this functionality is essential, please consider our self-hosted license option.

Please note that server resource use is monitored separately to online users, and to protect the stability of our platform, accounts may be temporarily limited if they exceed those resource limits.

Please contact us if you have any other questions - we'd be happy to help.
