Hi, So basically I'm using the chatbox application, and I want to add to one of its templates the amount of messages that have been sent. I guess I have to use \IPS\Db::i()->, but I need to count the amount of rows in a column of the chatbox table and then display it. Any ideas?

Hello, I have just installed IPS 4 and when I try to go to RSS notifications it gives a 404 error. To reproduce go to notifications -> show all notifications -> RSS. The url is like this: http://www.server.com/forum/notifications.xml It also happens when you go to: new content -> rss. The url is like this: http://www.server.com/forum/discover/1.xml This two xml files don't exist and neither does the discover directory. Is this working for everybody ?

Hello, I've been messing with the forums a lot and testing things recently. This issue started happening tonight and I am not sure of the cause. While submitting a new topic, the buttons will display much smaller than they should and do not take up the entire space. Bare with me, it's hard to explain. I've attached an image to the post to help clear up any confusion. As you can see in the attached image, the contents of the page only displays on the furthermost left side. Hello, Just noticed something. When I have a post with 10 pages and I am on the first page, I press "next" to see the next page it give me nothing,( I see a flash 'greyed-out' from what should be there) When hitting back button in the browser it gives me a spinning loop and nothing happens. Also pressing on the number " page 2 " give's me a new page but not the posts .... Using the last version of the board Regards, Kurt

Hello, I have been running a board using IPB for more than a decade now. I recently renewed my licence and downloaded 4.x, but the tutorial does not provide the answer to the issue I seem to be unable to solve. I asked my web hosting company to increase the memory limit and upgrade PHP and then I went through the rest of the process, but once I was prompted to convert the database to UTF-8, this happened. I'm interested in renewing my license, and download and upgrade to IPS 4.1. However, I should make a translation my own (as it's a greek forum) and I want to translate only the front end. Is there a way to accomplish that? In the language section of 4.1, I created a new language called "Greek" and as I pressed the translate button I found out that there is no way in this section to make it show only the frontend phases. It has every single phase (frontend, admincp, modules etc) in a page and I cant find a way to display only frontend phases. Thank you.

Currently the post feed widget shows recent replies and shows the same thread if there were multiple replies to it, but I want it to only show different threads, no duplicates. Sort of how the thread feed widget shows threads that were recently updated/replied to (if set to update like that), but Instead of just showing the thread and who made it, I want it to show who made the reply and to what thread. Hello! Sometimes I need to find members, who have a specific word in their profile. For example, all members have a profile field called 'Company', and I'd like to find all members who work, let's say, at Microsoft. So I go to 'Search the community' page, in the 'Company' field I type in 'Microsoft', but the search doesn't go through, because I left the main "Search term' field empty (I left it blank because it's designed for searching through members' usernames, which is not my case). Currently, board moderators -- who moderate the entire forum -- can approve or disapprove topics. However, in the case where you've set up specific moderators to moderate only in specific sub-forums, is it possible to allow them to approve/disapprove within the sub-forums that are their purview? Looking at the options available, the approval-related stuff seems to be under the Content tab, and most of it refers to 'all' content rather than just content within the forums they're assigned to.

Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x98\x81\xF0\x9F...' for column 'status_content' at row 1 /**********************/applications/core/setup/upg_101021/upgrade.php::55 UPDATE `*****core_member_status_updates` core_member_status_updates SET `status_content`=? WHERE status_id=? Threw that error during upgrade. Clicked retry and it threw it again. So I clicked continue anyways and it finished the upgrade. Just wonder what the error is about and if it might cause any future issues? I censored out the path and the prefix obviously just as a security.

I'm only using a small part of this function actually but I wanted to post it all to provide the big picture. There is a part of the query in this function that finds recent attachments a user has posted to the forums. The block is on the user profile. IT works but the problem is ... it's VERY slow!! Core attachments locks up for 30+ seconds and makes my site unusable. I run a mid-large size UK-based forum which looks like it might need to move from its current dedicated server - a five year old 8-core i7 server with 16Gb RAM, 2x240Gb HDD - to something new within the next few weeks for reasons outside of our immediate control. We're running 3.4 but about to update to 4.1. The current set up has run smoothly for the last 3-4 years, but issues around getting physical access to update the OS to enable us to run 4.1 mean it may now be time to move on. We have around 1000-1200 users active in any hour, usually 250-500 in any 15mins. There's a decent size database of 8m posts dating back to 2003. And we serve around 1.5m topic views…

Hi guys, I'm looking for a way to have the results displayed when looking at the sites latest ACTIVITY results to NOT display results from specific forums (i.e., such as a tech support forum). I see that you can customize some streams based on forums but how do I do this on the main activity stream? Even better would be to have the option to disable that forum from all activity streams created. Thanks - Chad
