I'm brand new to IPB 4.x. Everything is different and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the sidebar to display to the right on my main forum page. Typically, you have things there like recent posts, etc. but I don't know where the settings are and all I have is forums only.

As per title. Have done everything shown here but all I ever get is a server error caused by the .htaccess file (cannot access anything once that is added), once remove that then can access anywhere but doesn't help with making pages show under community root Anyone else have this problem and solve it or is it my system ?

I want to have a moderator who can moderator all the other moderators but still not have as much access to change forum settings as I (the Administrator) do. What is the best way to achieve this? Should I create a third group which is actually a moderator with full access while limiting all the regular moderators privileges? Or should I create a second Admin but limit his privileges? I basically need to make sure that no Administrator besides myself can hijack the whole forum and change sensitive forum code or do things like version upgrades. How have you guys handled this?

Hey guys, so I have URL filtering on so only allowed domains can be posted in the content, however I want it so the groups I choose can bypass that filter but I can't find that option? It seems kind of strange that we have a group setting to bypass all other filters etc, but I can't find one for URL Filtering..... Any ideas?

Version 4.1.7 of the IPS Community Suite is now available. This includes a security patch and we recommend you upgrade as soon as possible. This is a maintenance release to fix reported issues. This means that if you are upgrading through the Admin CP the update will take slightly longer to download and extract than normal. I see no button to press Download or Upgrade like normal. What do I do?

Hey! Just curious, IS there a limit for how many member groups you can have? Currently I have about 4 pages of them because we use it for ranks, medals, badges/titles and so forth. Im just concerned that we may hit a wall with this. Does anyone know?

Usually upgrades are down seamlessly through the AdminCP but this time I was told that I need to manually download and upload a zip file to my server. But no specific instructions were given. My question is, where do I upload this zip file? Do I just over-ride the entire contents of my /forum/ main directory?

I've made another archive thread for old listings but it seems you cannot move a thread once it's archived. So what I'm trying to do is unarchive all the threads then move them. Note that I do not want to move ALL archived threads, just the ones that are listings. Is there anyway to unarchive multiple threads at once?

Hi there, I have a few custom entries in the lang.php file in my theme. However, they only seem to work when IPS is in Designer Mode. On my live site, with Designer Mode switched off, the language bits do not appear. For example... The default "reg_connect" message is: Get started faster Connect via one of these sites. But my custom lang.php sets "reg_connect" to the following: Get started faster Sign up quickly with Facebook, or enter your details below. Either way, you can use an anonymous display name if you wish. But that only works in Designer Mode. Switch off Designer Mode, and the message reverts back to the default. Apparently this was a bug …

Are there any useful addons out there that allow instant messaging to be integrated into a forum? The dedicated "chat room" concept seems like something out of the 90's, which is why I think no one ever uses it, at least not on any IP forum I've ever been on. Even an active chat widget on the side of the forum using the existing chat feature might see some use. I searched the marketplace but did not see anything. Seems like it would be THE killer forum application, I am really surprised IP or vBulletin don't already have it. Thanks

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. If so, let me know where I should post this. I am following all plugins I have installed in my community, however I never get emails from you when the plugins are updated. I am following them with "One email per day with all new content from that day". One example is this one: It was updated twice since we've installed it and we've never got the email. I am getting emails from bug trackers that I follow, though. Gabriel.

Hello all! I just upgrade from IPB 3 to IPB 4. So far I had some glitches that are very odd but been working with support on iron out the problems. The main issue I’m trying to get through and would like some feedback on is. In IP.Content 3 one could use the built in article system that work fine and can’t really change. Now that the article was built in to IP.Content, I never really touch code and stuff so rebuilding it from the bottom up is well not going to happen due to lack of knowledge and timing to learn. Let's say I have 10 things each with 10 sub categories that repeat. Soccer Clubs by Province Hockey Clubs by Province I create Provinces with all ten. When using the copy feature for Provinces, how can I eliminate the extra part of the FURL in the subcategory? I've been figuring this out as I go along and most problems I've been figuring out how to correct them by using the "element" tool in web browsers. But, I've been having difficulty in regards to changing the font sizes for IP.Content/Pages.
