It seems that someone has already beaten me to the "Thank you Ryan Ashbrook" topic, so this will just have to be #2. Early in 2014, I decided our forum software was not up to scratch, and started looking for an alternative. It wasn't an easy decision, because I'd spent a lot of money building a custom solution in Drupal only the year before. Unfortunately, it simply wasn't adequate, and I knew I could easily spend a similar amount again upgrading it, and it would still never be at the level of a pre-built package like IPB. I know, I had to wrap my head around that title as well. My first suggestion is to immediately rename the boards to match the current nomenclature of the applications (eg. "IP.Pages" "IP.Commerce"). My second suggestion is to spin-off new boards for: IP.Core IP.Converters ACP It will help everyone better track and read feedback specific to those components.

i think now most admin will use ip.pages with the powers and simplicity that comes with it but i think admins want more field options or creative ones to ease the task when we create awesome databases and pages with it out of the box 1- one field i need when i use ip.pages is grouped fields can we have the ability to group some fields and add a name for it and display them side by side in the edit or display template something like the polls Choices (so we can generate something like this easily) after we group them admin can config how they behave like flag the group as duplicable and button will be showing to duplicate the field like the add more choice for p…

So I created a custom field select box called Country of Origin for people to fill in when they register I added a couple of countries but realized there is no way to make sure people have selected a country If for example the first option is blank or says Select Your Country then when they submit their registration the registration will automatically pick the first option There needs to be a BLANK option that forces a choice in a drop down otherwise many of those custom fields are going to be automatically filled with the first option Unless I missed the proper way to do this...

i have a few custom profile fields asking members the platform they operate on and software version. I'd like to be able to have a system where on first login they can't make a post unless they confirm the values in the fields (allowing them to make a change) and if they haven't posted in n# of days ask again - so that when they post their profile is most current.

I'm a bit befuddled, so I wonder whether anybody could give me some pointers. My logo displays perfectly on wide screens. There is a natural padding placed in the display so that it looks exactly as I want it to, even though the image itself doesn't contain any padding at all: The problem occurs when collapsing for a small screen. The natural padding that was provided disappears and the result is yucky: I tried adding padding to the original image. It now looks perfect on the small screen but too padded on the desktop and has the knock-on effect of adding padding below the user navigation because technically the logo is higher. I'm running a test installation of Beta 5a using MAMP Pro, all appears to be well, except that I get a 'Filename cannot be empty' error message whenever I attempt to add an image to a post, profile, etc. I have both gd and imagick enabled, and I get a similar error regardless of which one I choose in IPB's settings. Does anyone know what is happening here? I can see that the images are being added to uploads/monthly_2015_01/, but thumbnails aren't created, and nothing shows up in a post or profile photo, etc. The good news is that 'Remove Orphaned Files' is working perfectly. LOL!

When analyzing the speed score of the site has two resources on which I want to draw your attention. So, I attempted to upgrade a demo site (3.x) to Beta 5a. I did this by duplicating my live database. Uploading all 5a files into a new folder on my server. Copy/pasted the public and upload folder there as well. Then copied the config file. Edited the config file to point to the duplicated server. Ran the upgrader. In gallery_albums, album_last_x_images has entries like [12,10,9,6]. What do these numbers represent? Also for S3 storage, images are stored with a file name like: monthly_2015_01/large.1-1.jpg.3776f2fb163b7bd197b4b6d2c71fa4e0.jpg Where does that large final extension come from and/or what does it represent?

I'm trying to build a plugin so that whenever an invoice is generated or updated some data is sent to a 3rd-party service. Extending the \IPS\nexus\Invoice class and save() method seems to be what I need. My question - The 3rd-party service I'm integrating has a nice PHP wrapper to help structure their XML requests from a php array structure. The wrapper is split into three .php files. What is the best way of integrating this into a plugin? Where can I store these files and how do I load them? I'm aware of the autoloader but I'm not confident of how exactly it works. Thanks

I am glad that V4 is well on it's way but can anyone give me a simple answer what specifically IP V4 brings verses the IP V3 I have now? Obviously cosmetically it looks a bit different but it's seems from a function perspective it does (and doesn't do) all of the same things. Thank you in advance.

Hi, IPS4 - can you now add Custom Profile Fields that are clickable links? For example, a CPF that is a live URL to a social media profile that is clickable rather than an appearing as unclickable text? Many thanks.

Hi guys. I am trying the new beta of IPB4 on a copy of my database so that I can start getting familiar with the new interface. I am having a problem with the BBCode on my old messages. So for the first time since the Beta's have come out, the upgrader finished successfully. However, now I'm getting a 'driver error' page, no matter what page I try to access. I upgraded from 3.4.7 to Beta 4. In 3.4.x, we have four options for notifications Immediate - you get an email for every reply Offline - you get an email for the first reply, but then no more until you log in again Daily digest Weekly digest 4.0 seems to have removed the second, offline option. I struggle to see why, as for heavy users it provides a necessary halfway option between 'fill up my inbox' and 'hide everything in one long email'. I might not want to wait 24 hours to know a topic's been updated. But similarly, I don't want 20 emails about it. Am I missing something here?

I would like to suggest that, when the next google Captcha come out that IPB 4 would have it as one of there features for sure. Hello, I'm helping getting our board updated from 3.4.7 to 4.0 and one of the things that I can't find in 4.0 is how to edit the signature page for the User Control Panel For example, in 3.4.7 i was able to load the AdminCP then goto Look & Feel > Manage Skin Sets & Templates > Manage Templates in IP.Board Scroll down to User Control Panel select memberSignatureForm and edit this page to include custom php and links. However when i load 4.0's admin cp Then Pages -> Templates The signature page is no longer available.
