I've been unhappy for a while with the initial load time for the main landing page for the our site and I was getting frustrated. We are running on a VPS with 5GB Ram, shared 24 processor, running NGINX, Pagespeed, memcached, and utilising CDN (Cloudfare). I was baffled as to what would be causing page loads times in excess of 5/6 seconds, to the point I was losing faith in ever being able to get the page load time down to a more respectable load time. So today I decided, enough was enough and I disabled all sidebars, adverts, I didn't deactivate them (adverts yes) or uninstall them but simply removed them from the main page.I allowed a few hours to pass and new…

In the language tab of Pages you can change the word that it uses (ie for 'Articles' or 'Wiki pages' as I have it). I'm using Pages to make a whitelist application area for my gaming server. Can I make it so that different categories of a single database have different language attributes? So the Instructions category would have something like '4 guides' and the applications category would have something like '421 applications'. Here's the page. Is this doable?

Hello, In version 3 we had the ability to turn on the watermark for a category and still have the option to not watermark an image when it was uploading. In v4 I can only find an on/off switch for the whole category. Am I missing a setting? Thanks.

Hey guys, long time IPB user here however no experience with doing this. I am looking at taking over a VB4 site that uses a downloads plugin. I would like to convert the forum to IPB 4, and ideally use IP Downloads. Is there any converter out there that can do that? (VB4 downloads to ipb downloads).... or how much pain in the butt would it be to do? thanks!

http://origin-forums.com/ As you can see a lot of icons look like squares. This happened after I changed the value of the url in conf_global.php I installed the forums when I didn't own the domain yet. so the url was like 192.99.54.194 Today we aquired a domain, so I changed the value in conf_global.php to http://origin-forums.com/ I thought it couldn't hurt, since it's still the same vps and ip. Everything worked out except that some icons look like squares now. Anyone has any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

When creating a custom profile field, I can select Checkbox Set to allow multiple options to be selected. I'd like to know how should I edit the Display Format so that in the profile fields next to posts, only the selected options would be displayed (I'm trying to display icons based on selection). The selected options show up fine on member profiles, but that's apparently because option values are used instead of Display Format. Right now, whenever anything is selected, it will basically take whatever is in the Display Format and display as much as it possibly can. It seems to ignore any kind of php code. Hey Invision'rs? So, here are a couple of questions I have regarding RSS feeds. A: Can we have a RSS feed have a timer.. in example it'll grab the feeds and post topics at a certain time 2: Can we have it post more then just the Title and Read More link.. Can it post one image from the article its linking too as well as maybe half the text and just have it go from blabhalbhablahblahbblah...Read More. 3: can Rss Feeds grab images? Hi! I have a question about the way browser notifications work. . I can't get any approval for Facebook about publish_actions & user_status .. The IPS manual added here is outdated & not same as it should be .. I did all the necessary to show them (Facebook) what is needed .. I've made 2 screencast (video) & screengrabs but nothing that matters to Facebook .. I've reported a IPS bug before .. As a USER, how do I change my timezone? I am aware that the software automatically detects it, but what if the software gets it wrong (is that possible?)? I see in the ACP I can change it to force a specific timezone setting for a specific user, but can't find where I can to do that on the front-end.

So, I know this should not be related, but yesterday I was in my sites ACP for several hours fixing some image problems I was having. My contract ended at midnight, now when I try to access the ACP I see this: Why am I signed in as guest? I tried leaving the ACP and going back, same error. I know it could be coincidence, but I find the timing odd. I asked support to look at it, but clearly since I am 8 hours 41 minutes out of my contract, they don't have to. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I always used these in the past and ips does not use one from what i can see. I thought ok not a big deal but in webmaster tools right now i have over 15k errors mostly from several different things. Some from links with a ?do=email at the end. So does someone have a working robots.txt that wont break anything? because right now i feel as though this is hurting my search rankings? because all of the searches come back to error pages that are forbidden?

Hello, Can someone please explain the new page button? In the ipb3, we were using the [page ] [/page ] to generate a new page in ip.content. Now in pages, it only adds a line, not a page. Where can I tune that behaviour and essentially, how can I add a new page to an article? Thanks.
