Over the past day or two my site is being overrun by Chinese search bots. Currently there are about 380 "active users", all of who's IP addresses seem to resolve to somewhere in China. Is there a way of preventing these bots?

Two main questions here. Is there a way to set that, when a new user is registered to the site, it also; Sends that user's name to an external database Creats a MD5 hash of the password they chose as the password assigned to that database Also, when setting up products, when an item is purchased, can we have it send that products identifier to an external database under the registered user?

hi, I ran into a problem that a very popular email service used widely in my country 10-15 years ago went defunct and ~10% om my members have registered using that email provider which went belly up. I obviously can't email them but for those who still visit I need to get their attention with a big message to update their email. So what I'm basically looking for is a template code in which I would enter the message text, but what I have no idea how to formulate the code for the condition. so something like if user email is *@deadprovider.com then show the message. can anyone help me out? 🙂

hi, I'm using this script which makes the sidebar to become sticky. Its very nice to have but on some pages the stuttering happens as you scroll down. I can't seem to resolve what causes it. This happens on firefox and chrome browsers. Hi everyone, I'm currently doing some housekeeping, and have noticed that there are a number of accounts that appear to be created by spammers that haven't been caught by the spam defence system, or were created before moving over to the invision platform. After searching for a selection of members, clicking on pruning tells me that the action will be performed to 0 accounts, and when I click on move members it only allows me to move to a new primary group, and not a secondary (which would be useful in future searches). Is it just me that this is happening with, or is there a known issue in the software that is being investigated?

Hi everyone, We are trying to remove some of the options within the user menu dropdown but can not seem to figure out nor find online how to edit the dropdown menu. We have tried looking throughout several css files but still can not get it to work. Hi peeps, Happy New Year :) I'm having an issue since 4.4.9.1 in regards to the mobile menu displaying off screen to the right when viewing in portrait. Landscape view seems ok. I thought it may be a theme issue but the default theme also has the issue. The website/forum seems to scale down to half of the screen after the 4.4.9.2 update which does make the menu fit on the screen but we have to deal with a half sized website. Is anyone else having this issue and know of a fix? Cheers

Hi Guys - My users brought this issue to my attention and I can reproduce it pretty easily. Firefox on Windows 10 From the activity stream click on the time and date of a post The next page loads, but it loads all the way at the bottom of the page, not the exact posts that should load. Clicking refresh on the page does nothing. Clicking in the URL / address bard and hitting enter, reloads the page and users are brought to the correct post in the topic. I'm trying to follow these directions, but the WordPress plugin has changed a bit since they were written: Part of the setup for the miniOrange plugin is filling in the Username attribute name. What is it? My guess is "name"? Or maybe "formattedName"? Appreciate any help.

Hi! Within the last year, we upgraded from v2.x to 4.9, and noticed that when we delete members, their ip addresses are no longer associated with their posts on board. Does anyone know if there is a setting or plugin that allows this? We are an rpg site, and admins use the ip addresses to see which accounts (past or present) belong to which person. Any help is appreciated!

Hi folks, I'm running my first Commerce promotion with a 40% off coupon code and when I tested it, it appeared to reduce the price correctly and showed fine in the basket. I'm being told that although it's set for anyone group to use, and it can be used unlimited times but only once per member, a member is saying a message pops up saying no such code exists. Has any one else had any similar reports? Many thanks.

Hey all, I ran across this error just recently. Logins aren't working, no matter which account. Not sure why, but we do use the API to add or remove subs based on our payment system updates. At any rate, I can't log in to the board as myself, or admin. The board is still functional for viewing, as long as you don't try to log in. The databases core_members looks intact, but it's been a while since I've had to get my hands dirty troubleshooting IPS. The only log I know of is the apache2 log for the IPS web service, and it's spewing a bunch of strange errors (/var/www/forumpost.php not found...which doesn't even appear to be a part of this IPS distro, as it's…

I have just sent a bulk e-mail to my members and I discovered afterwards, that it was sent twice to each member. I am trying to find out what could have possibly caused this. I am sure I did not press "resend" . It's the second time this happens. It did happen when sending the very first bulk mail as well. I used the standard setting = all members get an e-mail regardless of their number of posts etc... I also run a staging environment on a subdomain based on a separate database. But I cannot imagine, the system would use this installation for sending mails as it is a totally separate instance of IPB. Any idea why mails are sent twice? Thanks!

Hello! I'm puzzling through what seems to me to be counter-intuitive behavior. We're using the Downloads module, trying to get it set up with employment forms & whatnot. In many cases, there is a good reason to keep the old versions accessible with some effort. But in every case I've seen we only want to offer the most recent version of the file when someone clicks the big "download button". But the current behavior doesn't match this - instead, every version of the file is presented to the user to choose the one they want to download. I would greatly prefer that the user not see the old versions unless they click through the version history specifically…

Dear folks, is there a way to hide a donation goal? At this point, if I have a campaign, and the campaign is terminated, like our annual Christmas fund raiser, I want to hide the goal and use it again next year. Because I have a standard donation goal that is up all year long to help fund our forum community. I don't like how at this point, I see both donation goals. I'd like to hide one.
