Something that is built into the forum software. Something that you can rename for your home page. Something that you can decide where to pull articles from and also who can post them. I use super topics but I have to have a forum called “x” for “x” to be shown on the blocks. Just looks untidy. To clarify, a page that you can call home and it shows articles in a gorgeous template that doesn’t require a forum to be created to be the feeder to the homepage. Like burning boards has. So I could just have permissions set to admins or people who wrote articles for me, everybody else wouldn’t see then”create article” on that homepage.

Hello guys, I don't know if it is possible on 4.5 but it certainly isn't on 4.4. Thing is that I spend time updating new versions of files in my IP Downloads section of the forum. But problem is that unless I put a widget somewhere (which I don't want to do) the news about updated versions never make it to the Stream. Only new files do. That is a missed opportunity I think. Can it be helped? @Adriano Faria do you think a mod can be made to remedy this?

I would like have an admin or moderators assigned with Password Level tool, it can be available in Moderation tools, that feature will be let me do below example: 1. Set password A (1xx1) ; password B (2xx2); password C (3xx3). Right, so this may be a long topic, and one I harp on from time to time. Now that I have moved a forum away from Invision (and over to XenForo), I'll list some of the reasons of why we made that choice, and what IPS could do better, at least from my user's experience. I'll try to break this into segments so it's not too rambling. 1. Displaying Albums above the regular gallery navigation. Doing so degrades the user experience with the software. It turns out there are still those who use Internet Explorer! And they went crazy when they came on my forum 4.5. I think IPS should have done them a warning instead of a curve layout... At least the plugin was, and then you will have to insert a hard core PHP :-)

Hello, I have many search engines that do not respect the rules of the robots.txt . Google suggests to place the sitemap file(s) in a subfolder and to protect it with a htpasswd, which is a very good idea with this method only authorized search engines can exploit the file sitemap. I did not manage to move the sitemap.php file to a subfolder.

Hello, Many search engines or robots suck up information without respecting the rules defined in the robots.txt . When a member connects to the community with their HUAWEI product, after I see in logs petal search engine downloads pictures using the direct URL. In case the Hot Link Protect is activated the petal search robots generate thousands of HTTP errors, because it keeps trying to download the photos or files that the user has viewed. The fact that the photos are directly accessible via a URL whether you are a member or not, make problems of copyright. I understand this is configurable, but it makes no sense that the default behaviour of the software is to have a different page width for posts within topics based on whether it has less than or greater than 3 pages. Obviously, having a topic summary when there are just a few posts makes little sense, so I get the reasoning but it makes for a very inconsistent ui, which displays a lack of planning or consideration around what is actually best for the user, readability of topics and so on. Has anyone looked into whether having the sidebar or not makes any difference in terms of the readability, the time spent within topics or anything along those lines?

Now I know what you’re already thinking!! Now bear with me a little to explain. I want a sort of moderation forum (instead of PMs and warnings) to notify members of issues. Not all of my moderation actions require penalization and well.... it’s double the work for a moderator to PM someone and then notify the rest of the staff that they did it. And what if two people jumped on it? It can become a nightmare. I would personally love it both on the forums and pages level to where you can basically assign a topic as someone(‘s) and only those that it’s assigned to can see it in that category/forum/etc. it would cut down on double moderation in some pl…

Can I choose Preview of last post? Is more interesting and make sense to communicate news of a topic showing the last post preview than preview of the first post. First, preview of first post will be some statict because always it will be the same content. Second, the topic title already working as the guide of a topic, it is alway the same to be identified. So if I enter to a topic page, is more engagement and functional see there with different preview content than the same content all times.

I found this suggestions area. I'm not sure if existed before but I've just noticed it. I simply quote myself from a previous thread, as I've been requesting these things since the beginning of IPS 4. To the above, I add the request of tickable boxes (or any way to select multiple topics) to move them at once following a search. At present you can't move topics delivered by a search. You need to open the topic and move it. Last, it would be very handy to have Pages (and other apps) widgets that show items in a random order (I understand this is possible but at present it takes a big toll on performance, or so I've been told). Have a search bar just for downloads themselfs for servers with alot of catagorys+sub-catagorys. Simplifys things for alot of files. What I mean is Live search/non live search directly for the same page, Rather then getting redirected to a diffrent page altogether to obtain a file that may or maynot exisit.

Back in 4.4 days I made this topic and @All Astronauts made a fine plugin to handle this. Today I'm working on a clients' forum and I bump into this inconvenience again. Please read more about it here: Since the EXPAND POST feature is now available with QUOTES and whatnot I strongly suggest that you make this work in new content stream page. My client also has tens and tens of forums and if you make a custom stream you get many lines of USELESS text where posts are shown from. Please consider to let us place widget where we can get and show Solved topics information. Inside the forum we need show the Solved topics statistics. - How many topics in a forum. - How many topics solved. - How many topics solved we want to show in the widget. Example last 10, so in the widget will show the 10 topics title and a button More. When we click to title it take us to the post marked as solved. The +1 button was a great idea but please return or improve the number of reactions here at the IPS Community forum. It's feels to me IMHO almost like we're being stifled by some dark, manipulative branding and marketing PR department or something. Reactions allowing the ability to show you you're saddened, disagree or are confused about something and help provide a balance of opinion, freedom of expression and thought. Thanks for reading.

I would like to use Forum to create a Budget, Payment Request and Approval workflow. 1. Team member A request a Payment posting a topic, there should be contain an amount field where member A put the $ amount. 2. The forum already set member C and member D as members who with permission to Mark the amount field as "Go Ahead" or "Agreed by Member X". 3. Member B can see the topic, after knowing the Payment is approved by one of 2 members (in case the other member without opposed to the Payment), member B assign the payment check and Mark a field as Payment Done. I've disabled all star ratings across our site because no one ever uses them. However, people use the reaction button all the time, every day. I can see now why Steam changed their system a few years ago so that an item's rating is based on likes instead of choosing a rating. As of now, we have no way for content to be rated. It would be nice if stars showed up based on the up/down votes. Obviously they would start off at 2.5 or 3, and then as ratings accumulate, it would push the star rating up towards 5 or down towards 1.

Commerce is great. Thank you for integrating Stripe and all of the methods that Stripe supports. Our default currency is USD. The problem is that during checkout, any payment methods that doesn''t support USD will not be shown. So our users don't know that Sofort or iDEAL are accepted because they don't show and only know that they can use those methods if they switch the currency to EUR. I would recommend making it so that all payment methods display and the currency is automatically switched in the case that the payment method selected necessitates it. We have more featured images than can appear on the gallery front page. It would be nice if the front page showed a random selection of all featured images. This would allow us to feature more content, and would prevent the gallery front page from getting stale.

FA4 was rather amazingly last updated in 2016 and almost 3 years since FA5 was released, but despite multiple requests from clients, IPS didn't/wouldn't support it. Somewhat frustrated, but fortunately not in a sexual way, we chuckled cheekily that FA6 would be out by the time FA5 was integrated, but more seriously it is IMHO still a missed opportunity as there were a lot of really good features like Pro, Duotone and Light icons and of course the super useful themed Icon Packs.
