If i set up MemCache in IPB with Mysql - all is good But why in this modern age do i need to download constants.php and then upload it to apply the changes? There must surely be a better easier simpler way ?`The reason i moan about the above is when you then re-upload all your ipb files or upgrade - you then overwrite the constants.php file and if like me you will have forgot about having to re-do the memcache setup in the ACP as it has gone back to default

An indication of topics within which I've made a post before? Is that what the "star" is supposed to be in front of the topic? If so, I think it's a little confusing as to me it would be like email, where I'd want to "star" items to review or that I'd like to follow. Or if it means I'm following them, then I'd like to know the difference, a notation for topics within which I've actually posted.

So I give up. I didn't have this on previous upgrade tests but I can't seem to find or be able to edit the sidebar. I can choose location in the theme but nothing shows up, no pre-installed widgets (like recent topics or anything installed) and when I try to edit a Pages block I get this: Any help would be appreciated. I feel like a dunce.

If a topic creator views their own thread, this is added to the view count. Is there a way to prevent this so only "other people" views are added to the view count? If that makes sense.

If I am able to map all my data to the correct fields in the IPB 4 database, will IPB read all the data correctly without issues? Has anyone ever migrated their data this way?

With this being beta software we are still getting a lot of errors. As you know there are codes listed. Where is a dictionary of what these codes mean and what we are supposed to do to resolve them? Thanks

I know it's gone from the programming (saving to the database) and the browser is supposed to save our data, but I was typing a bug report a few minutes ago and got template errors after hitting submit. I tried going to other parts of the site (from email links) and got the same errors. I left the bug report tab open and refreshed it only to see my content has been lost. No big deal, it was a small report.

We are in the process of moving our data from a really ancient CMS to IPB 4. I'm trying to sort out my approach to our data migration. The general approach would be to write a script that first creates all of the relevant databases and fields within the new database. Then, I would need to pull data from the old database, process it so that it is in the correct shape/format for the new database, and insert it into the new database. The mapping and research that goes into this project is pretty huge, so any resources are precious. Here are a few approaches that am considering: 1. Hi, As the bulk mail tool doesn't allow filtering recipients by custom profile fields, I'd like to be able to export a CSV of my members based on certain criteria. Does any one know of a plugin that will let me do this? Thanks

Is there a limit to theme size as when I try and upload a theme (3.5mb) which I create din a trial version it says there is a 2mb limit for theme uploads.

Hi, I am new to IP Board and have recently released my first site with IPB 4.0 RC1. I updated it to RC3 today and ran into some issues. One was that several pages stopped working (for example account settings). After some testing I found out that the default theme worked but not mine. My conclusion is that the default theme has been updated but not mine. As I do not want to recreate my theme every time a update is performed I would like a different solution. How do I perform this in an easy way? I remove some objects in the original theme by commenting the code as well as making a few modifications. I also change colors in the ACP (not by code). How do I keep these change…

I have IP.Pages installed with the forums. And I've got IP.Pages to load as the index. (everything is on the root of my domain) When I click to go to the forums, my website address becomes domain.com/forums - then when I actually click into a forum - it goes to domain.com/index.php?/forums/forum/3-names I hate that it has forums twice. And, on this site, forums isn't mentioned twice..... Is this a bug that I need to report? Is this something I'm doing wrong? Or was this how it was made?

Sorry, I did a little search and couldn't find the topic (I thought it had been raised before, maybe it was a bug report) - anyway, are IPS bring back the core functionality of the status updates sidebar block on 3.4.x? This allows people to reply and view status updates and replies from the sidebar block in 3.4.x but in 4.0 this functionality has been removed. I persoanlly think it's a step backwards and should be brought back. I was looking around the marketplace and there are some nice new IPS4 additions. A thought came to mind. For the FREE items: what if there was an "integration voting button" which would gauge the interest in adding the feature to IPS4. So, if the community really liked an addition that someone created, community members could vote on it and the highest voted features would be added to IPS4 (or at least seriously considered by the IPS team) - kinda like a "Change.org". Just an idea.

Hello, it could be a good idea to add a sub forum for SEO on this website to help existing and new client to improve their rank in Google or avoid majorities of error that could bring their forum down in the serps. In addition, a large part of a success of a forum come from seo optimization(or help a lot).

I have spent a lot of time experimenting with the plugin system in IPS4 and I think it's wonderful. Truly great. However, recently putting that aside and concentrating on the theme system, I strongly believe that it is lacking and must be reviewed before 4.0.0 is launched. Inability to re-order theme settings Unless I'm mistaken, there's no way of re-ordering theme settings. My themes will have a ton of settings and the inability to re-order them is laughable. Had a problem with the calendar, went into the support section of the ACP, it recommended that I delete the cache, I agreed, it did something, then my front end refused to load. Just a white screen. ACP loads fine. Checking with various browsers gives the same results. Any ideas?
