Morning/Afternoon, Is there a chance IPS can add release patches to the front dashboard on AdminCP, maybe as a widget? I've always missed released patches unless I look for them. I happened to come across the latest 4 simply because I wanted to refresh the cache. Having it on the dashboard like Latest IPS NEWS would be very much welcomed! Diagnostics System check passed You are running the latest version, but there are known issues: An issue has been identified where certain hooks may stop working on 4.1.19. If you are having problems with some third party plugins or applications, upload this file: system/Theme/Theme.php If you are e…

As I am sure you're aware, there are many forum software options available. Some really great ones too that range in price from free to very costly. Obviously you've chosen to pay IPB a decent fee for this software. I am wondering what your number one reason for using IPB vs competition is?? I will start: I like IP for their focus on money making options. (Selling banner ads, memberships and digital products.) Nobody seems to be doing this better than IP What are your reasons?

for many users they want to search for stuff but cant completely remember the name so they type incomplete names example a person want to find a topic called ABC DEF but ends up only remembering and searching ABC DE and that would yield 0 results if you have the search phrase to "and" sphinx never had that issue, it would had resulted the precise result of ABC DEF even though he searched for incomplete name of either both words even though search type was set to "and"

The Chat on the bottom is much more accessible and less of a hustle than to have an additional window open. There already is an implementation: http://www.arrowchat.com/ Cheers

It would be great if, writing an article on a topic, you could do what can already be done with Blog posts - that is, associate the article with both Gallery media and files (either individual or category/album). I know you can insert links and/or upload attachments, but perhaps it would be more streamlined to associate with existing content so the writer wouldn't have to duplicate information that's already contained in a Downloads or Gallery entry?

Hi, Can u please fix this in 4.2 version. coz status r not being counted in content but status likes are. mostly my users they update status and in their profile page content are 5,6 and Reputation are 100+ coz of status likes. my suggestion is if status content are not counting then status likes shouldn't count also. 1 thing is counting and an other is not. method should be similar for both or an option in ACP for status likes and content counting would be better. Sorry for my bad english but really need to fix this thing.

I get this all the time... "Can I block seeing posts from another member"? Not sure if this is of any interest to others, but I thought I would throw this out there.

In previous versions, for as long as I've had 4.x installed, editing a post even immediately afterward (as an admin) would show me an "edited by" comment. Only three of my groups can "edit silently" but that just means the checkbox appears to give an option to notate the edit. Since upgrading to 4.1.19, no "edited by" content appears. For example… https://thesandtrap.com/forums/topic/93148-two-strokes-for-ob-instead-of-strokedistance/?do=findComment&comment=1295143 was posted March 10, before 4.1.19. It was edited and has the "edit_name" and "edit_time" in the forums_posts table in the database. But IPS is not showing the edited by or time stamp. C…

The default Unread Content stream is set in the ACP to show everything, but on the actual page it shows as 365 days. The drop down looks like all content is selected, but it still displays 365 days. Seems the same here. It was not like this before 4.1.19.

Hi, I read about your upcoming feature which does make sense. I think it's pretty common that posts/user generated content is usually never deleted as space is so cheap nowadays. Is there a reason why you wouldn't offer a "never delete content" option? Edit 2: Why does this section/thread require approval?

I started this bug report: @Matt closed this bug report and commented: There have been more discussions on this topic, but I did not see a bug-report. maybe it was also removed. Off-course it is not a real "bug causing the forum not to work", but the way this function is designed now, it will always proxy an external image, even if it is from a https-source. I think the change should be: check if the "image URL" is "http://" -> then operate as it is now. If URL is "https://" just do nothing. The main reason for this proxy function is browser-errors if you operate a https forum with mixed content. Nowadays (with letsencrypt) every forum can (should) u…

The ability to to remove the Forums title from the front page, and the ability to control where the breadcrumbs show up ( top only, bottom only, not on front page etc). Using a custom plugin and css me and the other admin were able to get it done on our site, if you'd like a look for visual reference. On a side note Full CKEditor compatibility would be really nice too.

It would be really great to have the option to do a custom widget layout per sub-forum. With the variety of functionality offered, and the ability for members to create and share more, it's easy to feel shorted with the amount that can fit on the front page alone. Given the option, I would love to have various widgets positioned at key points around in various the sub forums. Without having them show up everywhere else too. Perhaps a widget list, where each has a toggle switch for universal or local?

I know that there are plans to remove Linear + and Outline (Threaded) mode in IPB 3.2. I can understand this because I don't think anyone uses Linear +, and Outline mode only really works if people hit the "Reply" button next to a post and not the "Add Reply" button. With the use of the "Add Reply" button it defeats the purpose of a Threaded mode because every post ends up under the main one. While I understand this and do think it's warranted, I think there is a lot of value in a Threaded style board. This would be an efficient way to accomplish threading (each topic has it's own tree). You could have the main posts table keep the parent_id relationship it has, but hav…

I think a members and groups should be able to hide and this should be configurable via the ACP. I liked Permission Sets for this reason. Where'd they go? If a site has 20 groups they ALL show up in advanced search and it looks obnoxious and confusing. Also allowing members to have anonymity and not be stalked, time stamped and followed would be nice—especially on small sites (and all sites start small).

Will you let the admin decide which filters gets to be an option (if any) in sort menus? Ascending and Descending are all we can use for most of the files. We've been asked to remove the rest on two instances and there's no option to. I like the idea of a community running itself with these ideal sort options, but you just added them one day years ago and never thought that some end-users did not want nor could support them. Maybe I'm missing a setting but I can't disable rank either.

Has the bug tracker changed to limited access? I don't see the link anymore in the menu drop-down. Since I was following the bug tracker(s) I still get notices but only the beta bug tracker is available, no archive or current version.

It would be nice if Security updates would be free, even if your license is expired, to get rid of the red nagging banner notice. I know you guys have already discussed this with others, but I have to voice my concern that this should be something that can be dismissed in the front end. If you can't dismiss it, then you should provide the security updates for free. This seems like an unethical way to get people to keep "subscribing" to your updates. You need to stop treating system admins like we are children that don't understand the risk of not forking over more money for security updates. /rant over

I've often wondered why this is not something we can pick and choose for where we'd like to see Reputation buttons. It would be nice to only have this enabled on certain forums. On a guild forum that I manage there's a plugin for a Thank You/Like system which allows you to choose what forums you want to enable it on. Example screenshot of some of the settings: Upon seeing this it made me wonder why we don't have those kind of options for the Reputation system here with the quality IPS software. I hope this can be a worthwhile addition that we'll see sometime in the near future.

The admins can manage any group, but wouldn't it be better if we allowed any user to be able to manage a specific group? Say, we choose a group leader within the ACP, and that leader will be able to add and remove users from that group only. The idea is very simple. Although, there might be some difficult things to do, like: the leader should be able to add someone to his group without removing that person from other groups; when the leader removes someone from his group, that person should receive back as primary group his previous primary group (the group he had before he was added to the new group) etc. I had someone make something like this for me but has a few b…

With v4, when editing a user group there is a setting "Can delete own content?" which allows them to globally delete anything and everything of their's on the forum. It's no longer possible to configure what they can specifically delete, ie: posts vs topics, gallery albums/images, etc. In the particular case with our forum, we want users to simply be able to manage their own galleries. Regularly images are uploaded by accident, duplicate uploads, etc. users need to contact a moderator in order to have their images deleted. Because we don't want to allow them to delete their forum topics/posts. Is there any way you allow us to define what users can delete again? …

I'm still waking up over my morning coffee so I have no idea if this is a worthwhile idea or not. Can't brain today...have the dumb. Nevertheless, I wonder whether or not an option to log terms used in Search may be helpful, especially for large sites where Admins might want to know patterns and trends in what users are looking for across their sites. Or, say, log terms which have more than X occurrences in a certain time period. This might help Admins and Moderators pin, feature or otherwise highlight popular content, or provide more content based on what large groups of users are looking for. I guess this is related to @superj707's previous topic re: st…

Hello, I have had a Lifetime license which was converted to standard license when IPB 4.x was out. I have been offered an account credit instead of free upgrade which has now expired. I was fine with no updates, but the problem is that there are now security patches in current updated version which I cant apply without renewing my license. It seems unfair to me that you are leaving customers without active license off of security patches. Basically it means that I should either renew the license or let anyone hack my forum. That also means that those servers could become a threat to other internet websites, if someone hack and take control over them. I h…

I LOVE statistics. It's one thing that keeps me motivated to keep trying to build up my sites. Currently: User facing stats are nonexistent mostly. ACP stats aren't very useful. IE: not readable, etc. Examples, This number isn't even formatted with commas, much less I am supposed to figure out what that means when it's listed in KB? That's thrity-five million, five hundred and seventy three thousand Kilo Bytes?? UGH!! That doesn't mean anything to me. And then there is this, Why are these lines so thin? It feels like not much thought or effort has really gone into quality stats. I would love to see some glo…
