Is there anyway possible to get rid of that annoying loading symbol when you navigate pages in threads? On most forums, including our own, it at minimum takes 3 seconds and at most 8-10 seconds before going to the next page. Quite annoying really. Honestly, I hadn't noticed it myself really until I joined IPB3.4 forums recently and noticed it doesn't exist there and sites that run on other forum software. But this is starting to bug me so is there anyway to fix this?

We need to rebuild our server due to old php and mysql so the upgrade from 4.1.3.2 is not going to go through How critical is the upgrade from 4.1.3.2 to 4.1.4.1 because I have to wait for a good week now with the holidays then there is a lot of testing to be done If there is a hole somewhere I need to plug it but I can t do it for a week...can I just replace the old files that are in the patch on the server and wait? would that at least patch the hole even if the upgrade is not run?

Hello, I would like to redirect the users visiting site.com to site.com/portal. If I set Portal as the default app, then when the string 'forums' is added to every urls coming from the Forums app, for example: site.com/forums/forum/... site.com/forums/topic/... which I want to avoid. Is there a way to: Either redirect site.com to site.com/portal. while keeping Forums as the default app (using .htaccess for example). Or set Portal as the default app and remove "forums" the urls? Aloha, I have an IPS board installed on my server -- and updates have been working smoothly when I do the normal manual updates (by downloading from client area and then FTP'ing to my server). But is it possible for the board to update automatically now? It seems like the recent versions have the capability to download updates automatically and install them... But when I get to "Step 3" it downloads & expands the files and then says: "Manual Action Required" And I know how to install it manually... But what's preventing "Step 3" from installing it automatically? Do I have folder permissions set incorrectly for the automatic install t…

after upgrading to 4.1.4 then 4.1.4.1 have lost the ability to post! the box where you would enter text just is not there ... cant reply / send bulk mail etc as the is no area to enter text (the box area is missing) guessing its a simlpe fix but things like cache clearing in support doesnt work. scrap that figured it out..... error was due to php7.0rc went back to php5.6 and all fine..... dissapointed as php7.0 so much quicker...

In Version 3 I could select a page of PM's with one click and then delete them. In Version 4 the only way I can find of deleting multiple PM's is to select each one individually and then delete the lot. Am I missing something? Many thanks Bill

Hello, Seems we have gotten some issues with Databases and records, as you can see on our website there are news with images. Nothing happens when you press one of the news, its starts to reload the page and then nothing. You are back on the front page, HOWEVER the URL is changed to the correct seemingly correct one. Ive doublechecked the permissions on both the catergory and record but guest should have full read access :s No ticket is created yet. Has anyone integrated a Google CSE into their IP.CS 4.x site? In an ideal world I'd like to simply make the "All Content" search use our CSE, and the other searches use the built-in search. As an alternative I could make the CSE box appear to the left of the built-in search bar, but I'm having a hard time making the CSS work, some of Invision's CSS selectors are grabbing the CSE divs and mucking up the formatting.

Hi I have set up a small group of Members as Moderators, to Moderate just one forum with very limited permissions. However I DON'T want this group to access the ModeratorCP. Is it feasible to remove the link just for this group from the menu under their name? Many thanks Bill

Hi, A friend of mine wanted to help me to edit the css files of my forum. Since he doesn't know IPB, the first thing he did in the ACP was to enable the developer's mode. We then disabled it, but my forum is now broken. The theme doesn't show correctly anymore and I have to enable the dev's mode to display my forum normally. But the dev's mode broke some of my plugins. So my question is: how to disable the dev's mode without breaking the forum's theme ? Thank you !

Hello, I have a question about the Background Tasks that are done immediatlly after the upgrade from 3.x to 4.1.4. So I have added /usr/bin/php -d memory_limit=-1 -d max_execution_time=0 /var/www/html/domain.com/main/applications/core/interface/task/task.php 893483489389489ahr88 and I see it run in cron but I see essentially 0 CPU utilization and 0 mysql usage in 'top'. In 12 hours its only done Updating Attachments storage URLs 1.37% Deleting legacy topic data 24.95126705653% Deleting legacy post data 8.9390386869871% Updating Attachments storage URLs 1.6% And 0% for everything else. I just got the notification today to update to 4.1.4.1 and downloading the update I get the updated Applications folder. I uploaded it to my FTP but I get: Some of the files were not as expected. They may have been manually modified or not uploaded correctly. /home/-----/public_html/applications/core/setup/upg_101016/upgrade.php What did I miss? -- Fixed --

By default, IPS places the Google Analytics code at the bottom of the page. However, Google seems to want it placed in the <head> section, and if it doesn't find it there, it makes me jump through all sorts of hoops before I can use Webmaster Tools: My question is, given the GA code is now asyncronous, I presume this means it doesn't delay the rest of the page from loading, so why would we NOT put it in the <head> section?

Hello, Each time I've upgrade the past few times -- has resulted in my site being down for HOURS on end. I'm at the point where I'm terrified of upgrading my site -- with the knowledge it could be down for hours on end. Getting EX2 errors after 4.1.4 upgrade (only for guests). Disabling memcached and/or the option "Cache page output for guests" solved this. So, caching appears to be broken in 4.1.4. Or is there anything I'm missing (any command I need to run etc.)?
