Remove test installation that doesn't exist

Recommended Posts

We are moving server for our self hosted and have removed previous test installation.

Now we can not remove that test installation from Client area as it says it exists, but it is deleted and does not exist.

Please advise.

We are in the middle of a server move, and database is huge and asset storage is huge. @Marc Stridgen we are in trouble, as we only have read access to former owner's server, so can't fiddle too much on old server, and we are getting this error.

Possible to get a temporary license code while moving as it would be so much easier for us?

The IPB software is detected on that hostname even though it's not configured.

Could contain: File, Page, Text, Webpage

Remove the index.php or disable access to the site long enough for the license reset to be done and THEN make the files available.

The  test install on previous owners subdomain site hasn't existed for months!

So Today we uploaded the software there again, trying to remove it in client area -  still it shows up as a test url and i can't remove it.

Please advise as we can't test on new hosting url. What to do now? Remove it from the old test subdomain again? Remove the test subdomain again completely?

Im a little confused as to what you mean by previous owners there, as licenses are not transferable. It is for yourself to keep your license and software secure. It can be reset, but not until its removed completely from the old location

Yes, we have changed ownership. So the best thing is to buy a new licence then?

All should be sorted then with a new license code?

How to proceed without interruption, as we are moving server as we speak. I seem not be able to purchase a new license with my current login. And we would like to keep the branding removal and the existing months (expiring in Oct/Now)?

OK, we have some confusion here. If you purchased it, then it will have your name on it (as well as the company name). We can change the company name for you no problem. So the license itself is yours. So therefore its your responsibility there to ensure your license details and anything you download is secure. The previous test installation therefore needs to be removed from the server before you can reset it. So you should be contacting the owner of the server you installed it on to have it removed.

@Marc StridgenSo if i just remove the subdomain where test install is, will this help to remove it from Client area?

I am under stress now as we are just migrating to a better server! 🙏

If your test URL no longer points to an existing test instance, yes. However to be honest, wouldnt you be best to simply then point it to the new test location? This is what most people tend to do.

@Marc Stridgen Can new location be an ip address (temporarily) while migrating?
