Things look a bit different this time around. With 4.5, there was the "alpha" domain hosted site, then there was a series of beta releases, followed by full releases that may as well have been beta releases. It didn't go as smoothly as maybe would be ideal.
So I'm wondering if we take our lessons learned, and have adjusted things perhaps, what the plan this time is for 4.6.

Hey team, I was thinking this could be a cool feature and wanted to hear your thoughts:
On Twitter and some other social media accounts, often times they guide you to "follow" a few niche topics upon signing up. This way your timeline is populated with some content you might like right from the get.
It could be cool to implement either a page or something similar upon registering to a community.
I think our Activity Stream feature is incredible, and I want more people to begin using it on the regular (versus my community's homepage which is curated news content that is the same for all - I'd love if each member had a homepage that was specific to them!).
My thought is if they are forced to follow some suggested tags / forums / members to follow, they'd begin getting used to the Activity Stream right away and it'd create a more tailored visiting experience.
Also curious to hear if others have seen success with Activity Streams in their community. Love to hear some feedback!
    Happy 420 😜

It is but that's not how they created it: it's generated programmatically with JS. Not bad for the case when several people are writing or editing entries.

Claudia999 got a reaction from OptimusBain in IPS Pages - some new features suggestions
I use this thread for the extension of my older wishlist for Pages.
    Pages should have
background images for categories as for forums grid view polls in Pages entries text area for category descriptions (and not only one text field) an option to show category descriptions only on category sites and not in categories overview. widgets per category and not for all categories together (yes, there's an app for that) the option to set multiple authors for one article field for meta title on Pages database entries snippet preview on Meta Tags at least in ACP more schema tag options as described in this thread from @Gabriel Torres in menu manager the option to include a single entry from a Pages database (an article for example). So many menu entries are "external links" but actually "things" in Pages.

As the title suggests, if I restrict a member from posting for 30 days that should also restrict them from reacting to posts, or at least have an option to disable.
Had a couple of members now taking their frustration out by trolling the moderators with reactions following their temporary restrictions. Work around has been to move them into different groups where they can make 0 reactions a day, but would be nice as I say to have that as an option.

Yes, we need possibility for FAQPage tags and HowTos too. It should be a setting per database. For NewsArticle @Andy Millne knows the way 😉 https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/454170-news-sitemap-support-topic/?do=findComment&comment=2838152

In AdminCP System -> Site Promotion -> Advertisements we can add ads on the site and in email notifications. While we can restrict the ads to show only to certain groups, there is no possibility to restrict the email ads to the user group. Why? Please add the ability to restrict the email advertisement to the certain groups. Thank you!

I'm very interested. A good time would be when the Apple's keynotes usually start - then we can watch it in Europe too (and if we fall asleep in front of the webcam, your ideas weren't so cool or the webinar was too long).

Claudia999 reacted to opentype in [CMS] List of entries in a Pages database
With the stock options, that’s not possible in a sensible way I would say. A custom block with custom MySQL query would be needed.
Unless you structure the content itself, e.g. by putting all “A” entries into an “A” category. Then you can easily show entries from that category.

This is a feature we really need then. People will not want to register in order to cast a vote in a poll.

Claudia999 reacted to opentype in IPB as a LMS
Even the existing “additional” apps (Pages, Blogs, Gallery, Downloads, Commerce) only get minor improvements every 1,5 to 2 years. IPS doesn’t have the resources to add another full-fledged app with the required functionality and if you look at which sites use Invision Community, only a fraction even has a use for an LMS. So it just doesn’t work.
I am seeing paths to possible compromises though. For example: if Pages databases were coming to Clubs, clubs could be sold or offered for free as a “course” you sign up for—with all the lessons added as Pages database records, plus course forums, course calendar and so on. It still wouldn’t have all the bells and whistles of a LMS, but it could be a good solution for many and be fully native to Invision Community.

If IPS is serious about gamification, here are some foundational points:
Entire suite -- Not just forums. Not just apps.  But the entirety and power of the full Invision suite: uploading a cover photo, filling out a profile custom field, writing a status update, making a blog post, RSVPing to a calendar event, getting a post marked as best answer, creating an album, renewing a subscription for the sixth time, winning second in the leaderboard, getting an item promoted.      Weighted -- Writing an in-depth long-form blog is very different from uploading one image, but IPS weighs them the same as one content item.  They shouldn't count the same.   Customizable -- I would like a gamification system to be customizable to exclude / include nodes, categories, and apps.  How I reward my users is very different than how you run your community or how Invision runs its community.  How we offer member journeys will be as diverse as our communities.   Clubs -- I would like a gamification system to include clubs.  Not nearly at the same amount of customization, but each club deserves its own basic set.   Meaningful -- The rewards should be: Immediate, Recognize the relative difficulty of the accomplishment, and Provide the steps needed to get to the next reward.   Typical reward: "Congrats, you won a badge for making X posts." Better reward: "Congrats, you won a badge for making X posts, an accomplishment that puts you into the top 10% of users.  Your next badge is at Y posts." Attention Grabbing -- If a tree falls in a forest and no notification is sent out, does anybody care?  Gamification needs to have movement, to have excitement, to be dynamic, and offer a call to action.      What I'd like for gamification to address:
Profile onboarding - I've logged in to the accounts of multiple users over the years, and every single one has totally ignored the Profile Completion.  I would love to actually see usage statistics on larger sites, but at least on my site, most users don't care about Profile Completion.  I'd rather deprecate Profile Completion in favor of Gamification.   New user activation - There needs to be multiple calls to action within the first X minutes, where X is the site's average session duration. I've seen first-hand how if I can talk live to a user when he first joins, his posting skyrockets at least over that session. There needs to be activity, excitement, and movement within that first session duration.      Member pathways - Users find fulfillment in many ways in our communities. We need to empower them to both progress along certain member pathways while encouraging them to also explore other pathways.

It is not worth to try "beating" SM. Forums will never attract the majority of users from social media. Most people there do not create any useful content. They post:
cat Giphys and co. repost content of other users spy others This is not the behavior you wish in one forum, and you would not like to target those users. You can have 100000 Giphys posters or 10 content creators. The latter is what a good forum community need.
I would not say "SM crushing forums", I would say "search engines crushing forums". Many people do not really know there are other possibilities than SM or content sites. If you search for major keywords you would never find forums, but tons of (often useless) content sites that generates articles, steal and rewrite the content from each other and buy tons of links to get search rankings. Forums get long tail keywords. Something that pretty specific and goes into depth. I am sure one get more from search results using schema markup, like Question, Answer, QAPage.
The era of "pure" forums is over. The era of forums with general content is over. But there is a large opportunity for subject-specific communities with rich content, events, reviews, directories, Q&A and so on. All these elements can become a beginning of the conversation, discussion, what forums are.

No. It was too short – excuse me. Quiz A should have for example feedback in 4 steps (0, 25, 50 and 75%) and Quiz B should have other feedback in 7 steps (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90%)
