We host our own forum at oursite.com/forum and want to move it to a subdomin (forum.oursite.com) to keep seperate the versions of backend software needed. Is there a best practice for migrating an entire site? Thanks in advance! Garth Oswald

Hello, I modified the URL of my website but since I have errors 500 but not everywhere. I deactivated the .HTACCESS it doesn't change much except that I can connect to the main page. I tried to make the index but it made the problem worse. The CPAdmin works without problems. Help

Just noting amidst an active spam attack that many of the spammers have local IPs (VPN?) but their timezones are set to places like Kolkata India. Any way to set a Spam rule to check timezone to enforce a moderator approval? The chances of a user being outside a US timezone in my case is basically zero. I know not applicable for all (i.e. worldwide sites), but for us, it would cut down on that spam attack angle.

Because apparently I am an expert. I have resisted upgrading my community for several years now. Three years ago when the 4.0 upgrade came out it was so far over my head I did not upgrade. a bug has infiltrated my site and I have been trying to fix it. Matt was nice enough to get it backup but then It crashed again. So I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to 4.7.9. Now it wont finish the upgrade. I do not know why. The site is HotAirBalloonist.com/forum. I have tried to set up a test site at hotairballoonist.com/newforum and that failed. A few pointers would be great. Jeff

Hi, Invision team - As stated in the title of this forum topic, the "Prune Member IP Addresses" feature is not working for my self-hosted install. My community is fully up to date, I have the correct options enabled, and I have cron jobs running constantly to ensure that all tasks execute as they should. However, in spite of everything being in order, member IP addresses going back to the beginning of time are clogging up the system. I've even manually kicked off prune jobs just to ensure that I've got my bases covered. To comply with GDPR, I must be able to purge member data, especially IP addresses. Our users are unable to log into our forum. I just tried to log into admin CP and got this message - but can't actually get INTO the admin section to do anything about it: [[Template core/admin/global/globalTemplate is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]] Any advice? Our forums are an integral part of our events and we're going to have to run one without it today. Thanks.

Hi there, I am presented with this. Looking through the forums, this appears to be an issue with some hosts (Mine is BlueHost). Per a technical support thread on these forums, I followed these instructions and added this following code to my php.ini file days ago. However, I still have the notification warning me of the dangerous php functions. Any insight?

Hi all, For some time, I have noticed that when I interact in the CPAdmin, I generate three errors at each interaction (error, index.html, index.cgi, index.pl). According to my host it's a problem with the template. I get "referer" errors only when I'm logged into CPAdmin, but I don't know what to do to correct this error message claimant. Do you have any idea what I need to do to solve this problem?

A couple of days ago started doing some cleaning in the community: banning spammers, deleting their topics, etc, etc. I got a couple of tasks running which now are stuck due to an error: I want to mention that: The error was present before upgrading to the latest release (may) and is still present after the May update. I've used the disable ALL customizations functionality but the error is still there when running tasks which makes me think that the error is at a core level. Please help, 🙂

Hello, After upgrade to IPS 4.7.10 i've noticed that database has been damaged. Instead of polish letters like ęąźćś i have question marks ?????. I've checked inside of the database and discovered it's database trashed by itself. Example: Here is the screenshot from original forums table containing forum topics: Here is the very same table after conversion by IPS converter: Is there any way to fix that other than uploading backup and getting back to previous version? I backup my sites every week and today I thought I would test the latest backup on my socialaustralia.com.au site but it failed. The site is working fine. I backup the site and download it to my local PC which has xampp with php v8.0.2.8 installed I import the db into mysql but when i go to the backup version of my site on my local PC under localhost I get the error: [[Template core/admin/global/globalTemplate is throwing an error. I went to change the storage method for my site's "Theme Resources" today but the procedure appears to have gotten stuck. Here's what I did: Configured a new storage method. Changed "Theme Resources" to the new method, set the "Move files automatically" option to yes, then saved the changes. Saw two background tasks appear on the ACP dashboard: one for moving theme resources, one for deleting them at the source. Used the "manually run background tasks" option in the ACP to make this finish quickly. At the end of this, I now see: The ACP shows no active background tasks. Hi I hope you can help. I upgraded my site to the latest Invision Community v4.7.10. The upgrade seemed to go ok, but when logging in, even in admin, nothing is rendered correctly. All style info is missing. I cleared my system cache in Invision admin. I purged my CDN (Stackpath). Disabled 3rd party plugins. Disabled 3rd party Apps. Then I noticed that Chatbox+ has a pending update. Unfortunately, I am not logged in to the marketplace. IPS: 4.7.9 Browser: Chrome I am testing Google Maps integration on two different sites. One works some of the time, and other times it doesn't. I just set up the second one about 30 minutes ago but it's seeing 100% error rates on Places API. The first one was setup last night (12+ hours ago). Billing is set up and OK. API keys I believe are set up correctly as far as I can tell and identical config on both sites (minus the keys themselves and domain restriction on the Public Key). I was trying something in Pages and created a new Database. I didn't like how it turned out and decided to take another route, so I deleted the database. Now I'm getting a task-locked error. When trying to run manually, I get: Sorry, you do not have permission for that! 1S111/1 Table 'ddowdell_cng12013.ipb2cms_custom_database_8' doesn't exist Which... true and correct.. but I don't see a way to fix it.

Webhost switched site to php8 from php7.4 which broke forums. Was running version 4.2 which was only compatible with php7 when I went to 8 just got a white screen. Switched back and it all worked fine. Reading around realized I needed a version of forums compatible with php8 so I upgraded and downloaded the files for a manual upgrade since I can't upgrade thru the admin panel. I am trying to upgrade the forum but discovered that this seems to be impossible. I am currently on 4.7.1 which does not support PHP 8.0 and the automated upgrade path only works if PHP 8.0 is installed. So, I am not in a situation where there is no possible path forward for the upgrade. Here is the error message when switching to a newer PHP. The forum does not run any third-party extensions or plugins. What's the solution?

Hello, I've had to upgrade 3 plugins today whose updates said they had been converted to applications to follow IPS guidelines, etc. The plugins were updated at the end of the process, but now I have three duplicated plugins and applications. The original plugins were not deleted in the process. Is this normal? Should I delete the plugins? Thanks

Having issues trying to edit a forum post while editing it with admin account (REFERENCE I've been trying to edit this post) I have checked the permissions and no restrictions on time for Administrators And current settings for the server are And I am running the default Invision (un-altered theme) Not sure if there is anything else I can provide that would help identify why I (administrator) can not edit a post. I should be able to edit anything on the site as the administrator. Help is appreciated.
