This is because there are a lot of opinion based threads here. I don't think "Like" is a good reaction when you want to agree or support what has been said in a thread but currently the only agreeable reaction. Like is a broad (and at least for me) a very default way for people to respond/react to something that they simply think was a good read. In some cases I would like to actually agree with what the member is saying or support it with a +1. To me agreeing versus liking something will give me a better way to show my appreciation to a members post. An example a cute joke in the middle of an opinion thread would get a like or a 'haha' but something that …

This is really excessive. It looks even worse if your forum background is set to white.

We've recently launched a subscriber program and a donation campaign, and it's doing kinda meh. Suddenly! a wild idea appeared! Why not have a "X people got this" or some other variant of that next to the subscription/campaign name (or below it if it's super long)? That way all those free loading non-sub scum could see how many people there are in the community who are so much better and more generous than they are, and then feel guilty and give us their money. of course they could also see no one's buying your crappy overpriced crap and just back out of the page sinisterly laughing. Seriously though, all the crowdfunding sites do that, and peer pressure i…

Hello, Could you allow developers to put TAGs because it's not very easy to find a specific product for blogs or forums? Or maybe add a multiple choice so that the developer can say that his product is for blogs IP-Downloads,... , that it offers an admin interface...

In the Admin CP > Social Media Promotion > Auto Schedule it would be wonderful if this menu included the ability to pick a day of the week. Currently it's just time of day, but this way you could set up batch promotions to go out on Saturdays, for example. I'm aware that the current promote topic menu has the ability to select a specific day and time, but the problem with it is when you have staff from all over the world trying to promote at noon on Saturday and everyone is in a different time-zone its tough to coordinate. If you had an auto-scheduled time that respected the time zone of the person who created it, that would allow everyone to sync up easily. i…

The ability to have more than 1 input option when creating a custom button would be very helpful. Either a "+add new option" thing where you can create as many as you need, or at least 3.

I just went to my Client Area to start a Support ticket. The old link to that function with all past Tickets/Issues was gone and in its place is a small Support Link on lower right, and when clicked a small window opens for tickets or emails etc. Is this new? Sorta alarming that a robust Ticket function that sometimes dealt with serious issues has been replaced with a tiny email type window.

Hi there, We are seeing some users here in our community who are creating topics and immediately marking their single post as solution. We guess they are doing this only to get attention. So my suggestion is to improve this feature by not allowing the topic author to mark the first post in a topic as solution. The user would still be able to mark other posts (including his own) as solution in the topics he started, just not the first one. See if that makes sense. Thanks.

Hey Invision fam, I'm interested in contributing blog posts to Invision related to either community building, social media and/or handy features in Invision. Before I put pen to paper, err... finger to keyboard, I wanted to loop you guys in and see if you had any suggestions/ideas for blogs you'd enjoy reading. These future stories will be fun, digestible content, but before I dive in I'd love your input! Drop me a line in the comments 🙏 Just as a little FYI, I'm Invision's new Community Advocate. More on that here. Let me know!

Hi, I logged in to my community AdminCP and received the notification (see attached image) the server doesn’t meet recommendations that InnoDB Tables are using compact row format. I have self hosted forums. I contacted my hosting and asked them to change InnoDB Tables to use dynamic and they said this is only possible under a dedicated hosting plan which is out of my budget. My site is 8 years old and I always had IP Forums with no problems. Given the situation, I would like to request that please don’t make this requirement mandatory or customers like myself will have no option other than to migrate to other platforms. I am very sad right now. I don’t wan…

Hi, When using a RSS for newsletters and/or exports to partners, we'd like to include an image (when available) for records in the RSS. Preferably it would fetch the image as follows: Pages: From the record image, and not images published via the text editor. Downloads: The uploaded screenshot for a file Blogs: Feature Photo (the feature photo of a blog post) Forum topic & Forum posts: The fist image published in a post, if available (low priority from my point of view) (I don't have Gallery, so I can't comment on that, even if it makes sense to offer images in Gallery feeds as well) I believe it also would make sense to use thumbnail images when avai…

Right now, staff with access to Support within Commerce have the ability to see details about the member that may disclose their identity. Things like a customer's real name, email address, and other details. In our community, we've removed this access this via a custom modification we've developed, however I believe this should be an out of the box permission. Please provide a discrete permission to restrict personally identifiable information from staff without the necessary administrator permission to do see that information. It is not necessary for someone replying to support requests to necessarily have access to e-mail addresses, the real name of the customer, …

When you click the promote button at the top of the thread the window you're presented with is almost impossible to figure out just by looking at it. There's no way but trial and error to figure out how it works, and it doesn't work particularly well once understood. I attached a screenshot of the window, so I can describe the problems with it. To be fair, before I start in, I'm only using this tool to promote internally which is a wonderful feature when I can endure the tedium required to get it to do what I want. I don't use it to promote to FB or Twitter or anything like that. ------------------------------ FIRST WINDOW The first window titled Full Link is easy …

I have captcha enabled, but recently have been getting a large amount of spam via the contact form. I am reluctant to stop guests being able to use it in case of any login issues. It would be great if the question and answer challenge spam protection could be used on the contact form as well as registration, as that works far more successfully for our community. Or alternatively, anything better than the current success rate of captcha. Thanks a lot.

I think it would be nice to see the automatic Group Promotions expanded on a little bit. Namely the options to promote people for the following: 1) Starting a chosen number of posts within a chosen forum(s) 2) Commenting a chosen number of times within a chosen forum(s) 3) Providing answers to a chosen number of questions within a chosen forum(s) 4) Having a chosen amount of answers selected as "best answer" within a chosen forum(s) Thanks for considering!

It would be great if you integrate this feature and doing it modifiable by admins. For example: * Congratulations, you've wrote your first message/reply - created your first topic * ...you've wrote your 10th/50th/100th message * ...you've your first like - first liked answer...etc etc etc and notifiable via forum and/or e-mail... also visible on profil under like 'User achievement' tab...

It would be great if when you click on an ajax notification popup at the bottom of the screen, it should clear out the notification in your notification list as well! Not a huge issue but it's all in the little details! 🙂

I understand the most recent version of IPS improved the ability to search for conversations. However, on my communities a lot of members have conversations with a substantial amount of pages, and so being able to search inside of an individual conversation would make life far easier. For example, you could search for a specific phrase and be taken straight to page 46 of the conversation where the phrase was used, rather than just to page 1 of the conversation. Improved search functionality for individual conversations would be a huge plus for my community, and I'm sure others who heavily use the conversation feature. Many thanks.

If the only option in the dropdown is topic, it should direct straight the to topic creation part. A dropdown for one item, and an extra click currently.

First time I've really seen the new sidebar topic summary in action. Works really well especially on multipage threads. It gives a real flavour of what the thread is all about. Just a thought on this, it works so well that I am wondering whether something similar couldn't be used in topic lists. I've got a feeling it would do a better job than what we currently have:

I was showing someone how to use the site, they are taking over the organization. It was all good.... until I showed them the Record Feed block on the front page. Created a Page, a Database for News & Events. All good. Then I showed the record feed block dropped into the front page..... Done. They are looking for someone to create a WordPress site. I get the questions. What is the bullet for? Why does the author and time posted repeat? How do you remove the comments and rating? They just want Thumbnail, Title and/or Teaser. 😞

@bfarber @Lindy I've got a small issue with the Pages menu in the ACP - there are blank spaces where links should be to view records: The image above shows a faint highlighted area when moused over and this then connects to the records for a database. I can manage the records via other links but these should be populated, any ideas? As you can see in the image below from the console view that the H3 tag is empty With thanks

No idea when this changed, but now when I log out and go to log in with another account, I can't? There's no option to enter your email address now and it simply logs you back in.
