Really want to see updated high resolution favicon without white border. Current favicon is very ugly.

I was about to post the same but you were faster. 🙂 For managing graphics I can highly recommend Adobe Illustrator, which can export vector graphics in multiple sizes PNG including favicon in one go, very useful. 

And we still have this awful favicon...

I've updated it. It might take a while for caches to see it.

For this image, a better presentation is if it is transparent ... Here is a version that will look good.
