The problem here seems to be user using a 4.3 plugin version on 4.5 board. I don’t see where this can be dev’s fault.

He probably updated from 4.3 to 4.5 and broke it. But the upgrade to 4.5 should disable 3rd-party resources so I’m not sure that’s the case.

    This seems most likely. 😬

  2. Was lucky to get 4meg in the countryside until BT finally decided to install new connection cabinets. Was a nightmare being on ADSL, then 4meg and finally got to 10meg.

Couple years back we got a big upgrade and got 40meg! God knows how managed on ADSL for so many years.

@Brad Eden good to see that IPS was able to help. Great reading old stories like this too!

So I have the up to date software installed and I'm trying to set up social sign in via Twitter. I entered everything correctly in the admin panel I believe (entered the correct key and what not), but when I attempt to test to connect my Twitter and test the sign in, it says "Something went wrong. Please try again."

Make sure within your Twitter developer account that everything is live and the account is live. I recently redone my Twitter following the guide on here and it worked without a hitch. In AdminCP under registration that the Twitter login is enabled.

Thank you! Trying this right now and I'll get back to you

It also looks like it’s asking you to run some SQL queries, if it does ask you during the upgrade, it’s advised to do them manually via PHPMyAdmin if you have access. If not you’ll have to run them from the browser.

Another tip is that if you’re using cPanel, then I normally download the zip folder from Invision, exact the files and rezip them and use file manager to upload and uncompress/overwrite files as it’s far quicker than doing via FTP. (But that’s me)

Just done my first subscription package and gave everyone a free month trial which has been really popular

But now I'm getting complaints from people who have chosen a pay monthly option, that they get an invoice that you have to pay manually each time

Surely that cant' be right and I've done something wrong
How do I make subscriptions a recurring payment?

Pay monthly you’ll have to setup PayPal Billing agreements. Go to product and under settings you’ll see 3 options, select billing agreements and follow any guides/links if needed to set up.

It’s taking longer then expected but it’s coming  😞 everybody with an active license can contact me and will get a free license for any of our other apps as compensation.

Wow, that is a very generous offer

And really not needed. Instead of offering such a thing. I’d rather more effort put into the app instead of people pleasing with freebies.

You have an audience for your apps, there is demand. All I ask is that you take on suggestions, and keep making the app and supply updates.

4.5 looks to be a difficult for developers, so I’m sure we’re all happy to wait. Just keep us updated is all. Because some of our sites depend on certain apps, which should really never be the case, but apps such as this bring a lot to ones forum.

So, thank you for keeping it updated.

He would like to clear all of his read pointers, so that the forum appears to him just like it would to a new sign up.

He actually accomplished this by creating another username and logging in with it.

This is a feature, and you shouldn't really let people make more then one account.

Tell him to access any category he wants to mark.

So for instance, I can go to Feedback and Information category and hover my mouse over the forum icon of 'Product Guidance' and this would mark all topics as read.

  9. I'm sure I've seen this mentioned before, but can we implement a notice/message notifying us of patches?

We have the notification feature in AdminCP, is there no way you can use this to push out a notice for us to check for patch updates?

As of now, the only way we know is by running the support tool, which is what I just did now only to find the new patch regarding Facebook.

You are running the latest version, but an optional update is available to address the following issues:

an issue with viewing a theme difference in the AdminCP, updates Facebook for Graph v8 compatibility

Yeah, but as far as I know, what you are sending to Twitter is just a link and Twitter will crawl the topic itself, which doesn’t have any information about the “promotion” (and the images chosen for it).
So the best you get is the sharer image unless you have my plugin for topics.
The Twitter card support itself is a stock functionality now, but there is not necessarily a meaningful image available for every URL of the suite.

Ah ok, I understand. Thanks for your help!

I never used function that but I doubt that it would post the image to Twitter. What kind of content are you promoting? It should pick up the OG:image automatically for the Twitter card, unless it’s a forum topic.

Forum topic promoted to Twitter (as far as I'm aware) should detect the image either from the topic or the uploaded image.

The website URL with a Default share image uploaded works fine, but obviously this isn't useful for posting links to Twitter.

    I also came across an old topic which you was discussion this very thing;

  12. I've setup a new Twitter account and sorted out my developer account. I'm able to promote to Twitter but, the Tweets are not turning into or showing as links?

Wasn't it the case (before), if you promoted to Twitter, it showed the image, and the Tweet acted as a link with a preview of the post? Now all I get is a Tweet with a preview of text and a hyperlink which looks awful, but it does show an image.

I've also noticed when using Twitter Card Validator that no images show on my links? I can only add a sharer image which is then displayed, obviously this is no good as you want to grab the attention of users with engaging images.
