Trying Alpha 1, post bits are not resizing, also postbit position has no effect, and trophies do not show under signature. (default theme)

Other two issues are still present Fosters on default theme using Beta 1 which was released two hours ago.

Sure you don't have to pay to renew, then you lose the ability to download plug-ins and certain forum features on your forum on top of that. This is one reason social media has taken over. Very low overhead costs. Very low long term costs. With forums costs seem to be going up just to keep using the same software you used 20 years ago except now with a new coat of paint and a few new features.

That I agree with 100%, having my licence run out and I can’t download updates via market place to which I paid for. I want that over turned and that’s next on my list to talk about on here.

I currently help run and maintain a site that’s been around for 20 years. We do well with memberships and it keeps us a float, along with shows. Times have certainly changed from when we started. I recently started a new forum to trial it out and FB has certainly taken it over. I’ve seen one guy build a group in a space of 3 months (over lockdown) and thrive without him putting any money into it. But what he has done is create some stickers, and other such things and sell them. He also now has two sponsors. I admit I’ve already put a couple hundred in my new site and only got back 25 back through an affiliate programme... So I see your frustrations and points that you’ve explained, but yet I still don’t see an issue on the domain, however I do understand what you’re saying.

It's nothing more than a domain change that's tied to that one domain. Not multiple ones. I can still download the software for that domain and use it across multiple domains. How did that stop piracy. How did that change anything? It didn't. Period

You wouldn’t be able to install it at all on another domain as the servers communicate. Nor run any sort of updates either.

Like a lot of software you buy one licence for one installation. Sometimes the vendors offers deals/packages. I know IPS do offer discounts throughout the year to buy new licences at a discount (usually 10% off).

  3. I’ve never met anyone that needs to change a domain every 6 months let alone every couple of months... It really doesn’t make sense. Be sure on what you want to do and not give up on something because it’s not working.

Sorry, but for once I side with IPS, it’s a preventative measure to insure piracy concerns as explained on the page.

I'm now running 4.5.1 (non-beta) - I still have applications that are outdated.

I know this because when I click on the "Marketplace" link next to them, the Marketplace page shows a newer version along with the message "This resource is already installed and up to date" (even though it isn't).

I've tried repeated "Check for updates"... There are still no updates detected.

I had a similar issue yesterday. Two plugins were not detected after running the update tool many times. So, I opened up the apps & plugins and clicked on 'marketplace' which took me to the file, from there I selected, update and it updated the plugin.

Would be interesting to know how this was fixed.

After the upgrade to IPS 4.5.0 failed on my live installation (with over 150,000 topics) and I was a bit too impatient, I decided to return to IPS 4.4.10 with a fresh installation and thus I deleted everything. After re-uploading the database back-up (version before I tried to upgrade to 4.5.0), I had the same problem as mentioned above on my live installation then. Thus I deleted everything again and have now a test installation on localhost. The problem remains there, too.

    Any suggestions?

Run the support tool to clear the cache and it should reload the editor box and mouse hovers.

Do you see the same error as @Chris59 ?

What's the logged error? (ACP => System => System Log)

I did on Ehren's theme, but he just released an update. I do not get that error on the default theme.

    Just searching through the logs and I see this;

Error (1060) Duplicate column name 'linktarget': addColumn ["trophies_trophy",{"name":"linktarget","type":"MEDIUMTEXT","length":null,"decimals":null,"values":null,"allow_null":true,"default":null,"comment":"","unsigned":false,"zerofill":false,"auto_increment":false,"binary":false}]

I also went through and disabled anything that might cause issues. I first thought EnhancedUserInfo caused it, but turning it off made no difference.

  7. Not sure if this is related to the app or IPS, but since Beta 11 (and now 4.5 soft release), I cannot upgrade from; 1.5.3. ACP says that 1.6.0 is released and that I'm up to date? However, I haven't been able to update to that version yet.

Edit: Known bug in 4.5, and addressed in 4.5.1

    You're welcome and again - it's no problem. That's what I'm here for. 🙂

To answer your question, it would not prevent you from installing. That aspect is on the honor system (and who wants to risk losing their license from breaking the rules??), however, we would like to provide authors with the ability to determine how this works for their individual resources.

That's brilliant thank you. I've just removed some old files from my other licence as they were not used (hence my question), and wished to transfer them and use on my second licence. So I still only have one instanced of the file installed (as agreed upon purchasing).

I'm sorry again for the frustration and @Dean_ you're not being a nuisance at all. I completely understand your position. Again, should circumstances change in the future, we can re-evaluate. At this point, just slapping up the file again would defeat the entire purpose of the 4.5 Marketplace, so that's unfortunately not under consideration at this moment.

Thank you for taking the time out to reply. I was actually going to tag you earlier, but in the end it's kind of childish and it didn't want it to come across that I was throwing my dummies out of the pram.

You could reach out to the author as well with these rare circumstances, but to be honest, this change also helps them from a piracy standpoint, so they may not be willing to give up files to customers so easily and again, if they do, it would not be installed within the new Marketplace framework.

This is nice to see, I've seen many sites that clearly abuse authors works. But I do have a question regarding the upload of files (if we have them already downloaded). For instance, if I had a file owned and downloaded (marketplace) from another IPS licence, does the marketplace detect that I shouldn't have this installed file installed on a second licence, despite that fact it's been removed from the original installation? I noticed that we have to confirm files now (the process), so I thought it's worth asking as I certainly wouldn't want to be seen in a 'different light' or 'accused'.

If you had copied your access token to the right place (without modifying any code), it would also show you signed in. As I've noted earlier though, there isn't an issue with installing things locally and we've said that in the past. The technical requirement is for the login process only because we need to securely transmit data to your community and currently there is no other way to do that without potentially compromising your community account.

Exactly that, but it's a bit of a hassle.

I get what you guys are saying and understand. Actually I fully support what you say. But, manual download from IPS Marketplace should stay intact. That's all. I appreciate what you guys do and that's why I've chosen IPS as my go to and it's always recommended friends. So please don't think I'm being a nuisance.

I merged the topic with an existing topic on the same subject, it was nothing to do with any internal discussions.

I touched on above how to login to the Marketplace on a locally hosted install, there's nothing stopping you doing it providing that you meet the technical requirements for it. That is, pointing a resolvable URL to your local machine and using your TESTINSTALL license key.

Seeing as you lot are making it so awkward, I found a way to access and download without the pointing URL or signing in. However, again you're missing the points, some people will not have any access to the internet on a development local server as pointed out above.

I can't fathom as to why you will not allow us (your paying customers) to download manually like we have always done for years. I don't wish to go around the houses to do something as simple as downloading a file.

  12. I really don't think people are 'getting it' or simply do not understand.

4.5 has NOT been released, it is in TESTING...  As usual testing practices are; pre-alpha. alpha, beta and rc's. You will know when 4.5 is OFFICIALLY released as IPS will shout about it everywhere. You're advised not to install any beta software release, unless you know what you're doing.

Maybe you are mixing up the two available apps? There is one for Invision Community (this site) and a separate one for Invision Communities.

I believe so, I must’ve forgot there was two and never signed up to the other.
