I literally have the same problem as this person: Same error message and everything. I clear out my config_global.php so that I can just have a fresh install on my dev computer. But invision is assuming a default username of blank according to the error message. I am thinking this is a bug but I am unsure. There may be a workaround which is to copy over my database on my live site, but it would be a pain for me to do so. It's much cleaner and easier to do a fresh install for testing purposes. Any ideas?

I am trying out a test version of my invision community. I have a backup .tar file from my actual community but I do not know how to get it from the file manager on the host into the new test community. Looking all over the Admin CP for that option. Search bar finds nothing. Clues welcome. Jeff

Our website astrosurf.us is a backup/miror copy of astrosurf.com (our public site) Both sites are installed on two totally identical dedicated servers (same hardware and software configurations). Our goal is to test the upgrade from the version we are currently using (V 4.2.8) to version 4.7.9 . astrosurf.us was built as follows: - Full copy of the astrosurf.com/web folder to astrosurf.us/web with the same access rights for files and directories - Copy and restore the last MySQL database - Update of the conf_global.php file - Clean the cache We had already done this operation in the past, but this time, everything works correctly f…

I just extracted and started the installation of the software and ran it from the ips_ef506 folder instead of moving the contents to the public_html folder. As a result, I now get this error when trying to reinstall: Can I get help to have this changed please. I don't know why I suddenly don't have email support, I have several communities running this software.

We use a lot of polls, with a simply Yes or No vote. Most of the time, they work perfectly. However, over the last month we've had two separate polls. When a person places their vote, it shows to that person that their vote has been cast, but it does not tally it in the results. Using phpMyAdmin, and after researching inside the core_polls database table, I see the following: choices field {"1":{"question":"Please place your vote.","multi":0,"choice":["Yes","No"],"votes":[0,1]}} votes field: 5 As you can see, these do not equate in terms of number of votes. There should be a sum total of 5 votes in the choices field. In other words, it should look so…

Hello, due to the fact that our provider has a new limit of 5 GB for new mysql 5.7/8.0 or MariaDB 10 databases, I would like to ask here if the board can be installed on more than one database or spread over multiple databases? Thanks you in advance for any feedback. Best regards

We recently moved web hosts and everything was generally running smoothly. Went to upgrade the Invision Community software from version 4.7.7 to 4.7.9, and encountered the following error: Upgrade Error: We were unable to start a PHP session. You will need to contact your host to adjust your PHP configuration before you can continue. The error reported was: session_start(): Failed to read session data: files (path: /var/cpanel/php/sessions/ea-php74) Initially I thought it was due to DNS not propagating, so had waited several days before attempting it again. I have opened a support ticket with the web host as previous posts suggest there may …

Probably something easy, but I just installed a new forum (fresh install) and the install seemed to go well without errors. There are basic config things I'm still working through. Self hosted install. I'm able to see the Admin CP (obviously) but I'm not able to view the forums yet though I've created a few forums. The site is "on". Any clues for me to look for as to what is wrong here?

I'm building a test site... empty web server, empty database... essentially a new install. I cannot find a set of step by step instructions about how you go about this. I've downloaded from the client area and uploaded to my self hosted web server... what do you execute? Anyway... is there step by step anywhere? thanks!

Multiple users have reported problems using the Android Chrome Browser when opening threads. I can occasionally replicate the problem, but it is not consistent. It seems to happen most predominantly in threads that have embedded tweets. For example, https://www.billikens.com/forum/index.php?/topic/24864-former-billikens-updates/page/47/#comment-755186 I have had the problem for probably 6 - 9 months, but in the last month, it has become much more frequent. With my browser, I have tried deleting the cache/cookies, but this does not seem to affect it. Any guidance on how to diagnose or fix this problem would be appreciated.

We are on a severally outdated version of 4.5 and when i go to upgrade i get This Database message UPDATE `core_output_cache` SET `cache_expire`=0 WHERE `cache_expire` IS NULL; ALTER TABLE `core_output_cache` DROP INDEX `cache_expire`, CHANGE COLUMN `cache_expire` `cache_expire` INT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 COMMENT 'Unix timestamp of when the cache expires', ADD KEY `cache_expire` (`cache_expire`); I tried fixing automatically and manually running the queries in PHP my admin and nothing lets me get past this point

Greetings! This pertains to my Dev site which is fully upgraded. Two third-party apps had updates; Members Country and Community Map. I updated the two apps and then all site formatting/theme was lost. Everything displays in "site map" format. I added recovery into the constants.php and that did not correct the issue. Then I deleted both apps and that did not correct it either. Any suggestions on how to recover? Thank you!

Do you know why these buttons are appearing truncated on my forum (I have hidden the full card for security reasons) note that I have stretched the forum to the full 27" monitor, so they should not be showing like that? How they should appear (on invision) On my forum: Is it simply because I have changed the 'Message' to 'Private Message' ? Anyway to make the contact card slightly larger so at least the last 2 buttons show the full content?

Our site has been migrated to a new host and a new server. We had everything configured corrrectly on our original setup but now when attempting to edit theme files in the admincp we get "theme cannot be saved" error. I assume this is a file permissions issue. We have CHMOD 777'ed cache, applications, uploads, plugins and datastore but still encounter the error. Any folders we are missing? Any thoughts on what is causing this issue? The new server runs PHP 8 and is on shared hosting with DreamHost (we originally hosted it on our own equipment under a cPanel/WHM install.)
