On some forums, there are a lot of members active at once. (Over 800) For 3.2, I think there should be an option that either allows you to hide that or have it collapse like the forum listing. It can save a lot of space and makes that person's forum run more smoothly.

In the ACP, there should be a notification option to subscribe all new members to receive topic reply notification emails by default. A couple of topics where it's also been requested here, and here. This option is available in other forum software.

It'd be nice to be able to archive threads to a separate database and still accessible to members? This will be useful for big databases. Vb had this for a long time.

Many of the larger applications include images which currently have to be manually copied into all of the skin image directories if the forum has multiple skins. This can be a rather confusing issue for users who are not very familiar with IPB. I would suggest the ability for developers to specify a directory in which their application images are stored and then while the application is being installed, automatically copy those images from the 'master/' directory to every single skin image directory (it probably shouldn't overwrite existing images, in case the skin includes images for the application already). I think that this would greatly simplify the application…

I was just thinking, it would be great if it's possible to mark subforums as read from the main forum index. Currently it's a little dot beside the subforum to mark if there's new content or not. This image could be clickable just like the regular forum icons to mark that subforum as read.

I thought this profile feature may be useful in topics. Sometimes you wonder if someone has read a topic. If it showed all the list would be huge. Maybe do the last 10, or a selectable number. Maybe do all in the past 24 hours. Maybe click to view all that ever read. Just ideas.

[#2000] You are not allowed to visit this forum. I get that message whenever i visit a forum, http://www.vibrantfx.net I have been getting this message for a week now, EVERY time i visit the site. I cannot log in or access any pages. I have deleted my cookies, purged all browser data, reinstalled browsers(have tried accessing on several different computers, and browsers) It seems like its an IP ban, I can access the forum at starbucks or on a different IP, but I am not IP banned, I am part of the staff team I would really appreciate some help with this. Other admins have no idea what happened or why I cannot access the forum :(

Suggestion: Add messenger to the share a topic options. You could have this enabled or disabled (receiving them), and it could be configured for friends only or all. Faster than copying and pasting the link and sending. Just an idea.

This is so confusing -- the links in the user drop-down, the different areas of the control panel, the profile section. There should be ways *other than the drop-down* to get from one place to another. Are all features available to the member going to be consolidated in 3.2?

Being a previous user of the phpnuke system I remember the popular 'last poll block' which always brought additional interactivity to the main page. I think it would become very useful and popular for IPB users as well..

It would be wonderful if IP.Board 3.2 would have some sort of an graphical chart about - how many users are online - liked content (per week, month, year) - most hits Check out this example graph from wordpress. It turned out that admins love this sort of information about their site.

...but I'm going to do it anyway. I've got a new project coming up, and IP.Board 3.2, Nexus, Gallery, and Blog would do almost everything that the client needs. I need to do some rough project planning, but it's difficult without having any idea of when to expect IP.Board 3.2. I know this won't affect too many people since this is only a bigboard problem. But the who's online and stats are just...not nice to look at with how it's set up if you have a lot of users online: As you can see, I have set my online stats to only 5 minutes and it still stretches the crap out of my site. Yes, I can manually change this, but it's quite annoying to. Why not optimize it for all sites? IF anything, do what xF has done and put a cut off to show only x number of users? Hello, Please bare with me and read the whole post carefully before you delete it. My forums at www.psarmy.com have been taken over by someone else as you probably know. My only concern right now is that the license needs renewing by May, otherwise I presume it goes offline. Please IPB update your documentation. Right now, I feel a lot of it is poorly written and hard to fully understand. I also dislike how hard it is to navigate from article to article. An example of something I would like to see would be something similar to what Xenforo has done: Installation page: http://xenforo.com/help/installation/ I like the way they layout and word their tutorials. Simple English with each section separated into different steps. In contrast with IPB, IPB in my opinion is very cluttered and hard to understand. Any thoughts?

How about having default turn off or on option that allows the Administration to choose if they want to have a legend of the icons and there meanings on the IP.Board front end page? As currently this has to be added with in a skin or application which work sometimes or to may edits have to be made. Allow to have an option does a few things first it allows the Admins to have it on the board or not, depends if they want it. Also, with each skin there is always a different icons that mean different meanings. I would love to see the feature of being able to insert a post after or before another post in a topic. I often find that I want to be able to insert a secondary post after the firstpost in order to complement with additional information. This is obviously only present when I'm the author of the topic. This could be any number of things but for instance when writing guides and alike. This feature should IMO be per group and/or per forum. I'd actually be willing to permit this feature to regular member but only being able to insert posts after the first post and only in their own topics and perhaps even restrict this to only a certain part of the forum such as "Guides".…

I'm a HUGE fan of Invision Power Service products and own everything you offer. I have worked with Joomla, Drupal, vBulletin, phpBB, etc.. but I love IP.Board. One thing I do not like is the search. If I type keywords in, I just want it to search my entire system for anything that would match those keywords and display them with where they are (forum, blog, download, gallery). Not where I have to click on forum tab to see the results for forum, click on blog to see results for blog. I like the idea of applying a filter but the default is everything. I am busting my ass to get my board moved to 3.1.2 and just finished skinning the two different forum results pages (asForumPosts and asForumTopics). One of the features I was looking forward to in 3.1.2 (versus 3.0.5) is the ability to moderate the search results. The one single reason I wanted this feature was so I could actually move topics based on search results. For instance, on my site I might want to create a new forum for a particular game console, let's say the Intellivision. It's not really a bug, but it's sort of annoying. Since we have so many notification choices on this site now, if you scroll down to the bottom you don't see what the column headers are anymore: I have to remember which column is email, which is for personal conversation, etc. Would be better if the column headers showed at the top of each section.

I recently went to Tools & Settings > System Settings > System > General Configuration and went to the Other General Settings section and changed my Debug Level to level 3. I then found out that this was readily viewable to the entire world. I would advise including an additional option to select who this debugging information is viewable (ie. selecting member names and selecting user groups) if you set your debugging level to anything besides 0. I'm not sure how to inquire about a ticket that hasn't received a reply in almost 48 hours, so I'll try here. Could I get someone to look at Ticket #: 735757 please? I understand it's a more complicated issue to do with Nexus, but I feel where it has been sitting in general support without a reply for almost 2 days that there hasn't been a tech familiar enough with the issue to look into it.
