After installing 4.0 I get hit with the need to rebuild posts and various other tasks that can either be ran manually or via cron script. Attempting to do so is taking forever and sending my server CPU load through the roof. I am more than a week into this and only 50% through the first task of rebuilding posts!!! I am just wondering if someone can explain what exactly is going on during this part of the upgrade? I don't think I really understand.

People use to use friend 'n follow people so they know when someone they find interesting was online with + by users names on online lists, etc. Almost nobody on forums are friends and the few people on a forum someone may see as a friend doesn't need a friend feature to know they're friends. The whole nonsense about not liking a word because one of its several meanings means follow as in opposite of leader is silly. Spamming friend requests is just as lame as liking every bit of content that has a like button. I don't use the feature as friends on forums I visit because I'm not friends with most people. Hi everyone, I was testing out the new software and noticed that Tweets and Instagram posts are not responsive and stretch out the forum on mobile devices. Hopefully this will be addressed in future releases, but I was also wondering if there's a manual fix for this. Thanks!

This topic got me thinking. Comparing 3.x and 4.x "force login" screens, it does look a little sparse. I was merely thinking perhaps a simple message as to why you're being shown a login page... Quick pics to illustrate: 3x states clearly why the login screen is being shown 4x although the addition of the 'register' link is helpful there's no real explanation as to why you see this page. A simple change of message or addition here could go a long way I think...

hello, this is not bug but i'm working to convert my pages designs and layouts to the new pages v4 but noticed something when i'm editing the recordForm template and try to check if key exist in the loop the $inputName return as content_field_ID id (is the id of the field in DB) but in the record display template the $fieldId return the actual Template Key that i defined in the ACP which i prefer the problem in the old ip.content we can check both with fields id or fields Template Key in record form or display form now i'm working in one database with 41 fields and in the records form i divided them in 5 arrays just to make the form more organize and use tabs the probl…

Hello, I've installed IPB 4 Beta 2 from scratch and when I try to active developer mode ( IN_DEV to TRUE in constants.php ), all pages go blank. Consider that: -I installed developer tools -I erased the folders of non-installed applications -I tried to force error reporting and display_errors, but nothing shows up -Everything goes OK when I set IN_DEV to FALSE Anybody experiencing a similar issue?

I do not see an option to delete an entire set, I have to delete all from the set individually to remove it? Likewise, when adding, I have to add each individually. Could you not just import an .xml in prior version?

I have been using the RSS feed tool on all my forums for a long time. I usually set it to import a set number of feeds based on the size of the community. I use it to add a little discussion to the site as well as to add some revenue generating posts. I see the ability to explicitly limit RSS imports has been removed from the latest version of IPB. Now my small forums are overrun if I use the RSS import feature. I had a member complaining on this small forum that he can no longer use the site because all he sees is RSS posts. Is there any possibility of bringing back the ability to limit the number and how many times a day the RSS feed feature runs? It won't be much use …

I know, another thread about this. Hear me out, this is different. It's a new twist I think. I just wanted to pitch a quick idea I had regarding the Followers vs Friends situation. Allow me to preface this by letting you know I haven't fully thought this through and I am hoping for your input if you like this idea. The idea is to stop thinking of Followers & Friends as 2 separate systems. Instead we can integrate them into one system. Hello, In IPS4 Pages, it's possible to create a new menu item with a dropdown list. The same as the "IPS4 Resources" tab on this board. It is also possible to set permissions on which links in the dropdown list can be viewed by member groups. My suggestion is that if a certain member group can only view one of the links, the dropdown list shouldn't appear, and instead have the tab link directly to that page. As it seems silly if the dropdown list only contains one link. For example: If IPB set the permissions of a member group to only see ISP4 Resources->Feature Plan. Then when they click IPS4 Resources it should take them straight to that page and not show them a dro…

I did some translation work on the IPS 4 and I have a problem with a single (yes, only one!) umlaut that I am using. One word, in one phrase, doesn't display the 'ä' correctly, instead it is some weird symbol ( � ). The local code of the language file is correct, also the charset is UTF-8 (if that matters). Why does this happen? And why does this happen to one word only? Every other phrase and umlaut I use is being displayed correctly. Any ideas?

I have seen many wordpress themes that allow you to input different code for an ad in any given location depending on the screen size. Could their be another drop down in the advertisements section of ACP that specifies not only where to place the ad but for which size screen?

The IPS site is still concentrated on IP.Content, which I presume has now changed into Pages? Is there a resource to understand what it can do for my site, examples of it in use (I've seen the typography.guru one and the UK Police one, which both look solid) and what kind of things can be built? I'm keen on expanding my site beyond a forums, and this seems to be the best way to do it... but I'm concerned I'll purchase something that isn't what I'm expecting. Shots of it action (esp from an admin/contribute POV) would be great!

Have your support/aka customer service team go through training with the devs so they know where tidbits are located. Simple questions that take forever or not at all to get answered on the community support forum can be answered in minutes. Or, why not simply have docs that show how things go together under the hood, as we are not all devs and not all can afford to hire one. This happen with Expression Engine, you have a handful of people that will answer questions and then for the questions that go unanswered it takes the end user way to much of their time to try and figure it out. Time that should be spent on bringing an idea or business to life. So, stop wasting o…

Our forums have historically benefited from an app called Manage Inactive Members. The app allows you to automatically move members to other classes or delete them entirely based upon activity measures (e.g. member hasn't logged in for 45 days). We have been unable to contact the provider of this app and suspect that there will not be a version of this app created for 4.0. Does anyone know of an app that is planned that will perform this function which is critical to us? If not, there may be a market there for someone.

In homepage I use 5 blocks. Two blocks contain images with improper size for the mobile version, such as block 4 and block 5. I've created two new block with other content that I want when a site is visited by phone to see them. Ie Block 4 and 5 to be replaced.
