Sonya* got a reaction from Greek76 in X hours ago vs. today/yesterday
It is obvious for me. It is like my phone, when there is missed call I want to see when this call was. Exactly the time. I do not want to know if it was 3 or 5 hours ago. I cannot explain, why I would like to see the time there. Just because I am used to think "in time" and not in "hours ago". On this community it is sometimes important to see if the post has been made early in the morning or afternoon. Saying X hours ago forces me to calculate what the posting time exactly was.
It is easier for me to say what I have done at 3:00 PM as what i have done 9 hours ago.

Our users complain about relative dates again and again. The main issue they have: they do not want to calculate how many hours ago is yesterday. They would like to differ between posts made today and yesterday. So they need clean statement today, 11:23 or yesterday, 23:43. At the moment if they see something like 19 hours ago they must work out if today is already longer as 19 hours then the post is from today. Otherwise from yesterday. A lot of our users wish to see what content has been published "TODAY".
Can you please consider to change the logic of f_hours and f_hours_short to figure out whether the post has been made today or yesterday and print out the words instead of X hours ago?

I asked IPS about Ckeditor 5 because I liked the inline and balloon toolbars.
@Mark slapped me down.  Hard.  My cheeks still sting from the slapdown LOL.  Something about IPS would need to rewrite all of their plugins, we would lose some of the features that IPS needs, and current version is supported until 2023.  So that's a hard no.
Not until Invision Community 5 maybe or later.

So this is kind of something I found a strange ommission, IPS added read receipts (very nice!) but forces them to be on. This is pretty strange, it means that if admins turn their messages on, they have to answer immediately to every message they read or take slack even if they just want to investigate.

It also means users who don’t feel like responding to something end up with the user knowing, which tends to create a degree of negativity as well.

I think turning it off side-wide (or even better, allowing users to do so personally) should be a core feature, or at least a plugin.

Sonya* got a reaction from IP-Gamers in Blog: switch from WordPress to IPS Pages, good idea or not?
You do not need blogs if you would like to have only one blog. IPS Blogs are designed for community members. It's a multi-blog solution. If you need a blog written by community owner only or even a group of approved members than you should stay with Pages. See also IPS community blog https://invisioncommunity.com/news/ that is based on Pages and not Blogs.
Pages is surely not so powerful like WordPress out of the box. Pages are still highly customizable. If you outline what you exactly miss in Pages, then it can be extended. I cannot think of anything that cannot be done with Pages.
IPS will never provide WordPress functionality for the blogs, or Magento/Presta Shop features for Commerce. IPS is for building communities first, not writing blogs and not building powerful shop solutions. On the other side BuddyPress or Magento Forum will never reach out to IPS. They are just not designed to be a strong community software.

It is indeed difficult to replicate. I assume that the issue was triggered by a specific guest user with browser timezone different from the events' timezone. The times were shifted by -1 hours. If the event was scheduled at 10:00 AM (Berlin) I have sometimes seen it as 09:00 AM and sometimes correct. It was a bit random, unfortunately.  It was also somehow related to the cache. After running support tool the times were always correct. Then some hours later false again. Probably, when the specific user has visited the site another time(?).

It is an attempt to use a XSS vulnerability. It was something related to DFP and AdSense ads, where it was possible to execute code through it.

I would like to "clean" the list of my purchases here. The most apps there are outdated, belong to 3.x, are not active, not available, cannot be renewed and so on. I would like to be able to delete or at least hide them from my list. This way I can better overview the applications I really use and need to upgrade. And I would appreciate if I could sort the purchases by renew date or status.

Sonya* reacted to Gabriel Torres in Suggestions for improvement on Schema.org tags for Pages
    Hi,
The current version of IPS generates Schema.org tags automatically. I have a few suggestions to improve this feature.
These tags are automatically generated in the Pages app, but all databases receive the "Article" schema.
For example, if my database is a database with books, it still receives an "Article" schema at the end of the page, whereas a "Book" schema would be more appropriate.
To solve this, I customized our "Books" database template to use "microdata", so our books have the correct Schema tags. So, we end up with two schemas for the record, one saying that it is a book and another saying it an article.
So, I'd prefer to disable the Schema.org tags generated automatically by IPS per database. I don't know if the current version has this feature already. If not, that is my first suggestion, for advanced cases where we'd prefer to configure microdata manually with a custom template.
Also, for database with news, the "NewsArticle" schema would be more appropriate, so maybe a configuration to select between Article/NewsArticle?
My second suggestion is regarding the "description" tag, that is missing. It would be great if we could configure it somehow, e.g., pointing out which field stores the article description. If empty, fill it with the meta description tag. And, if that is empty as well, get the first sentence from the article.
    Anyway, just my two cents.
    Cheers!

    Still desperately needed.
We have some auxiliary databases that are only used for database relationship in other databases. The records in such databases do not make sense standalone. I would like to exclude those auxiliary databases from sitemap. They have a lot of records that do not really contain any helpful information on its own.

I can certainly use it this way as well. Just to display tables with structured data. These are lists or collections of something, cars, pets, children and so on.
I have default templates in database. If I create a database I do not need to define custom template for it. I can just use (select) one that is delivered with Pages (Record view, List view and so on). I can customize it, but I am not forced to. So for the clubs I could select templates that clubs owner are allowed to use. Nothing more. Just dropdown field the same way it works now in ACP, where I select predefined templates for new databases.
I am aware of this. My post was just an example of usage for my own needs. How I would use it if there were a possibility to create a database per Club. I have just reacted to your post where you have written it were not practical. For me it IS and that is how I would use it. For creating club based collections and listings (spreadsheets).

Thanks for the insight, newbie LAC.
I don't understand what it is, or why it exists. It has untranslated strings, and it is turned on without granting it access, potentially exposing privileged information about advertising campaigns and impressions without any advance indication it would do so.
I'd encourage you to reconsider turning on something like this only as an explicit opt-in.

    A case:
User A posts status update User B comments on this status update User A makes another comment on the same status update User B receives a notification with the title "Reply to a comment on your status feed". Further, in the notification the link to the User's A profile can be found. The link is titled with "Go to your profile".  In both cases is "your" false. It should be "Reply to User A's status feed" and the link should be "Go to User A's profile".
