Does anyone use ConfigServer Firewall (specifically with cPanel)? I am using it but genuine users are being throttled and the log reports "IP too many connections" and says the number of requests to port 80 (HTTP), usually a couple hundred (e.g. 431 or 652). I changed CONNLIMIT parameter to 80;5000 and the throttling still occurs even at lower numbers. Anyone know the specifics of what's going on? ConfigServer forums don't seem to care about my post.

We have a six core HT server with 16 GB RAM. The httpd and my.cnf are all set as default values. This is the current server status. Clearly there is a lot of scope to optimize. I will be going with an unmanaged server for my new website that is coming in late May. I will be running IP.Board and IP.Content to begin with. I am planning on using the following for the server: Litespeed - I plan on going with the Standard (free) edition first and then upgrade to the paid version. Percona Server with XtraDB - This will replace standard MySQL. PHP - Obviously. Ubuntu Server 12.04 - Might decide to go with CentOS, still not 100% sure. I am also going to look into some cache software later. Is there anything you would recommend? Edit Also, I am going to be working without a control panel.

As I've said elsewhere... Source: https://eaccelerator...leConfiguration So after install of eaccelerator 0.9.6.1, setting $INFO['use_eaccelerator'] = '1'; is pointless! Use memcache for that. U can run both memcached and eaccelerator together becasue they cache differnt things. OR use xcache (slightly slower) which still caches BOTH. (easier setup).

First of all I'm a complete idiot when it comes to servers, I know how to pay for one, create an account, upload a site and away I go, nothing else ever gets touched. I have a VPS with Heart Internet, 4 cores (was on 3 prior to last night) GenuineIntel QEMU Virtual CPU version (cpu64-rhel6) Speed: 2393.998 MHz Cache: 4096 KB 3gig memory 50gig hard drive I also have WebHost Manager. Last night was one of our what should of been busiest times as it's a football forum and we played a local rival. We usually hit around 60 members and 150 guests on a Saturday and have no problems, during the week around 100 people online at all times. Last night we have an extra…

Invision lists some software reqs (PHP, MySQL version, etc.) but doesn't really go beyond that into what memory, cpu, disk, etc. are required. I have a VPS with a very good provider (buyvm.net) - 1GB memory, share of 4 CPUs, fast disk, Debian. It's OpenVZ. Right now I have a half-dozen low-traffic Wordpress blogs. It's running nginx with php-fpm, and I have it setup for 15 nging processes/fpm workers. There's usually 1-3 concurrent connections now (much more often 1). The board I'm starting is brand new and focused on a particular technology so it will take a while before it gets big. I also have an AWS t1 micro instance (613MB of RAM) with nothing running on i…

My forum is about tractors which have model numbers like C-160, B-80, C-195 etc... Search doesn't like to search with the dash (hyphen). When I turn off FULLTEXT native search, I can search with the hyphen but it's slow and inaccurate with other searches. I loaded up Sphinx in hopes to get a great search but I am at a complete loss how to configure it so it will search for items like mentioned above. Can anyone help me so I can get search working for my data? I am using the standard IPB configuration generated file for the Sphinx configuration.

Hello ! :) I'm trying to understand how to configure my server. I also installed mysqltuner and tuning-primer. They tell me that I should increase tmp_table_size and/or max_heap_table_size : I keep on increasing it, but it doesn't change anything, so I believe this is not the solution... How can I prevent tables from being created on disk ? Thank you ! :) Here is my my.cnf ( my server is a Bi Xeon Quad 8x 2.33 with 16 Go DDR2 and 2x 1000 Go SAS) :

Server Hardware Hey everyone so i'm on my shiny new first dedicated server. We literally just moved over to it last week, and I was wondering based on my current configuration if I could get some tips on optimizing my IPboard Xen slice in terms of mysql + xcache. I'm not a pro, but I have a pretty good understanding of linux. My main interest is in making mysql even quicker than it currently is, our current execution times for IPboard are generally between 0.05 - 0.09 seconds. I'm Also game for xcache config recommendations as well, if anyone has them! Personal Dedicated Server: CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 sandybridge (8 cores w/HT) RAM: 8 GB DDR3 ECC Memory [will be …
