I can do vps setup for free. ..but you are unlikely to be around to fix problems at 2am, be around for every patch and upgrade, answer a "why is it slow?" question in 5 minutes, etc. That is the value of managed hosting. Spend $40 for a decent unmanaged VPS, and even add cPanel for @ another $12. Have someone set it up, and in a few weeks you can learn the ins and outs.
