Current stats: Website average monthly unique hits: 20K Monthly Bandwidth usage: <500 Gig Pages served per month: 600K IPB average users online: 50 including guests IPB members: 2100 Has IPB, IPC, Gallery, and Blog My current quote for VPS (site5.com) is $53 a month for: CPU 2x 2.93 GHz, Memory 756 MB, 35GB disk space, 600 Gig bandwidth. This is about $20 a month more than I'd like to spend but I'm willing to go with it if I have to. Does anyone else know of any good reliable VPS service that could run an IPB like mine but be any cheaper?

Our board is running on a vps and because of various reasons it's easier to get a second vps than to upgrade to a higher plan or to move away to another provider. We were thinking of adding an extra webserver to ease the load on the current one. The current setup involves a vps running mysql (percona), varnish + nginx + php-fpm+memcached. A second vps would run just nginix+php with the first one routing requests via varnish. Is there any guide on how to do this properly with specifics related to ipb? It's a bit unclear to me how the uploads are handled . Would it be enough to mount over ssh the uploads folder on the second server? Any other settings that we should …

I've had Shorewall software firewall installed on my server to block Baidu, Yandex, and a couple of other aggressive (bandwidth hogging) search engines, but it is also blocking incoming RSS data. I know it is Shorewall because when I turn off the rules the feed data comes in. Anyone know what rule/s I need to apply to allow incoming RSS data? Cheers, Shaun :D

Out of the 10 years my site has been active, it has run some version of IP.Board for about 8 of them. Over the years, it has become a bit of a running joke among the people who have been around since the begining at how often the site goes down. We don't delete old inactive threads because they are often informational references for us. That means our database is large relative to the size of our user community. We've moved from server to server to try and cure our nearly constant database woes until finally landing on VPS.net where I could just throw more nodes at the server to make the problems go away. That ended last night. After yet another database crash, I knew…

I upgraded my VPS MySQL from version 5.0 to verison 5.1, and restarted my VPS server. Can't access site now, and root@vps [/]# service httpd restart errors with: Syntax error on line 9 of /usr/local/apache/conf/php.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache/modules/libphp5.so into server: /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.15: version `libmysqlclient_15' not found (required by /usr/local/apache/modules/libphp5.so) 8 # LibPHP5 configuration 9 LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so 10 AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5 .php4 .php .php3 .php2 .phtml libphp5.so and libmysqlclient.so.15 are both present, so I am not understanding the "libmysqlclient_15' not found". Hello ! I'm still using the 0.9.8.1 sphinx version... My board is version 3.2.3 and I decided today to use the new sphinx.conf file created by IPB in the ACP, but when typing : I got this error : So, I believe my sphinx version should be upgraded since I read that sql_attr_bigint was added in Sphinx 0.9.9. But how can I achieve this ? Do I simply remove the existing files and directories and intall the latest version ? And which sphinx version should I choose so that it works well with IPB ? Thank you !

Hi I have just moved my forum from an installation with vbulletin which had vbseo. It was located in a /forum folder on the site. The IPB is located on the site root, but even if it wasn't, the URL's were not named the same as before. I have quite a lot of indexed threads on google and lots in my twitter feed, how do I do this so people are redirected to the correct thread on IPB? I have already redirected it so if people type in the /forum it goes to the root. The thread URL is different on vbulletin to IPB, is it even possible to do a redirect? I just dont want all those links to go to waste, there are at least 5000 out there, each time a new thread was cr…

hey, im not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but my license expired so i can only post in this section now xD. Im having a few issues with URL Rewriting. IT involves IP content, other applications and the main board. Firstly i have them both enabled, and work fine on their own. I have my forums located in public_html/forum and my IP content index is set up in Public_html/ On the most parts this all works fine for friendly url, for example the forums show up as /forum/ instead of index.phpblahblahblah and same with any pages on there like the members page and calendar (forum/members, forum/calendar) When i create pages in IP content they show up fin…

I've just started using Amazon's Cloudfront from my CDN, it's lovely and my pingdom response times are much quicker than before. I'd like to use it for the forums too, for the css/skin/avatars/uploads etc, is this as easy as it was with Wordpress? Has anyone done it and can you post up an FAQ perhaps please?

I'm in the process of moving over from wBB to IPB. Although I am using a VPS to host the existing board, I have purchased another one which is slightly better. What I planned on doing was installing CentOS 6.0 minimal then installing Webmin / Usermin. The new IPB will have 1600 forums (yes, I do mean forums). The number of active users is likely to be lower than 100 at any one time. The number of posts is currently 6500 but increased quickly on a daily basis. What optimisation steps would you recommend I take? Is it even worth considering memcache yet? I figure it would help using mod_expires? ExpiresActive on ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 day" …

I noticed that with the following ACP SEO settings Redirect to new friendly URL format - Yes URL type - Path Info Use .htaccess mod_rewrite - Yes many pages are accessible with both a trailing slash and no trailing slash. For example, the gallery can be accessed via {website}/gallery or {website}/gallery/. Could this result in duplicate content issues or other [SEO] issues? Would an htaccess 301 redirect scheme (from trailing-slash forms to non-trailing-slash forms, or vice versa) be recommended for this software?

Hi there. Guests from 180.7*.*.* (180.75.*.* and 180.76.*.*) are represented on the forum as being guests. They have been there for quite a while viewing the forum index. Do you have any pointers on how to boot them from the forum or vps ? Cheers, Brian

For a server that hosts only a large messageboard, do you think a single drive, RAID 1 or a RAID 5 is most suitable? I've been researching some of the differences (ie: http://www.buzzle.co...-vs-raid-1.html) but can't really decide which is most appropriate.
