Four Year Strong
My site is running 3.1.4 and according to my host,"MySQL is taking up more then 90% of the daily server processes. " Is there anyway of reducing this?
Grumpy
You can 1. Hire a sysadmin to help you. 2. get mysqltuner (google it) and follow it's advice. 2.5 or post results here asking for others advice. 3. Upgrade hardware 4. Upgrade IPB... I've seen few posts in this forum where people are saying 3.2 is faster.
Clickfinity
My site is running 3.1.4 and according to my host, [size=4]"MySQL is taking up more then 90% of the daily server processes. Four Year Strong
Are you on a shared server (or VPS) or a dedicated server that is all your own? It's a VPS. We were previously on a cloud server with liquidweb that gave us no troubles at all. We will be switching servers soon, thus why I would like to get the size of the DB down. It's currently 800mb.
bfarber
You are trying to reduce the size of the database? Prune old members, old posts, and old logs. Those will net you the biggest gains if you are trying to get the actual size down. Start with logs, of course, since losing those doesn't generally affect anything else.
