In Downloads, you can add your own custom fields (ACP -> Downloads -> Extra Fields). However, only "text" field types can be given search behavior... which really limits the usefulness of having extra fields.. Please allow check boxes, radio groups, and other selectors to also be searchable. This allows for items to be much more infinitely organized when uploaders are required to select from a predefined drop-list or checkbox list to further describe their item, and then it allows users to directly search for these values.

Hello, I was thinking of how to improve the recent topics/blogs hooks when positioned on the center position of the page. In the current scenario they are leaving a lot of empty space which doesn't look nice especially when on the top portion of the main page. Attached is my proposal how this could be improved. (don't know how to program it)

I just want to say, whilst there are usually complaints posted in this section, I absolutely love the new software. It has been a steep learning curve at times – I have no coding experience prior to using IPB – but with a LOT of perseverance, I've been able to figure things out. As others have said, Pages needs some work to help newbies get to grips with it; perhaps something as basic as an option to choose between using 2 pre-made templates (grid blog, list blog) or a custom template. But what I've been able to do – particularly with Pages – is astounding. I have had to ask for help with coding the more advanced things (on here and from someone I found who's comfortable …

Hello On our main site, which is currently at v3.4.7, I have a login name of paul_c and a display name of Paul C. I created a test site by creating a replica of the main site and doing an upgrade. I knew the v4 would merge the two and I knew that you could sign in with email address if you forget your display name etc. So I accepted the default/recommendation during the install, to change signins to Display Name. I knew about this first time I signed into the site. So I changed paul_c to Paul C and signed in. Hello there. After upgrading to IPS v4.0.11, I can no longer change the users avatars (noone can), every time I try this is the result. In the old days, i would have found this setting in the MIME types as i recall, but in 4.x I can't for the life of me find allowed filetypes for avatars. tested with .jpg, .png, .gif which all used to work. can anyone help me please?

Just curious, why are reviews, but not comments enabled on downloads here? If no topic was created, there is no place to comment on the file with a question or issue. Below file for example. Where do we ask the author questions if comments are disabled? Was a topic created but there is no link in the file? I know there use to be a Get Support button that took you there for some. It is not in the files I am following though. I think enabling comments would be a good idea imo. Keep it all on the same page. Thanks

I have been messing with this for over an hour. I try to create a block, using the topic feed, select the forum I wish to feed content from, then save. Basically it just reverts to selecting every forum category on the board instead of the one that I selected. When I return to the block to view and edit it, it has also reverted back to ALL FORUM areas. Is there something I am missing here or id the software just not working at all yet with BLOCKS and selecting forums? Should I submit a ticket? I can't quite understand why I can select a specific forum area and then it instead select topics from the entire board. Nothing I have tried seems to fix this. Sounds like a…

I think IPS should include a default "dark" version of the stock theme for those who prefer white on black. Here are some reasons I think this would be a good inclusion: It would be decently simple to create and easy to update along with the white version. It makes it much easier for marketplace developers to make a dark theme, having a pre-existing design they can work from It makes sites easier to use for people who have trouble with bright screens. Black themes are awesome.

Why is it that IPB4 disables guests from viewing the 'New Content' link? A few of my users are not happy with this change and request a way to view new content in the same manner they could before with 3.4.X while viewing the forum as a guest. Any reason why this was removed? Any plan to reintroduce it or any workaround so I can make my visitors happy?

Wondered if there is was a possibility in the future release to have an option to create a menu in IP.Pages (using the Menu in IP.Pages or some other way) that only shows on there and not in the forum etc and also an option for the navigation links in forum, blog. gallery etc to not show in IP.Pages Hope makes sense ?

I'm needing to enable a global sidebar on my site. The sidebar should be present on all pages, including profiles, the message center, etc. Has anyone successfully been able to get sidebars working on ALL pages? Since I run ads on my sidebar they need to be present on all pages just as they were in IPB3.4.X. Thanks.

I have many youtube videos on my forum, after the upgrade the embedded video dimensions changed and are now to large/oversize. changing the maximum video width only changes future/new posted videos, an option to rebuild or auto change all videos on the forum to the new maximum video width setting would be helpful on ipb 3 I used to change the setting and re-cache and all the videos changed to the new size, so what's changed now I am stuck with oversize video !!

Currently, you can link to an album (but only if you own the album) from a calendar entry. It should also be possible to link to other albums. For example, we create albums for our event in Gallery using a generic Admin account rather than a personal account by specifying during creation the album is for someone else. When creating a calendar entry, you can only create under your user, and you therefore cannot select an album unless you are the owner. It would be nice if this was possible, or that you can create calendar entries under another user as well. Thanks

Hello, please (re-)add a preview button of posts in IPS4. The current editor is not a real WYSIWYG editor. First reason are the allowed BBCode tags. They are parsed not until you submit the post. Second reason is the possibility to use IPS4 without JavaScript. Then you have a plain text area where you can use HTML too (this is nice when some buttons are disabled and the admin has enforced paste as plain text but you want to style your post - thanks IPS4 to still allow it this way ). I finally got around to setting up a new forum, I was planning on setting up for a while already, and started doing this straight in 4.x (4.0.10.2 to be exact; this was just before 4.0.11 became available). Once more or less set up, I started adding premium member groups. And ran into a problem. I may be overlooking this completely, and also searched here like crazy, but I cannot find a place where to set countries and/or states anywhere per tax rule. Where is this hidden? I have been doing some skinning again, or theming if you like, converting my old ones to the new version. To my big surprise, changes in the front end also made changes in the back end, which is obviously not something I would want, especially not because some parts seem affected, and others aren't. F.e., I changed a font to white, and it became white in the backend too, making everything impossible to read, obviously. So my urgent request is: By all means, make it skinnable, but please do separate the front end themes from the back end ones. Or alternatively, make them really completely the same, and not partly.
