Hi there, When a user does not have permission to upload to a downloads category it still shows up in the "create" drop-down menu greyed out. It would be great if the category did not show at all since the user can't upload to it. On our site I had to change the order of the categories so the editable categories are at the top otherwise they'll have to scroll down past the greyed out categories to upload.

Would be cool to have pictures and video in activity stream. Im not a designer of course, I've just tried to depicture how I imagine this. To my opinion, That would make IPB much more attractive for ones who seek a platform for online community. I vote for activity stream improvements.

I've been waiting for better handling of user attached videos for a while. I think this feature was on the roadmap when IPS4 was first released, but since then there seems to have been little progress in this area (unless I missed it). What I'd like to see is support for encoding uploaded videos via a transcoding service (with built in support for Amazon Video Transcoding or configurable local ffmpeg transcoding) and built-in Video Player for streaming the attachment. It is rather easy to run ffmpeg in a Docker container on a server these days to host the transcoding service locally, but Amazon also has a very reasonably priced service for transcoding, storage, and s…

I suggested this a couple years back, but nothing was really done to improve support for sites that want to use real names instead of aliases. I think it is time for IPS to implement first class support for Real Names as an ACP option in the suite. Sites like Facebook have made it acceptable to use your real name on many sites that offer to publish posts or send messages to others on the site. In fact, encouraging users to use real names on a site often results in a more civil discussion where users can't hide behind an anonymous alias to post. IPS4 probably can't enforce real names, but a site's admin could require real names at sign up and challenge any names …

The UI for uploading and cropping a photo for your profile/avatar is very limited and should be improved. Currently, when you save the uploaded photo, a cropper dialog pops up with a very small version of the photo with a cropping rectangle meant for selecting the portion of the photo to crop for the profile/avatar. The current UI might have been acceptable a few years ago, but these days it just isn't what most users expect. I believe this page could be greatly improved from the user's point of view. Currently I have a very small word filter - just a few curse words (with the f-word being the only "loose" one). I've gotten a few emails lately about members having trouble starting threads, so I logged in as one and created a thread. This member said he was trying to create a poll, so I added a poll, and reflexively added tags. The tags were "test" and "testing" and the subject was "test" and the poll questions/answers were something like "what the heck?" and "you know it". Simple stuff. As it is now we add our own version and the software supplies the version ID. The downside to this system is the version ID is not used in the front-end and imo this is probably the most important aspect to this system. The end-user relies on this information at first glance to see if they are using the current version. I also doubt as a general rule a end-user would not be entering Designers Mode just to check version ID. I suggest to utilize the version ID better to incorporate a straight number system in the version itself.. For example, instead of the author filling out the version, make it number select with decimals and incorporate the version ID the same way …

Hi. On IPS Board I've just noticed a less than ideal behaviour, which might be nice to adjust if practical? By default the Contact Us link opens the built in contact form. In settings - System/Contact us, there is an option to send users to a URL instead. I have selected this option and entered a contact me link from a totally different domain of mine. This link works OK. But when a user hovers over the "Contact Us" link they are shown that the link goes to MyDomain/Forums/contact - but the link is directed to the link I have specified instead which is A_totallydifferentDomain/contact.php. I know when you click on Check for Updates you are supposed to see which applications and plugins are out of date. This works fine for the core IPS applications, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to work for third party products. So the only way I know of to check for out of date third party products is to go to my Applications and Plugins pages and compare what I have installed to those in the Marketplace. I print out my Applications and Plugins pages and then go into the Marketplace to compare. Pretty tedious. It's particularity annoying for Plugins since you have to drill down to each individual plugin to get the version number. I then have to write it down …

Hi, My website is using the Pages app as default. So I've got something like : Homepage, Section 1, Section 2, Section 3, Forum, etc On the Pages app, I have created folders reflecting this structure: /Folder1/Page1 /Folder1/Page2 etc.. Is there any plans in the work to improve the landing page if the gallery system? Before in past version it had squares and other way to make photos pop out more are some way to make it stand out more. Are they plans to improve some functions of Gallery is where I'm getting to.

We often right-click on a forum title to copy the URL, as per the screenshot below. The unwanted side-effect of this is that it makes the title field editable. Given that titles can be edited from within the thread itself, we would prefer for the title in that list to not be editable accidentally like this: With regards to how the title CAN be edited, it'd be fantastic to bring back "Edit Title" to the list of "Moderation Actions" at the top of a thread instead Cheers, Vero

Hi, Please can you add support for "Adding media files from server path" (for bulk importing of existing images on our websites into the Gallery)? Real world example - I have 1000's of images in sub-folders being displayed elsewhere on my website and more importantly hosted on my website, that I want to import into my Gallery so my Members can make better use of them. I don't want to have to duplicate them all or re-upload. Secondly please could you add support for "Add media files from URL"? I think the list mode to show everything is not 2017. Screens are build to show wide. Why can´t we choose grid mode in downloads and search as default? This is better and more overview, not scroll all the time.

I think IPS4 should have built-in support for Emojis. Emojis are a standard that almost all mobile and desktop devices/OS's. Although the user can insert Emojis directly into content (?), the emoji will display differently depending on the device/app/OS being used to display the UTF8 text and there is still a chance the user will be using a browser/email client that doesn't fully display all the emoji that the OP included in the post. I want to start to sell more stuff than just my one forum subscription product, but I’m am surprised to see that store is treated rather differently than the other apps when it comes to “content discovery”. I don’t seem to be able to have newly added products to appear in the activity feeds, so my users won’t see that I added a new product. Why is that? Why can I have a new file or gallery image in the feed but not a new product with it’s image? I can’t even put a widget in the sidebar, since there are no Commerce item widgets available AT ALL. You only have the ability to set new featured images for category covers, but you don't have an "unfeature" option. This poses a problem if I'd like to use the latest image within a category to automatically be set as the category cover, when there's an existing image set as featured image. All I can do is manually set new featured images, but I can never revert back to no featured images.

I view my future competitor as Reddit…. I have been thinking of some features that would make this IPS equal to and superior what is out there now…. Users should be able to start their own categories. (Not sure how this would be done… but Reddit seems to have it worked out) This is becoming a major reason why I think forum traffic isn’t growing as fast as it once was.
