I'm developing a pages database similar to the "Recipe" example described in the "Help Guides". This database contains a number of custom fields, some of them contain "number" fields. Now the idea is to be able to sort the records according to the number in the field, ascending or descending. I've activated a default sorting for the relevant field in Databases > Edit database > Option > Field Options When loading the database, the sorting works as expected. Problem: When sorting the records according another custom (number) field, the sort order is not correct anymore. Using a default field to sort records works with all fields, however when using cu…

Currently all the posts in a discussion topic is shown in chronological order (latest post at the end). Should have an option to show posts in reverse chronological order too, where the latest post comes at the top, below the title. This is important since some discussions, the latest information matter more and then this would be logical and intuitive. For example, if the topic is discussion of some live event development, the latest update is most relevant rather than the first reply after topic was started. This feature was present in version 3.X. Please consider adding this in 4.X since extremely important for us. Please contribute if anyone else also finds this relev…

Clubs+map, ips already has the good community structure, now just miss store template inside the club. I would like create a club as a Store for my member, inside the club with store template. My member as owner can sell and manage their business, grocery shopping etc. Finally I will have a marketplace in my community, user just use club map to find nearby places (restaurants, grocery store etc), then can shopping in the club store, club store received user's order or try to confirm the order, last step store owner send products by delivery or take over by the user. This feature will consider by IPS team? @Charles

Should the ACP be pulling things from my default theme? It never has before (especially since they were separate before) but I'm seeing random elements that are obviously from my default theme that I'm adjusting and its a little weird. I need to know if I should be reporting it as a bug or if this is the expected behavior. Example: I overloaded the default spinner with a gif of my own on my default theme and this is something I'm seeing. I see it on the main theme as well so I know that its a theme issue but is that expected behavior in the ACP, to see my front end changes like that?

It is in the end of the menu... we have to scroll down the entire menu. Not good.

The interface has unnecessary duplicate elements in some places. It would be great to get rid of this duplication and thereby simplify the interface and make it more clean and readable. Here is some examples:

Currently, if quote height is more than 7 lines, everything after the 7th line is hidden under the "Expand" button. But it is not a good idea to use this logic for quotes where height is insignificantly more than 7. Here is the example: As you can see, using "Expand" in this case is unnecessary and only complicates the interface and adds inconvenience. Instead of hiding everything after the 7th line, even if quote height is just 8 lines, I suggest hiding the quoted content after the 7th line only if the content height is more than 12 lines.

With FA6's release on the horizon (a little over a month), does Invision plan on updating the FA version anytime soon? I've seen so many topics/posts from members asking for an update to FA5, but IPB 4.5 looks to still be using a version of FA4. https://fontawesome.com/6

I'm getting quite a lot of Bots registering on my site using Google & Facebook Sign in. There is currently no way to stop this from happening. Some of the bots get stuck and register with "No Name" because I have configured "Display name to use when creating an account" to "Ask the user to provide a display name" - but some bots, even provide a name here. It would be good to have some kind of (invisible) captcha at some point, to eliminate bots! Thanks.

One of the new features I am most excited about is the ability to attach free stock images to the post. It took me a while to find that this is buried deep in "Other Media->Insert a stock photo". There is absolutely no way I can communicate that properly to my members and you know the saying (rephrasing/butchering it probably): "If you need to explain your user interface, you have a bad user interface". For all years since 4.x is live I never ever looked and used this menu and I believe neither most of my members. Can the options be spread throughout the upload bar instead:

Hi there! I had an idea. I would love to utilize the concept behind tapping in stories on Instagram. When you see someone has 30 stories posted, you tend to tap tap tap to quickly sort through them. I'd love to see that tap tap tap concept utilized in comments on a topic. For example, each time you tap, you're auto-scrolled to the next person's comment (versus manually scrolling). This might be an app-only feature, but it's worth discussing. It's super convenient (and we know, generally speaking, people are lazy). If we can click a button to scroll back up to the page, I'm sure there's a way to cleverly devise a jump to the next comment button…

Is this a feature? When I click on a topic title, if I don't click on the list time it was posted like "just now" "5 mins ago" then instead of going to the last unread posts of the topic, it takes me to the first post of the topic! This is very strange and its always been like this on invision hasn't it? I thought at least 4.5 would have added at least the option of what happens when you click on a post title. Either: Click on topic title and go to the first post in the title Click on the topic title and it goes to the posts you have not seen yet Sorry if this is posted elsewhere or if there is in fact a setting I can change or if there is a modi…

this was standard in vBulletin. Sometimes we look for threads which have a lot in common and when we find that there is an issue which tends to be "trending" then we used to be able to move them all into a new sub- forum. With Invision, we can use the search function to identify all the threads – but there is no checkbox on the right-hand side which allows you to select them all – or to select the ones that you want – and then to move them from wherever they are to a particular destination. That would be hugely useful to us.

I responded in another comment with the below, but figured it deserves its own dedicated topic. 🙂 I would LOOOVE to see a hashtags feature. Would it be possible to re-purpose / reutilize the Tags feature? Members could use Tags (as hashtags) in their posts / comments. When you click on the hashtag, it links you to a search page where other members have also used that same hashtag. Then, include a way to show Trending hashtags in a widget based off of usage (like the Popular Now or tag cloud widgets). I would be super interested in this and I know my members would love it. There's a lot of #JusticeFor campaigns on social media, and that coul…

Hey team, had an idea... I'd love to see a stationary footer menu viewable at all times on mobile. I think there are so many under-utilized sections of IPB that users should know about, but it gets buried. If we could have a secondary footer menu like Twitter, we could have people at the tap of a button see what's currently trending (popularly now), trending hashtags, chat room, calendar, basically whatever you want! Thoughts?

Rather than making forum owners duplicate all the words in both the bad word filter and unregisterable names filter, give a toggle option to apply all words in the bad words filter to a user's choice of username. You could extend this to custom user fields too - after all, if there's a word in your bad word filter, you're not likely wanting to see this appear inside a profile either! Original post

We would like a way to keep IP address information from being viewable by moderators, yet still allow them to use the IP address tools to find individuals who register more than one account and see posts that have been made by the same address. Please consider making these tools available, yet with a hash or some other unique string that can be used to translate what is reported by a moderator as a problem, only viewed by trusted administrators, while keeping moderators from viewing the actual IP address. There are jurisdictions where this information is sensitive and access should be minimized. Instead, have something like a hash or string that represents …
