I uploaded 4.0 over 3.4 files, and it did nothing but create pages showing PHP code. So I gutted the files and uploaded 4.0. It's so completely different in my database. Can I just port over my users and topics? If not, I'd say the instructions given here http://community.invisionpower.com/4docs/getting-started/install-and-upgrade-r8/ are completely inadequate. I mean crap...tell me there is a way to port over my pre-existing forum.

In 3.4.x if we had a forum that could be viewed, but not the topics/posts, it would still show post count(s) and would say Protected Forum instead of the last post information. Now, on 4.0.2, it does not display any post count and says "No Posts Here Yet". How do I get it to show post count/protected forum again? By showing no post count and displaying No Posts Here Yet, it makes the site look DEAD, which is a very bad thing. We have a need to have certain forums restricted from certain member groups and guests, but we want the post count to still be displayed like before so people know that there is activity going on. -RazorSEdge (Cory)

How do you remove index.php from the URL of pages? I'd like the URL to be structured like this site - domain.com/forum or domain.com/blogs - and not domain.com/index.php?/forum/

Good evening, I only bought IPB4 today so excuse my lack of knowledge. I created a new theme from scratch and am slowly finding my way through the options and features. I am now looking to edit my CSS files, but when I go to the editing screen I cannot see any of these files except for custom.css. How do I go about editting the other (standard) .css files? Cheers! I'm just getting back into running forum software after 10 years. I turned the signatures on everywhere that I could find in AdminCP. They show up in the profiles as being able to add one (Labeled: core_pfieldgroups_0) but anything that you add is not seen when posting. I ensured that all members were enabled to see signatures. That last part leads me to a second question: How do you make global changes in the members group? For some reason, the default when I made the group was signatures un-enabled. I had to do each member's profile individually because I didn't know how to make a global change.

Okay, so after upgrading that conversion task that runs. It doesn't appear to be moving onto the next area. on the dashboard I see this Locked TasksThe following tasks appear to be locking frequently: queue.But when I try to run it manually, I get a connection reset. Any tips?

I noticed that our banned members were ALL unbanned upon upgrade. Do we now have to create our own banned member group and re-move all of those accounts into it? Or is this something I should post in the bug tracker? Thank you, Cory (RazorSEdge)

I was one of the few people that wanted the homepage of my site to be a forum thread list. Since moving from mybb. Now if you have just 1 forum its easy as the ip4 software does it for you. But if you want to do it and have another forum page it breaks and shows Categories instead. This is a workaround to allow you to have a threadlist homepage with the ability to still have more than 1 forum. Hopefully this helps someone else with the same desire. Step 1: Set default application to forums if it is not already. Step 2: Create the Forum Structure: Create a Category and then a sub forum (discussion), Then for each threadlist forum you want. As I am getting errors while running the background processes manually (Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\xampp\htdocs\nobiliana\system\Db\Db.php on line 387), I will now try to use a cron to run tasks. Kinda confused here and it seems this should be straight forward but ehhh Pretty simple here. I want to sell a theme and I have downloads and commerce. I would like to use commerce so I can move the user into a new group after purchase. I can't see a way to move a user to a new group after purchase buy just using downloads unless I'm missing something. Well, I'm missing a lot. Arrrrg, I can't believe we have no documentation.. Better yet, how do I do this like IPB does it? Thee customer makes a purchase through the store and the product ends up in their client area. Of course any help here appreciated Thank you

So not too sure whats going on and ip staff can't seem to figure it out either but Im having issues when customers sign up with an outlook account. They just don't seem to get the validation email. Iv created a real email (setup through cpanel) and I'm using the php mail settings because smtp won't accept the settings given through cpanel. The other thing iv tried was using an outlook account but even using an outlook email setup through the mail settings, nothing is resolved.
