JEFF MACK got a reaction from David N. in Is there a tutorial on how to build the IPB News Page?
I would like to create a blog/news page like the IPB news page: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/
Can anyone give guidance on how to do this or is there a tutorial on how to setup something like this. I do have the Pages app.

Ok I think I found the issue.  I went into Groups, then Guests, and scrolled down the list of forums.  There was a checkmark in the "post" column.  Not sure how this one forum that has existed for years had this, but I have removed that.  Let me see if this continues.  Not sure why I did not look there earlier.

Yes DawPi really came through and helped me get exactly what I was looking for.  The end result will not interfere with the normal replies with the forum keeping users happy, but also allow me to stay in compliance with affiliate rules.

In 4.5 we've tried to keep headers consistent, so that buttons are where you expect them to be, there's space for additional buttons as each page/app might require, and so that each page/app can extend the data shown in the header without the whole thing breaking down. In 4.4, this was a problem - sure, on perfect example pages, the follow button worked well in the top right. But using a different app where more buttons need to be shown, or even just having a long topic title, suddenly it wasn't so pretty and usable. The new header is designed to be flexible and extensible according to requirements.
It's pretty easy to take one particular page and find criticisms - but remember we are designing a suite where each page might have some shared functionality and some unique functionality. We have to design components that can work well in more than one perfect scenario.

This post is... not the vibe.
There's a way to offer suggestions and offer constructive criticism versus call something "absolutely terrible" that people spent a lot of time and energy on.

Hopefully it helps.  Basically I started comparing the install to another new site I am working on that is working perfectly. When looking at the console errors in the browser, it pointed me to the JS that is generated by the forum.  My live forum wasn't happy with the way the variables were set and it had a number for the height, so as soon as I entered that value, its like everything came alive.

The upgrade completed, but now I am having a ton of javascript issues.  Most links or functions don't work because it relies on javascript.  The editor doesn't show up, can reply or create new topics.
I uploaded files manually Ran the support tool, cleared all the caches Cron jobs are running, rebuilt proxies, still working on sitemaps Cleared datastore It is the default theme, i mean right now it couldn't be more default. All the directory permissions seem to be fine, not seeing anything else tell me otherwise. Some admin features don't seem to be working, like the Marketplace, nothing shows up, can't search, so some javascript seems to be off in the admin area as well. Any other ideas on what can be causing so much pain?
I have created a support ticket, but maybe someone here has run into something like this in the past.
I do see errors like this in the console:

Wow, think i just found it on my own, just because this value was blank killed the whole site.  The sad part is, i ripped everything apart, deleting plugins, applications, themes, etc just because of this one value. Not good.

Are you using Google AdSense's auto ads? If so, this is likely what is happening. You will need to disable this in Google AdSense.

If you use OAuth to issue access tokens for the REST API, then yes, it will respect permissions as configured in the AdminCP.
The API key authentication is more of an 'admin / developer' thing where it does not check permissions.

I just read this post now because it came in my email as i was looking at my email.  I am very excited that you are doing this for SES.  I am on SES and would be happy to test this if you want to PM me the update/instructions.

I'd like to officially lend my support for Amazon SES.
SparkPost currently costs me $20 / mo on a plan for 50,000 emails (and this was after I suppressed the majority of my email notifications to switch to a lower plan).  The equivalent cost on Amazon SES would be $5 / mo.  This represents cost savings of $180 / yr.
The cost savings are too big to ignore for independent communities.

Just wondering if anyone was able to utilize or know of a way to utilize any of the Points systems out there to post items?  One of two things.  Use points to buy credits to post items or use points as a value.  For example i want to post an item for $50.  It would take 50 points from my posts on the forum and I can post.  This could help encourage people to post more so that they can post items for free.  Otherwise they would need to buy points to post items.  That is the quick version, just wondering if anything like this is possible.  thank you.
