marklcfc
Nice teaser but I hope it's not all black/white, hope you stick to the IP board colourway that has mostly been blue.
Management Matt Posted January 28, 2014 Management Share Posted January 28, 2014 I guess now we've finished building that form, we should move on and start on the rest of 4.0. Good job team! 11 months well spent, I think we can all agree.
Soniceffect
Nice teaser but I hope it's not all black/white, hope you stick to the IP board colourway that has mostly been blue. I heard they are trying to cater for everyone and so its multicoloured. Kinda like a rainbow forum :P

ZakRhyno
And people wonder why we drag our feet on any major reveals :) Sorry didn't mean anything bad by it, just thought to give you some feedback. Don't you want stuff like that? Even when your in the pre-alpha phase? Your guys stay you like feedback just thought I give some base on what I saw. It will only delay things if they decided to cater to feedback / inputs from the community.
GreenLinks
I doubt they want feedback at this point. It will only delay things if they decided to cater to feedback / inputs from the community. Additionally everything will be customisable , end user can change everything according to their needs.
Rikki
Yeah, just bear in mind we're still building the software - polish will come in due course :) As we start to show screenshots, don't get too hung up on little details.

Management Charles Posted January 28, 2014 Management Share Posted January 28, 2014 Another cool thing in 4.0 that I doubt will ever warrant a full blog entry is the "Create" menu. It's basically a button in the top level nav bar that shows on every page. Depending on what apps you have installed the menu will prompt a user to create content. So from anywhere in the Suite you can click Create and the menu to go right to posting a new content item. It's a great way for users to be encouraged to create content in your community no matter where they are. Let's say you have IP.Downloads, IP.Calendar, and IP.Content installed. In that scenario the Create menu may prompt you to choose to create a file, event, or article. Of course you can always do the same right inside the app so think of the menu is a quick start. Again, it's a small thing but it really ties together the user experience and encourages participation.
Management Charles Posted January 28, 2014 Management Share Posted January 28, 2014 And finally one more tidbit for today: That's a screenshot of the footer in 4.0. Yes: we now have a simple contact form built in :)
Dmacleo
know search was mentioned few pages ago, really do hope this is addressed. I use sphinx (I deal with acronyms and abbreviations (2 letter) a lot) and would like to see some attn paid to this integration.

Quick question , as you mentioned it as Create Menu , does it also allow you to create a content for an app you are not browsing through ? Lets assume i am browsing on Forum and want to create a content on blog or gallery , can i click the menu button and choose that ?

Lets assume i am browsing on Forum and want to create a content on blog or gallery , can i click the menu button and choose that ? That's the way I understood it. Like the existing search where you can choose which app to search, you can choose which app you want to create content in from a global menu. Midnight Modding
Create menu will sure help me because sometimes I have a ton of buttons on the screen currently, which is obviously annoying.

Martin A.
Uhh, footer was changed but >flags still not added  So sad. Still hope this small but wonderful opportunity will appear in 4.0. Flags are added to the localization fields in the ACP. Think it's safe to assume it's also in the front-end selection menu :) Ref: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
