User Profiles

In 3.0, user profiles don't have the user's name in a large/noticeable font near the top of the page, as they did in 2.3. The header says "(user)'s profile", but it's really not that obvious. A username near the top of the page, as in 2.3- would be a lot better looking. Perhaps, right above the heading?

Community Hosting

Yeah, this is another post about the online limits on hosted communities. It's not so much the limits, but the fact that there isn't a "pay a bit more for no online/post limit". I could just as easily get the best community package, but I certainly do not need 4GB of space for just a forum, and still have a limit. And that's almost $600/month! The equivalent cost of 3 licenses, with addons for each! It'd be cheaper at that point to rent a dedicated server (does IPS even offer dedicated servers/VPS anymore?), and even buy a brand new independent license each month. No offense, but that is just absolutely ridiculous. Even if the price is for IPS's excellent support - and,…

Hey there, Is there any chance that those of us with Community Hosting plans can have perhaps at least 1 email address? At the moment I'm having to use a @hotmail.co.uk address to send out emails and often they just don't arrive at peoples inboxes and often they are flagged as unsafe. Perhaps with the $9.99 a month package we can have at least 1 email which is configurable in the CPanel? And then perhaps as you purchase a larger community hosting package you get more email addresses? I'm really happy with the community hosting package I have at the moment, but I think it'd be even better if you offered email addresses for us to use for our domains. Thanks, EagleHaw…

Well as we are in beta 5, heading closer and closer to the actual release, I am getting a bit curious as to the development of the subscription manager. Has it been completed?

I've a small suggestion to make with regards to the #show_groups# that people use in settings to display the multi_select group box. Something that has been a source of much annoyance to me for a while is that fact that the output of the shortcut is not sorted in any way at all, to remedy this I propose that the following code in '/admin/applications/core/modules_admin/tools/settings.php' be changed from: else if ( $r['conf_extra'] == '#show_groups#' ) { $this->DB->build( array( 'select' => '*', 'from' => 'groups' ) ); $this->DB->execute(); …

Hey guys, I am a assistant root admin at a forum. We have a BIG problem. Most, if not all, forums are unreadable to members. We've set the permissions for the category, the forum, and everything at least 15 times now, and it doesn't have any effect. Clearly we're doing something wrong, or.., what's going on?! Staff members can access the forums, but regular members cannot view any topics. In fact, on one of them, it just shows the header and footer -- nothing in between. What's going on?!

[quote name="IPB help topics"]You can view which new topics have new replies today by clicking on the 'Today's Active Topics' link found at the bottom of the main board page (the first page you see when visiting the board). You can set your own date criteria, choosing to view all topics with new replies during several date choices. where ?

Hi There is this part on the sign in page: * Start new topics and reply to others * Subscribe to topics and forums to get automatic updates * Add events to our community calendar * Get your own profile and make new friends * Customize your experience here It's not in the language files. I found it in this file: admin/applications/forums/xml/forums_settings.xml but translating this file won't change the language. I guess it's stored in the database. So how can I translate it? Thanks

Before upgrading to IPB3, there were some members in my community who would have problems with 2.3 such as logging in or other access problems. While I was unsure of how my community would take to IPB3, I have to say that the majority of members on my site have been pleased with the new version. Most of the problems that were associated with IPB 2.3 had been fixed with IPB3 and everyone seems happy with the new version including the new features. While some bugs have been corrected, I've been told, with 3.0.1, it's been the general consensus that my members like the new IPB. The only issue I've heard so far is that some of my members would like to see a feature which wo…

Is that IPB3 skinning competition still going on - who won? Not seen any news on this other than the competition announcement. Will the winning skin be included in future IPB3 releases? Ted.

I'd like to request something similar like settings evalPHP for applications. As it is now, all apps with a public title is shown, no matter if the user has access to it or not. A field for raw PHP code could "solve" that. And, a checkbox to completely hide the application from the main navigation, allowing us to make UCP-only applications, and similar. $show = 1; if ( ! in_array( $this->memberData['member_group_id'], explode( ',', $this->settings['theseHaveAccessToIt'] ) ) { $show = 0; }

If it is possible, could you guys allow multiquote in fast reply? Every time I want to quote a post I need to click the add reply button which results in another page to load. Couldn't there be a possibility for the quote to appear in your fast reply box? Just a suggestion.

Vbulletin has moved all customer feedback threads to a non-public forum so I can't link any threads. But let me tell you what's going on in that private forum - VB users are very angry and are becoming more and more vocal about it. VB staff are becoming very heavy-handed in moderating that forum. Essentially, dissent is no longer tolerated and constructive discussions about customer needs are a thing of the past. So IPB - keep it up with the great communication, friendly customer support, and great product offerings and you may just see a mass-exodus to your products.

The internal search system could cost a lot of resources, hope IPS can integrate the google search into IPS board.

The new IPB is so much smoother and more efficient than the previously released ones. It is much faster and better on the eyes for me. I think that you did a great job on this and I congratulate you on your release. :lol:

I had a question that I'd rather submit here: Does IPS Still offer their perpetual lisences? I was looking around and it looks like a 'no' I just wanted to make sure. I plan on buying a lisence as soon as I have enough money too, and I suppose I just want to have all options open to me. Thanks, E. V.
