Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted July 1, 200915 yr Before upgrading to IPB3, there were some members in my community who would have problems with 2.3 such as logging in or other access problems. While I was unsure of how my community would take to IPB3, I have to say that the majority of members on my site have been pleased with the new version. Most of the problems that were associated with IPB 2.3 had been fixed with IPB3 and everyone seems happy with the new version including the new features. While some bugs have been corrected, I've been told, with 3.0.1, it's been the general consensus that my members like the new IPB. The only issue I've heard so far is that some of my members would like to see a feature which would allow them to turn the smilies or emoticons "on or off" so that they don't have to view them. While there are some areas that IPB3 could stand improvement in, I can honestly report that the new software receives positive marks from my 700+ members.

You can turn off viewing smiles in posts under 'your options' 'forums' 'view posting email prefs'.
July 3, 200915 yr Author You guys are welcome. I thought I'd pass the congrats along from the members of my community. They really like it and say that it's a big improvement over the previous version.
July 3, 200915 yr It's always nice to hear positve feedback as most people only post when they are unhappy with something. Thankfully a lot do post positive feedback at IPS
July 3, 200915 yr Just so you guys know, the posters on my board seem to really like the new software, too. My co-admin also loves the new Admin CP! Jeff
July 3, 200915 yr Out of the feedback I've received, about 95% of it has been positive. Everyone seems to love the new skin. Great job IPS. :)
July 3, 200915 yr I showed my members and staff clips of the IPB3 test board I have up and they all seem to like it but want to wait for 3.0.1 for the odd bugs in 3.0.0 to be fixed before I perform the update to the boards and blogs system. :)
July 3, 200915 yr If you guys could put together a skin converter application, I'd call 3.0 a uncompromised success. Jeff

July 3, 200915 yr Where is this version 3.0.1 ??? I need bug fixes too. The concepts behind 3.0 are great...the execution leaves something to be desired...but this is a complete rewrite so I realize we have to work out the bugs.
July 3, 200915 yr Glock36: You have to have an active license to download v 3.x and 3.0.1 isn't yet released, just 3.0.0 so far.
July 4, 200915 yr Guys, I just saw the changes to the post-reporting functionality. Wow, that is a vast improvement. Nicely done! Jeff
July 7, 200915 yr It would be nice to have a Page Top button on the skin as you have to scroll all the way back which can be annoying in threads with lots of replies.
July 7, 200915 yr [quote name='EagleBurner' date='07 July 2009 - 09:56 AM' timestamp='1246956992' post='1821592'] It would be nice to have a Page Top button on the skin as you have to scroll all the way back which can be annoying in threads with lots of replies. Or you can use the sidebar in your browser?

You can do that with an easy skin modification that you will find on the resources site :D
July 7, 200915 yr You could Brandon but if you have your hand on your mouse then you have to move your hand of it, too much like hard work
