Hey guys, Are you planning on adding groups to IPS 4.0? Kind of like how Facebook has groups. That way, my gaming community could create their very own group pages complete with their own forums, group members, etc. Thanks for the help, Ryan

Not sure if you guys are referring to it as BB code, so essentially I mean - is there a list of items that when written in to a reply box get altered by the system to embed, i.e. pasting a YouTube or Vimeo link auto embeds, using the old (img)hxxp://www.whatever.com/whatever.jpg(/img) still works fine, but I can't see any references to what the full list is in either the admin panel or the reply panel. Would be useful to give my users a reference chart so I don't have to answer "How do I put YouTube clips in my post?" "Paste the link" anymore

Netcast (Podcast/Radio Shows) are becoming more and more and such people like to jump in to it. Would it be maybe if not totally ready to be upload and store on IPB infrastructure, but on the back end maybe code to allow people to hook in to the system to do such things with a podcast? An example would be IPB is not coding totally have a built in function but some simple frame work to allow users to plug into IPB Suite system to build off it. Thus allowing the content to connect with everything more flowingly than it just be attack to IPB system. Thoughts?

This is proving a bit of a headache for us, and now I see it on the front page of the IPS Forum. Bug Report: http://community.invisionpower.com/4bugtrack/ippages-no-entries-here-yet-r3862/ In short, under Feedback and Ideas we see "No Posts Yet." The total posts should be that of Company Feedback and Product Feedback combined, the same with Pages databases and sub-categories. The parent categories should be displaying the total cumulative articles of the sub categories instead of displaying "no entries here yet." Otherwise people do not click on those Databases in Pages or Forums in IP.Board as they assume them to be empty.

In Pages 4.0 it seems like you're dumping the entirety of the article into the meta name="description" field. This is really bad unless every article is only 150 - 160 characters long. Simply truncating the text is not the answer either. In 3.4.x we have two fields in articles for Meta Keywords and Meta Description and these two got sent out to the appropriate meta tags when the page is generated. Meta Keywords doesn't appear to be generated at all. I realize that Google doesn't use keywords for Search Engine results, but other search engines and advertising engines do. This needs to be returned to Pages.

Our guests/members relationship clearly increase if there are forum-links posted in popular, related, Facebook groups. Still, very few use FB for registration. Most probably they are not aware of this option. If visitors from FB were given some kind of encouragement to register it could increase registration.

The dark blue nav arrow on mobile to take you back to parent forum seems too aggressively truncated on mobile skin says "Product Fe..." See screenshot for good example. iOS 8. Perhaps increase width by 25%? Still plenty of space even at this small screen size.

The sub-forum dividers are very haphazard. Why are there bullets and commas? Why is there an extra space between the sub-forum name and the comma after? Using commas causes a comma at the end where there is no sub-forum after. Yes, this is for browser sizing but it is ugly. Using bullets only would fix. How can we remove commas and just use bullets? Thanks!

I tested in test forum to confirm. Any user can bump any thread to achieve the "hot" thread call out. This provides incentive for abuse. Please don't assume it's only all out flooding I am talking about as that would warrant moderation in any situation. Even mild abuse could be encouraged such as a single user making 2 or 3 useless posts in a thread in order to push that "HOT" call out. I suggest that instead of 10 posts in X time, we have X unique user replies in X time as the requirements to gain "HOT" thread status. By making it so that single users only get 1 vote toward the "HOT" call out it completely reduces the incentive for abuse (in any capacity)

Spent yesterday working on the theme of my test instance of IPS4 and I have to say I like working in this environment. There is only one thing so far that I don't really like and that's the fact that the css class on the body tag houses several useful classes but not one for the app that you're currently in. E.g. if I'm in the Gallery app there would be a class on body associated with that. This isn't a huge item and something I can look into adding myself as there are a few things I wanted to do differently in the forums vs gallery. Anywho to sum up my experience so far is great!

Could someone please share how I can generate an {if} statement around a custom field? {$record->customFieldDisplayByKey('distance')|raw} I'm trying to have it display content if the field has been filled in, and if the field has not been filled in I am attempting to have that whole block of HTML not display. I can't use {{if ($value=='distance')}} as the value of distance is a unique number.

Hi all Just did a test upgrade on our forum and I have to say that it went surprisingly well, as this is a rather large forum. First problem we ran into was the error "EX0 Something went wrong. Please try again." when we are trying to view Payment methods in Commerce (Commerce -> Settings -> Payment Methods). Any way of enabling some sort of debug mode to see the entire error so that we can investigate a bit. Kinda strange that most of the other stuff (Well, the stuff we have been playing around with. Think we have barely scratched the surface yet) seems to work, but not this.

Hello, I enabled Convert friends to followers when upgrading from 3.4.7. Guess what I got? See below. The problem with the new system is that, if you are following someone, you will get a notification of any content posted by that member (any content, including topics, posts, comments, status updates, etc...). So if I had 1000 friends in 3.4.7, that means I'm having 1000 followers in IPS 4.0, and everytime I post something, there are 1000 notifications to be sent. And I'm not the only one who post things, certainly! This is, I believe, the origin of many background processes of my forum, as shown above. Just to check if someone noticed this also. Some charts using New Relic on my server with average response time of IPB 3.4 and IPS 4.0. IPS4 seems to have a much higher average response time, 10 times higher in fact. This on the same server using the same database and the same resources. Can someone replicate this?

Well, suddenly today I was going into the URL I've been using in the past few weeks when it suddenly stopped working: http://community.invisionpower.com/forum/491-ips-community-suite-40/ From what I've seen, you've been changing some stuff in categories, and I've lost orientation on some of the topics I was reading.
