I can't seem to find where to set permissions for blogs in 4.0? I have many users that like to have their blogs restricted to registered and signed-in users and not the general public. Am I missing the permission table somewhere or is this a feature we need to suggest?

When "Require approval before content shows?" is set to YES and when they post the moderators are given only two options: "APPROVE" and "DELETE". Can we add a "HIDE" option also? One may argue "why not just don't click either of them so it remains hidden?", but then there would be an icon in the sub-forum list indicating something hasn't been taken care of.

I have noticed that there is a big inconsistency with the placement of blocks from the forums over other applications. Normally a Application will have an Index, Category Listing and Article page, in the case of the forum, Index, category and topics. When I want to place a block, I can place them independently on a page. For example, I can place a Topic listing block on the index, A Poll Block on the Category listing and a Popular now on the Topics Page. However, this is not the case for other Applications. Pages for example, if I place a block on the main index page, it is displayed everywhere throughout that Application. This kinda defeats the purpose of of having …

I find it particularly useful for my website if I could have some kind of auto-linking mechanism in the forum. In my specific case we have a Wiki with technical terms, and we would like that every time some of those terms are written in the forum, the word would become liked with the Wiki page for that term upon post. We currently have tried to "mimic" this behaviour by using the "bad-words" mechanism, but it works badly in a number of cases like, the titles should not be parsed, the quoting breaks sometimes, etc. So a native functionality properly made would be great, I figure this feature would be helpful for a lot of usecases not just the Wiki one, and could benefi…

There needs to be a sound alert that only activates when a user receives a chat PM and/or enabling mentions in chat. My members really like the chat feature - so much that we have people in there talking throughout the day. That's good news. The bad news is it makes sound alerts kind of useless (they go off constantly) and members can't tell what's only directed at them.

Would be great if we had the ability to also reply to PMs via email. Would save me from the countless emails that get sent to my admin email by accident.

This was suggested to me by a user, and I thought it seemed like a good idea. If users were able to add polls to status updates, it would make status updates even more useful for just quickly gauging people's thoughts on a particular subject (particularly if it's very off topic).

It's been a good year for IPS. I think you all have done a great job really dialing in and fine tuning 4.1.X version. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do!

Hi, ladies and gents Would be nice to have the option to set a timer (initiator can set it ) for messages to self-destruct. Why? Because in real life no one is recording the conversation you have with someone, so why should be the case in the virtual world. I don't know what is planed for IPS 4.2 (more social inclined as I've heard), but another thing that would be sweet is: members hawing the option to block access to their profile for certain groups, even own group. Social circle/friend list - option to forbid Messages(PM) and hide certain profile content for those not in the list. These settings can be locked (per groups) in ACP so that users c…

Hi, In languages other than English, words have gender, and this causes a problem with some word strings. For example, I am currently having issues with: cms_add_new_record_button content_create_new_button content_record_form_new_record These default to "Add new %s" or "Create new %s." In Portuguese, "new" can be written as "novo" (if the noun that follows it is male) or "nova" (if the noun that follows it is female). So, without knowing the gender of the noun that follows the string, the default phrase potentially creates a grammar error. For example, if we translate the string as "Criar novo %" ("Create new %s" - male version) but the noun…

I have two research databases on my site, both of which have their item language customized as "entries." All well and good, except that when I run an advanced search for tagged or other content, both databases show up simply as "entries" and I have to click each one, then the Categories drop-down menu to figure out which one I want to search (see attached screenshot). I think it would be great to briefly specify which database each "Entries" entry applies to, e.g., "Entries (Schelling notes)". If the database name is long, truncate it with an ellipse i.e., "Entries (Schelling no...)" or something - just so the user knows right off which database is which, especial…

It would be great to have the ability to choose images inserted/attached in an article/post display as a slideshow (buttons to move to next/prev image and swipe on mobile devices). That way all the images would not be displayed as a bunch of thumbnails but just one image (slideshow). Clicking on the image in the slideshow would open the normal full screen lightbox. I think this shouldn't be a huge task but would be a great solution especially for mobile devices where there is little sense to have many thumbnails taking up space.

Currently there is no ability to change the author on an event. It would be nice if you could change event author similar to how downloads app does it,

It would be nice if the following were added: 1. Colored when new announcement is posted and turns a different color when it is read by that individual user like topic's. 2. Announcements need to scroll. 3. Have a page where there is all the Announcements on them.

I think that each member groups should have the ability to turn on and off the profanity filter, rather than being a system wide configuration. This way, each member of that group or groups can decide for themselves whether or not to activate the filter. I think that it should be the members choice to allow profanity rather than enforcing this from an administrators point of view. I have had many of my member complain about not having the choice to turn it off.

While the REST API guide state that you can use the "key" parameter, there's actually nothing in the code to look for it, unless you run it from CGI (as of 4.1.16). You need to send a HTTP Basic Authorization header $('#action-button').click(function() { $.ajax({ url: 'http://csip.thaivisa.com/api/core/hello', beforeSend: function( xhr ) { xhr.setRequestHeader( "Authorization", "Basic " + window.btoa( unescape( encodeURIComponent( 'exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxe' ) ) ) ); }, success: function( data ) { Debug.log( data ); } }); });

Are there any plans for implementing Braintree as the payment processor in Commerce? Braintree is a PayPal company which accepts credit card payments as well as PayPal payments. The client doesn't need to have a PayPal account in order to pay with a credit card. There are also some extra security checks available such as 3D secure check to prevent fraudulent payments etc.

Plenty of alternative S3 compatible providers are available now at a price point far better than Amazon. I took a gander this evening to see how far I could go to writing my own file storage method but ran into the expected walls such as having to add the file manually to the System/File directory (Apps and Plugins won't let me hit that stuff natively) so naturally anything I move forward on is going to be messy. I was hoping the included Amazon S3 method was more generic than it actually is but as you know it has more than a few hardcoded Amazon urls and so on. Clearly it's doable and frankly, a generic S3 compatible method is going to be far less trouble than …

This confused me (a lot). While editing a post, if the user chooses to cancel the edit, they are presented with a confirmation alert giving the option to Cancel or OK. Which one cancels the edit, the one that says "Cancel" or the one that says "OK". The text in the alert box is so brief as to be meaningless. It would be much more helpful if the alert box were to say "Are you sure you want to cancel your edits to this post?" along with "Yes" and "No" buttons. Confusion averted and resulting in a much better user experience.

https://stripe.com/docs/radar This is Stripe's internal fraud prevention system that is now part of the API and so on. It's baked in, you just need to start accounting for the data.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? I think it would be a great way to personalize emails if in the subject of the email you could place {member_name} or other bulk email tags. The more personalized it is, the more chances it will get opened.
