Hello, I am going to make tests converting my vB 4 to IPB 3 and then to IPB 4... the problem is that it´s a big forum and has a big database and now I can´t copy the database and make tests... Can I make the tests with the live database? The converter it´s not going to touch the live database, no? It´s only going to create a new database...? Thanks!

Is it possible to create a single database page with an editor (to edit that page) without an index? How could I go about it? Ideas? You may be asking why not create a static page instead? I like experimenting and want a single dynamic page with an editor.

Is it possible to have a "see your own posts only" forum that is visible to guests, but can't be posted in until registered? I thought it might work with these settings, but the forums set like this do not show at all for guests (the guest permission mask is set to view and even read the forum). I was thinking it would open to an empty forum for guests, as it does for logged-in users who haven't posted in them.

How do I create a custom profile field with a text link and it show on the left side of the profile where the other information is. For example, Let's say I wanted to have a field that linked to my twitter page but used my twitter name as the click-able link.

There used to be a number displayed in the upper right hand corner of each post or comment in a topic thread. For example, the first post would show #1 and then the next post or comment would be #2, followed by #3, etc. That is just how it was displayed with the number symbol (remember that before it became a hash tag). Is this something that was taken out of IPB 4.0x?

Are the Admin CP and front-end themes supposed to be the same? Or is their a way to differentiate between the two of them? Every time I make changes using the customization module it changes both. If anyone could shed some light on this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi guys, did anyone run into the problem yet that template changes stop to actually take effect? Changing my block template code will show in the custom block (under view template) but neither the preview nor the actual site reflect the code change. I.e. if I delete all code from the template, go to blocks and view the template the code is gone but the preview still shows images from my recent gallery images. This is actually not the first time it happened but I renstalled a few times for other reasons and that fixed this issue.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this same issue with Gallery. When a photo is uploaded using Gallery, when prompted for a Caption, whatever is entered is not saved. It puts the photo name instead. The only way to change it is to go to Manage Image -> Edit Details and enter it again and save it.

My board has had username for its lifetime but now that I upgraded to 4 it has Display Name. I specifically asked for username when support upgraded the board for me. How do I change it back to username or am I now stuck with Display Name?

Hey, we recently discovered a small issue on our system, since we put the whole server behind cloudflare. The software seems not to forward users IPs which result that many users now have cloudflare IPs: The first one is as example my IP, and i was in my VPN, where the IP starts with 37.*, after discovering the latest posts, we noted that nearly every IP is related to cloudflare. its not on ban filter, it was banned by spam service . several hundreds of my members got banned by that service and when i check their profile and hit the ban button i see the banned IP but theres no option for me to remove that ip for some wierd reason

Hello, I just upgraded my 3.4 to 4.0.7 and it seems to be fine and nice, but i have a problem. The whole forum is loading a little bit harder than the previous version, and the index page is loading hardest than topics or forums. Here, on invisionpower the index page and the whole forum is loading faster than mine. I can do something to improve the load speed? Thank you!

Is there a way to adjust the 'ipsLayout_minimal' template, as is shown on pages like this: http://community.invisionpower.com/privacy/ ? I have no idea where to find it. I've looked all over the theme for it, but no luck. Ideally, I'd like to stop it from displaying so I can have the framework remain identical on all pages.

My site has been rather inactive for several years. So if I must make a mistake. It's not critical. I'm trying to delete in the members list many members that appear to be bogus. Is there a way to select that many of these and just delete no one Swope, kinda like a filter. Also, when a click on spammers. Is there a way to deselect one or 2 and then follow with a delete? Bob

Hi, we have a "Team" conversation in our messenger and one of the team members has mistakenly left the conversation. His name is now greyed out at the top and I can not work out how to re-invite him in to the conversation opposed to having to start a new conversation and re-invite everyone. There's some valuable information in that conversation, hence the desire to invite him back in opposed to create a new conversation. Any pointers? Or can it be done in the database?
