I can only imagine these price changes will be reverted soon. Otherwise, whoever is in charge of this should consider retiring soon before it's too late.
Went from $80 every 6 months, to $250 every year. $110 increase AND I no longer get basic support? I don't see the logic in that. Seems the very few who will stick around will just not renew that often anymore. So in the end you aren't really gaining anything, just losing the respect of your entire customer base.

So, we're just going to increase the cost of licenses without notice so no one has the chance to renew before the price hike? That is very scummy, and seems pretty intentional. We're losing features, getting slapped in the face with useful features that's cloud only, and now we're paying MORE for the same thing... What is going on?

Removing the ability for file authors to upload new versions while the file is pending is an awful solution to a very rare issue. This drastically changes how the application works, and will require websites like mine to completely re-invent the uploading process.
I wished we would have been given a heads up... Or at least some mention in the change notes. How can you change something so big and not even include it in the change notes? Something has to change here. You cannot expect websites to have to force users to re-submit the file entirely just to release a new update post-approval.

Would be even better if we could add/remove images while editing the description and not only while uploading a new version.

Add this to your custom.css replacing forumid with the ID of the category, and content with the unicode value of the icon you want. You can find the ID by hovering over the link:

[data-forumid="12"] .fa-comments:before { content: "\f3ed"; font-family: 'FONT AWESOME 5 FREE'; } ^ Copy and paste the block per category replacing the forumid

@Makoto's plugin will make this a lot simpler if you're willing to spend the $15 for it, which honestly isn't that bad.

The activity stream is a great feature but it lacks the filter options and prevents overall customization of feeds. Here's a few examples of filtering I would like to see included out of the box. I have a category to greet members and birthdays that spam the feed and I currently have no option to hide them.
    Filter by Tags
Along side only pulling certain tags there should be an option to exclude certain tags. For example, topics I don't want to be shown on the default stream I can add the tag: Private without having obey with the topic permission settings.
    Filter by Category
Allowing or disallowing certain categories from displaying on the default stream to allow webmasters to prevent certain categories or create exclusive streams for any one or multiple categories to display on one feed.
    Filter by Group
This concept can easily be nulled by the filter by tags and category submission but adds another universal filter for webmasters to utilize. This option can also bypass the filters by simply disallowing certain groups' posts from displaying such as the group System that a lot of communities have. As said above I have my system greet members and birthdays via threads that spam my default stream like crazy.

Please consider these additions as it would give more freedom to webmaster to customize their streams to accommodate their setups.

Daddy reacted to MEVi in Add in conf_global 'offline_group' => n°X
    Hello,
With COVID I have lost members/friends. I need to close the accounts of these deceased members but I don't want to delete their publications.
In this context it would be necessary to have an offline group, which has the specificity that these members do not have an email address, nor a password that could be used except the pseudo.
Therefore it is not possible to connect to it without passing through the Admin console and again we could imagine having a blocking option. These default members cannot receive messages.
Another application, for RSS feeds I had to create fake users. In this case the offline group would be ideal.
The fact that it is necessary to delete the email address of a deceased person is relative to the possible reuse of the email address by a third party which could create a security flaw.
The difference between banned and offline is mainly related to the e-mail address.
Thank you for your attention to this improvement.

Some of us certainly do, though I'd extend that to be a copy upon which we can continue to maintain and develop, so typically with the /dev folder unless we're headed down a path of reverse engineering. And we're not interested in pirating anything. In fact, we'd pay more to have the ability to do so, because of our organization's priorities and technical maturity. We've been doing this longer than IPS has existed, and we intend to continue to do so long into the future. Marketplace is simply an easy button that works for communities that don't have the same concerns and practices that we do.
For us, if we add something to our ecosystem, we need to be able to continue to guarantee that it will work beyond the abilities or intentions of whomever created and sold us the thing. We need to own the technical debt. In one instance, a developer unexpectedly passed away, and we depend on the solution that he built. Who provides updates as IPS iterates on the core software? Who prepares to transition the data within that solution to something else if we need to iterate upon what we started with? We need to take that responsibility on now of either finding another resource that can do it for us, or develop it ourselves.
We need to make sure that the thing, while probably working just peachy keen on a small install, will scale to the size of our environment. This was the primary issue we found in testing modifications from 4.4 Marketplace. We still have dependencies from 4.4 that continued working where the developers have yet to provide a fix to take things out of core_members, for example. Altering core_members to append a column with a million members is not happy fun times. In 4.4 days, we'd look at the install and upgrade segments of the code, and plan for these changes and run them directly on our SQL environment, as trying to do it via the web installer was an exercise in futility.
We need to make sure that there aren't decisions the developer made that introduce vulnerabilities or public information disclosures to the extent that we're able to double check that (one plugin we've used had an upgrade that introduced a front-facing URL that allows unauthenticated users to view proprietary, confidential data by simply visiting a specially crafted furl--we found it in a code review). We have a responsibility that we take seriously to our stakeholders who entrust us with their data to do our due diligence in our efforts to protect that data.
Marketplace is great for what it is, but it should not be confused for what it is not. It's comforting that IPS is looking at third-party resources with a careful eye now. But it's disingenuous to suggest that "ability to pirate plugins" is anywhere on the top 10 list of reasons why access to source and development files is important.
Edit: And we're just fine with having to maintain an active license to use Marketplace. You should not be running IPS in a self-hosted environment without an active license to ensure you continue getting security updates.

How do you make the determination whether or not an author only allows 1 license per installation?
That's a bit of stretch. It's more so to avoid paying renewal fees on plugins that haven't updated in months if not years just so you can use the same version you have now which you own a license to. If the license is revoked once the renewal expires, why am I still able to use it? This makes no sense. So either I have a license or I don't. This is information that should be available before purchasing a file.
I'm not advocating to get rid of renewals or change how they work, all I'm saying is this information should be easy to find before making a purchase. I've seen this topic come up a lot over the years. The lack of transparency seems to be getting worse over time imo.

I'd recommend removing the online user's widget and restricting access to the online page, assuming this is why you want to spoof it, as not to give new users the impression your site is dead. Having fake users does nothing but discredit your community. It's very obvious as well, no matter how hard you try to hide it.
Being the SEO Guru you are, you should know having relative headers and tags will increase the click-through rate from search engines. You should also try and get as many authentic backlinks as possible to improve your site's reputation, so it ranks higher in search results.
Since you're already willing to drop some cash, invest in a few google ad campaigns, and bid on some keywords to increase traffic. If the topic of your website is too vague, focus on something very specific so your ad ranking is as high as possible. So if your site is about apples and oranges, focus on apples and worry about oranges later.
If you'd prefer the plugin anyways then by all means. I'm not here to judge, just sharing my wisdom. 🙂
