Hi, we have problem with our site - www.audiostereo.pl. Site running not so fast, but acceptable, but adding posts its lottery. Sometimes its 2-5 seconds, sometimes even 10 and more. It was even 30-60 seconds, but Ive changed search engine rules. Now it takes data from only last 3 years. Search index was 4gb+ so that was one of the reasons. After cutting serach it a little bit better now - but still to slow for our users. We have 2 servers - one with apache for files and 2nd one for db. We are using MariaDB and its mixed - https://ibb.co/fkRGzbq some tables on InnoDB, some on MyISAM. Our servers are not so old I think - one for db is from 2 months ago, secon…

Hi, I’m using iftop and with this tool it’s pretty easy to see the IP address of the top bandwidth hog. The thing that is surprising to me is that if I take the IP address and go into the ACP, and entered into the IP tools I’m not finding anything associated to this IP address. Not a connection not a user, nothing. which is surprising to me because I’m on a dedicated server and this site is really the only busy site on the server. I guess my question is if this IP address is not on the InVision power site what on earth is it doing and how is it using so much bandwidth on my server? is there anyway to figure out if this is a genuine user doing something the…

Site is IPS 4.X, Apache on Ubuntu. Site has been running for decades, literally, with upgrade ongoing. Been dealing with an ongoing issue where 3rd party add ons often get uploaded as nobody owner, then when I try to run the installer get errors like the dir is not writable (even if set to 777) or you don't have access. In talking to my ISP their standard approach to this issues to run PHP as cgi under suExec. It turned into a disaster and I'm trying to understand why. First, a disclaimer, this stuff is way above my pay grade so if you can keep it simple. Steps taken were first to update ownership on the nobody files to my site username, probably about 200 files mostl…

Hi all I've been through this issue before and fixed it but for this time around I couldn't figure out what I wasn't doing. Here's the complete newbie thing I forgot. Just posting up as it may help out others who aren't as server savvy like me. My forum had slowed down to snails pace timing out every now and then. I looked into what might be causing it then found that my memcached settings were no longer working on the data storage page. The IP and port wouldn't set and I kept getting the message "The servers provided are not valid". In the past I had an issue with memcached not being installed correctly, a reinstall fixed this. This time it turned out that afte…

Can you please help me to configure a server? My data: latest Invision Community about 1000 concurrent users online database size: 55 GB file size: 46 GB traffic: slightly unter 5 TB a month outgoing mails: very very many through GMail Enterprise at the moment and I do not have proper bounce solution, so the stats are irrelevant. I consider to switch to Amazon to be able to manage bounce and to reduce outgoing mail traffic significantly. I am going to use: debian+Plesk* Wasabi + Cloudflare Amazon SES/SNS for mails Elastic (own installation on the same server or service? I am not sure) What I have to conf…

Does somebody know, what Linux distribution is used on Invision Cloud? I am configuring my new server and now have to decide for OS: Debian or CentOS. As I do not prefer any distribution it's hard for me to decide. I think that I better install what Invision uses itself in this case. But what is used in the Cloud?

Does anyone know how to install Redis PHP 7.3 extension? I am able to install Redis but not install the PHP extension. If anyone cares to provide extension for Centos 7 that'd be great or if you're for hire to provide those instructions let me know.

Is it normal that the index length of core_reputation_index is almost 5 times as big as the next table? I understand that it is ok for this table to have most rows, but the size of the index sounds a bit excessive compared to the other tables. Is it the same with you?

Hi, I wonder is there some configuring needing to be done on the server (or anywhere) except for IPS ACP. The search does wonders but I had this search service stop once and now I'm noticing that thou Elastic search works, you can search and find things but any new topics made in forum and new articles written do not appear on ALL ACTIVITY stream though it clearly should. Switched back to mysql - topics appeared. Something is still wrong..

Is there any way to disable search? I have a forum with 10 million posts, and any time someone searches, MariaDB writes a tmp table that fills up the /tmp folder (which is 4gb), causing server to hang till I restart mariaDB. Any other ideas how I can solve this?

Since the end of June my site has had a quickly growing number of forum pages that google cannot properly crawl - see the screen shots below (Screen 1). When I open any of these links the Google Search Console (see Screen 2) and run the "Test Live URL" there are zero issues. All issues are for "Crawled as Googlebot smartphone." I did a check of my change log for any changes I made just before this issue began, and I found the following: 6/5/2019 - Upgraded to IPB 4.4.4. 6/5/2019 - Upgraded to PHP 7.3 w/ memcache from PHP 7.1 w/ memcache 6/11/2019 - applied patch for Invision Community v4.4.4 I have switched to using PHP 7.2 to see if this changes a…

Hi there, I just disabled the passthru php function as suggested in my admin dashboard. BAM, website gone! Rebooting server still gone, add passthru back again and still no website. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm I'm not blocked by the firewall as the site won't load on other devices or networks and I can still access my VPS and Cpanel 😬 SQL did have a crash and recovered. Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers

Hi, I have here a root server with Plesk. There are some domains with inboxes for family emails and some mini-projects (IPS). Does somebody know what is really needed for the mail server/domains to be sure that all mails are delivered and no misusage through spammer is possible at the same time? Thanks, Sonya

Hello everyone, hopefully soon I'll be upgrading my 3.4.6 installation to 4.4.6 which is whole another world. The server I use today with 3.4.6 was set up in 2012/2013 and I'm think a lot has changed since then and things can be configured differently, new server-side plugins/extensions/whatever can be used to ensure my forum operates quickly and reliably. First off back in the day my admin hooked my up with a nginx server, memcache or memcached (I don't remember). My VDS server specs are: 4 vCPU (Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2640 v4 @ 2.40GHz), 16 GB RAM (RAM: 256 GB DDR4-2133 ECC-REG), Network: 1Gbps. Centos, ISPconfig hosting panel and phpMyadmin. My forum ha…
