Hello IPB, I have a BIG forum, which has my CPU usage pretty high. I have already optimized a load of things, but high cpu usage remains. My Host has told me that I should optimize my forums MySQL Database / it's tables. I would like to know, which tables can and/or should be optimized.. and hopefully lower my CPU usage a bit without breaking the forum in some way. Please let me know, I need this ASAP.

My server often uses 100% Cpu performance and i think it might be incorrect mysql optimization for IPB. Therefor i have posed my confiugration here. can anyone come with some good suggestions. # # The MySQL database server configuration file. # # You can copy this to one of: # - "/etc/mysql/my.cnf" to set global options, # - "~/.my.cnf" to set user-specific options. # # One can use all long options that the program supports. # Run program with --help to get a list of available options and with # --print-defaults to see which it would actually understand and use. # # For explanations see # http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/server-system-variables.html # This will be pas…

Ok looking for a ssh program for a complete newb at doing console stuff. Due to recent events my host is going to allow me to ssh into my hosting and see what processes I'm on, they have told me I'm on my own and can't affect anyone else's hosting space or the security of the server. So looking for some advice and even some good places to read up doing things. Mainly to allow me to find out what's suddenly decided to use almost 500 mbs of ram on a server with a population of 1-5 at most + search engines.

We are running IP.Board on 2 nodes, and we have conducted a load test with both read and write operations. But the memcached is using only 23 MB, and also found that the application is highly CPU intensive. Is there anyway we can optimize this, can anyone please give suggestions on this? Thanks, Bala

I've been putting in a lot of time putting together a good test system, which will require minimal effort to refresh. One of the steps is to change any reference to the original url which exists in emoticon's, and other things. I have written SQL to convert the posts but the old URL's are still in cache. I would like to have a way to clear out all the caches from a command line so I can script it to complete the test area build.

I host through IPS and when I complete my own backups through Cpanel, a copy of the backup is inserted in my root directory. Is it safe to assume I can delete this backup copy after I store it locally? My understanding is that IPS also backs up every site...but I don't think the copy I'm referring to in my root directory is their (IPS) backup copy. Thoughts?

Hello... I opened a ticket for this but waiting for a reply is getting rather frustrating. I attempted to enable OpenID yesterday, I thought all way fine until I tried to log back in to my ACP only to get this error: Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed in /invision/admin/sources/loginauth/openid/Auth/OpenID/Consumer.php on line 1184 Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, any users not already logged in recieve this error when trying to get to the site.. So no one can really can get to the site's home page without getting this error without being logged in. No one can register etc. For the record I have made no custom mods no changes to th…

Hello, im about to setup a replication slave to make my daily backup with no downtime (since i can't use it to send IPB reads...) I want to setup this to ONLY replicate the board's DDBB "ipb_forum_db" but im really confused with binlog_do_db and repli.._do_db Also to reduce the backup/replicaton size and load I was thinking on ignoring some tables content: +-----------------------------------+ | gaccs_template_cache | | gachat_log_archive | | gacontent_cache_posts | | gacontent_cache_sigs | | gagareputation_cache | | gareputation_cache | | gaskin_cache | | gaskin_templates_cache | | gaskin_templates_previous | +-----------------------------------+ IIRC at least templat…

Has anyone set anything like this up? I wanted to do this but I am not quite getting how to set it up. I want to automate the process so I don't have to think about it at all. Doing some sort of incremental backup would be best, but I would even take a full backup once a week if that's what it has to be. This doesn't have to be to S3 either - it could be to another web server or something. Thanks!

Good morning everyone During latest 10 days had lots of problems with my server which has maxed out memory and swap sometimes two-three times per day. The hosting online support mentioned there is "something" who`s eating up my memory they had upgraded the php to 5.3 and mysql to 5.5.x and they said to make sure i keep the script and apps are up to date, which i actually did, but the issues continues over and over again. They also mentioned the memory gets eaten up, once swap and physical memory max out, the mysql socket dies. But after being restarted, the dedicated box it's fine. However one thing is sure they can't tell me what it is, as it doesn't seem to be normal …

Hi, I am a recently new administrator of an IPS hosted forum. I'm still learning my way around the admin console, and need some assistance. On my admin console, I have a message that says: Unlocked Installer Remove admin/install/index.php from your server at once! Leaving it on your server WILL compromise the security of your system. I don't know how to remove the installer. I was told that I should SFTP into the host to remove the index.php file, but I do not now where to find the hostname or credentials to remove the file. I can't open a support case - my user name on this site is not associated with the forum I am now an administrator for, and I need someo…

Hello  I am running nginx, over time I have asked people to share their re-write rules on here but for some reason people seem to be a little unwilling to do so which is fine. I am interested in finding out where IPboard writes it's .htaccess files for apache I'm having a hard time finding them.. I have the one for the admin folder, but would like to know where the rest are that according to the ACP states this: IP.Board can write .htaccess files to non-PHP directories to prevent PHP and CGI files from executing. IP.Board has located some .htaccess files. It provides a very quick window that jumps up that tells you where they are but not long enough for me …

Hi Everyone I have shared hosting with GoDaddy and I plan on moving to VPS when I get a little more money, but recently I myself and some members are experiencing 500 errors on occasion. This seems to happen only when posting, the post does complete successfully but user receives the error still. Is there anything I can do or check to help with this? I doubt its a resource issue because my server load never goes above 5.0% And on average there is 100 or so people online at any given time. Post count is only around 40k. Thanks for any tips.

So then guys, I would like some info if anyone is willing? Basically I would like to know the difference between the different caching and optimizations you can use and which you would recommend/why. I know you can use some of them together, but I dont know which ones, such as memcache, xcache, eaccelerator etc. I currently have memcache running on my server on another site which seems to do well however I wanna understand it all. Also how are these set up on IPB? Can you set up more than one? Are the any recommended settings for servers? (I appreciate this is a difficult question to answer) I am using 1&1 dedicated cloud server with 6 cores and 8gb…

Hi all, I'm trying to block both Yandex and Baidu bots from crawling my site. In my html root folder, I've added the following to my htaccess file: order allow, deny deny from 199.21.99.110 deny from 180.76.5. deny from 180.76.6. allow from all Now, 199.21.99.110 is the IP number for Yandex, and according to my server logs, it's being blocked. However, every 6th attempt is getting through even on the blocked IP number. 199.21.99.110 - - [31/Dec/2012:04:10:29 -0600] "GET /403.shtml HTTP/1.1" 302 362 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; YandexBot/3.0; +http://yandex.com/bots)" 199.21.99.110 - - [31/Dec/2012:04:10:31 -0600] "GET /403.shtml HTTP/1.1" 302 362 "-…

Hi all. I have a forum that is packed with content. Most of it is very solid. But I cant seem to get any traffic to my site. There has to be something i'm doing wrong or not doing at all. I have no SEO knowledge besides the brief reading i have been doing as of late. But I cant seem to drive any traffic to my site. 80% of my members have been through word of mouth. It will be coming up on the sites 1 yr anniversary at the end of April and I'm wondering if I'm feeling discouraged too soon. Ive followed all of the Doc guides here and activated the MOD rewrite , friendly furls , and have submitted a site map to google. I'm not sure if its my sites structure or what.…
