Just updated php to 5.6 so that i can test out IPS 4.2.x and once update my live site, I am planning to update to php 7.0. While running the updater, I am getting below error - The upgrader uses PHP sessions to store data, however PHP sessions are currently not working correctly on your server. This is an issue you will need to contact your host about. Any idea how to fix it? didn't had that error before for php 5.5. - Thanks Session is already enabled and works fine for IPS 3.4.x - No idea what's issue with upgrader.

Hello, After update from IPB 3.4.9 to current version I face many problems with performance issues. It is connected with after-update tasks like rebuilding post count, etc. We were assured that completing that process is matter of few days, but now it tajes iver 1,5 month and the end is not even near. The main problem it is creating very high page load and for normal users speed of page is dramatically low. I am aware that main reason of that "extra" time is connected with size of my site, but results for community is tragic. I was looking through technical topics, even contacted with official support but with no clear method and answer how to deal with this …

To cut to the chase: if I wanted to convert my MariaDB to innoDB and optimize all my tables, is this something I would ask my VPS provider to do? I thought I read somewhere that upgrading MariaDB would automatically switch to innoDB, but I find the whole matter slightly confusing so I thought I'd ask those in the know here. I've already backed up my site so I'm ready to go with any changes.

Can anyone tell me if there's a Bug Tracker/Suggestions app or plugin for us to use on our servers/boards? If not, can someone point me in the direction of how to get one, or tell me how to make one out of the pages app?

Hello, So this is an issue i've been battling over the past 3-4 days while in my route to setting up my community. I have a ubuntu 16.04 distro with a lamp stack setup and re-setup my IPB 3.4 software. (I understand 3.x is considered deprecated but it's what my community is setup with and my members are content with it). I have been setting up hooks over the past few days to add some aesthetic to my community only to come across a display issue. I am not entirely sure on the cause (as there is nothing of relevance in my apache error logs nor in google dev console) but several hooks do not display properly which is noted in the pictures below …

I thought I would ask here for maybe some input on what to try from others. I do have a ticket in with support for this since last Sunday, but still haven't got anywhere yet. Thought maybe others might have an idea on what to try next. Backstory: My host uses a socket for their memcached. I have been using it for I think the last 6 months or so just fine. I even put a previous ticket in with Support and they verified it was working back then. Now I have been running just fine on it until 4.2 beta 4 which I updated. Instantly my site started throwing 500 errors at me. I put a ticket in and Support was able to figure it was due to memcached, but being the Holiday …

So I keep seeing on here from a few posts how Invision Power recommends running INNODB over MyISAM. So I am thinking about switching over to it. How complex is it to switch? I don't think putting in a ticket to IPS that they would do this for you correct? I have read a few thread on commands on how to do it here, but a nice clean walk though would be great. Especially when running into some that they cannot convert for being to large. Do I have to change anything in my conf_global.php file as well? Thanks.

Trying to get something to work with the REST API but am seeing the message 'Your server does not support authentication headers' Not too sure how to configure nginx.conf to enable this. Would I enable this only for my `/forums` (IPB install directory) location block, or just the `/forums/api` block, or server-wide? I am using this to enable SSO and a few other custom services for a Wordpress install.

Hi, my dev IPS 4.1 in support tool reports that "Server time may be inaccurate". My CentOS 7.3 time is correct based on London, UK. For example linux "date" command reports: Mon 5 Jun 14:51:34 BST 2017 while support tool: "Your server is reporting the current time as 06/05/2017 01:52 PM UTC which seems to be inaccurate." CentOS is correct. It seems that PHP configuration is somehow not correct but I can't find anything!!! Can someone help me what to check and where in PHP configuration or anything. This error drives me crazy. Thanks

There is a wide variation in statistics for visits to our IP Community. According to webalizer, provided by my Hostgator account, I had 151,249 visits in June. 5041 per day. The "Online Users" page consistently shows around 30 or so visitors every 30 minutes. Which can't be right according to webalizer. Then, according to Alexa, allegedly verified because I joined and added their code to all pages, I only had 11,973 visits in June, not 151,249 visits. Which should I believe? As a side note, I have my php.ini set to record a session as every 60 minutes. My "Online Users" page with Invision Power only seems to go to a maximum of 30 minutes. Isn't th…

Just wondering if anyone else checking their Error logs has noticed something like 500-1000 requests at a time trying to execute lines like this on their server? I'm getting this on one of my sites: https://www.mysite.com/notifications/?do=followers&follow_app=blog&follow_id=60&follow_area=entry2121121121212.1 One of the worst culprits resolves to Arizona, variations on p3nlwpweb060.shr.prod.phx3.secureserver.net. Pretty sure there's nothing to be done, and there have been no successful attacks - just wondering if anyone has seen this? These requests come to me from IPs all over the world, like I said often 500-1000 requests over a very short peri…

I can't seem to get it installed. Ubuntu 16.04. I don't have ftp on my server, only sftp. Invision asks that php-ssh2 be installed for automatic updating. After I install, and try to auto update, it whitescreens and until i uninstall php-ssh2 and restore a db backup, my site is unavailable. The update process starts, then it just goes to a blank white screen. I've reverted to doing updates manually, but it would be nice to get this working.

Hi My DB is currently MySQL, and has a mix of InnoDB and MyISAM tables. I am looking to convert to MariaDB. Should my database be InnoDB or MyISAM? Does it matter for MariaDB? As a general point? Cheers John

We are running on IPB 3.x and planning to migrate to 4.x . In our current setup (IPB 3.x) , we have a load balancer ( https ) which forwards the request to App server on port 80 ( running apache) and we don' t get any warning in browser console for insecure content . Wherein the same setup does not work with 4.x , we see below error in the browser console and the login also does not work without sso. "Mixed Content: The page at 'https://<<URL>>/' was loaded over a secure connection, but contains a form which targets an insecure endpoint 'http://<<URL>>/search/'. This endpoint should be made available over a secure connection" As a fi…

Hi everyone, Since the last few days several POST requests to my 2 IPS installations on Apache + PHP 7.1 hang and take up lots of memory (400mb per process). These processes run infinitely in 'Sending reply' mode according to Apache. It even ignores the PHP max_execution timeout. All these hangs occur when posting a new topic or when posting in a topic. And the script 'system/3rd_party/HTMLPurifier/HTMLPurifier/ChildDef/List.php' seems to be related, according to the open files information of the processes. The IP adresses which do these requests are from legitimate users. I know this still sounds vague, but I have no idea what else to say about this. …
