My server seems to be hosting about 6 databases, and I want to erase the unnecessary ones. I'm correct in assuming IPS only uses 1 database, right? I mean what would be the point of having more than 1? (sorry if the question is ridiculous, I inherited the site, which existed for about 10 years before I got it, and it and went through a bunch of transformations over the years)

I've found some rows in my database where the data appears to be corrupted. The process I believe corrupted them, was trying to restore to a backup process twice, without allowing enough time for the first restore to resolve. The outcome, is that our search index crashes on a weekly basis. These corrupted rows are in the tables the search index is constructed from, like the forum_posts table, and status updates table. The indicators that the rows are corrupted are as follows: ~ member_id = 0 (in all other rows, member_id has a positive integer value) ~ many various user names for these rows, all with member_id = 0 ~ stream_key = null for some of them.…

This issue has been plaguing our forum for about 8 months at this point. It's driving me, the rest of staff, and many of our members to the brink of madness with the amount of failed attempts to fix it. Every Saturday morning at exactly 4:13 am the search index table crashes. Hopefully someone who understands MySQL will be able to help here. IPS tech support has been very patient and supportive, but ultimately determined that the software is not capable of corrupting the database, and that it must be an issue with the host. Possibly their backup procedure. The host's tech support (bluehost), has been completely ineffective, and very recently STOPPED doing t…

Hi All, I use IPB 4.1 and installed MEMCACHE on my server, and enabled it in IPB Admin Panel. It seems to be working fine. However, I have few questions : 1) Memcached works on posts/pages viewed by guests. It does not apply to pages logged in by members. Is my understanding right ? 2) How do I check if a page is served from database (or) from cache ? When I look at 'View Source' of the page, it does not seem to be displaying any such cache info. 3) How does Google Analytics treat cached pages ? For eg, same page is accessed by 5 different users, then the page will be served to them from Cache. My doubt is that Google Analytics shows the nu…

Hello, So basically, since yesterday I am trying out a new hosting to get my already running forum with. My forum has been running for about one year on Siteground so far, and I am changing it to a "cloudflare-nginx" server. Atm, I am trying to run the forums on an alternative domain, just to check out the performance of the webhosting. The steps I've did were: 1. Backup entire files and database 2. Upload all files with FTP and import *.sql files to DB 3. Guarantee folder have correct permissions 4. Change database connection details in conf_global.php At first, everything seems to be working. Login in the frontend seems to be working perfectly …

I don´t know what happend, but my host said this when asking. We assessed the situation on your behalf and have to inform you that your server is running out of memory. This is also being indicated by the KVM output for your server which you might want to check. According to the error report the entire memory is being captured by Java. Can not access WHM panel because the memory is full.

Hello, I'd like to ask a question regarding some functionality I cannot see in current IPS (4.2.x). Is it possible to send a message to selected ONLY users from defined groups ? Example: I have a group of users in group, let's say 'Moderators' but in this group I have about ~20 users and I don't want to send to all of them a message. Instead of this I'd like to specify who should be selected from the list and who will receive such message. Is it possible in current version of IPS ? If not, do you know external modules, plugins which deliver such functionality ? Thanks, A.

Hi guys Upgraded to php7 and now website does not work However what I found was that if I delete the .htaccess file then the homepage loads, but if I click on any link to go to a post for example then I get: Not Found The requested URL /forums/ was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Hi IPS! We have a lot of applications and plugins in our IPS instances. Much of them using a lot of connections to other services, passwords, keys, some other values. Our DevOps team use fabric for operation thousands of different services and their connections between. So, our IPS config file is generated by them. With one command we can change keys, mysql hosts, other services adressess (if something happened and we need to switch it to something else). In 4.2.3 => 4.2.4 update in file system/Settings/Settings.php on line 54 you added new array of allowed fields in conf_global and in line 76 your unset any others values, which are not allowed by you! Why? N…

Hi, Recently I have converted most of the tables in my database from Myisam to InnoDB (IPB 4.1.19.2, 10.1.21-MariaDB ). But got the strage "aftereffect": 90% of the community works is very fast, but if I click to the very long topic (350+pages) for the last unreat post (for example) - then the server really start crawling and it even possibe to get the 504 or 502 error. Before the conversion everything was ok. Does anybody have a hint which parameters to finetune in Mysql to resolve this?

Hi, Each time I need to restore the forum from a backup (203 tables / 1'350'000 records), the table that takes the most of the time restoring is forum_core_search_index . I was wondering if in order to gain time on restoration, it may be possible to not restore the content of this table as it may be automatically re-generated after restoration ? If it is possible, maybe other tables of same kind should be ignored in order to make it work in the right way. Some indications will then be appreciated, Thank you in advance for your help, Z

I'm curious to know what is the size of your virtual memory? As I have increased 3 times in last one year and I still keep getting lfd alerts on same. Is this something wrong we are doing that eats up the virtual memory? Or just page has been accessed more frequently causing this excessive use of resources? I'm interested to hear what is recommended. Currently using php 7.1, set to dso, using php-fpm and opcache. my mod_expires looks like this without the ExpiresDefault "now plus 1 week" line as it seems to clash with opcache (pages are out of date, users logged out until page is refreshed), still not to find much more info on this. Apache 2.4 PHP Speed is ok but it could be faster with each click. Any advice welcome

I have just started using http2 and wonder if i still need to use this in my .htaccess file which i found in another thread here. Just trying to speed things up as best i can. Is anyone using http2 what are best practices for IPS while using http2? Thanks ## Begin - Expires caching <IfModule mod_expires.c> ## This rule will create an ETag for files based only on the modification timestamp and their size. ## Note: It may cause problems on your server and you may need to remove it FileETag MTime Size SetOutputFilter DEFLATE Header set Expires "max-age=29030400, public" Header unset ETag FileETag None # Enable expiration control ExpiresActive On …
