Hello, Would it be possible to add features to the user IP address tool? I'd like to lookup users by their DNS names, instead of by IP address. Another good feature would be to list all of a users IP addresses, instead of just one, and DNS lookup each address. Thank you.

When you click on the insert link icon, it doesn't prompt you to enter a title for that link. Why remove that? It's going to be confusing to a lot of members. Not everyone knows how to manually type in a bbcode to enter a title. Also, why add a dropdown for link type? Seriously, when someone copies a link, 99% of the time it's going to be http. This editor seems to have a lot of downsides. Another one is as pasting text and keep the formatting of it. Posts will look very inconsistent if people start copying and pasting text with different styles, sizes, etc. I don't understand why you guys make it harder for members.

...... so, i have a 250 message limit here, that is a quantifiable amount.... but its full>.< I have already HAD to clear a good number previously... 2 weeks ago. can we not have a move to archive area that doesn't affect the pm count, and becomes read-only? even if it was "pruned" say once every month-couple months eg, task admin could change.... hate possibly losing valuable info.

This is not a huge deal, but I am noticing the RSS feed from the calendar, while to truncating expired events from the top of the list , adds them to the bottom. This is not the case in the right hand event display on the forum home page. Look at this forum The calendar function is adapted to provide another function other than the calendar. Anyway you can see events on the right that are outdated do not appear. Now look at this site which receives an RSS feed from it. If you scroll down the tight hand list, you will notice it is receiving expired events at the bottom.

I thought I would give you my views with IPS, and how I have found them to be such a friendly and great company. Support The Suite Overall view Support for any product is always a first on my list... and IPS have certainly showed me they can do this, above and beyond expectations. I moved to IPS products over a year ago now, before I was running vBulletin. I did the conversion myself, but I had to ask IPS Support about one small issue using the converter - turned out to be some corrupt data in a field that was stopping IP.Board importing, so nothing major there. That was my first encounter with Support Tickets on IPS, and I was impressed by the time factor. A ve…

Here is an idea for 3.3... Open the db with a read-only user id and only do read-only queries while generating the HTML for a page. If the current operation requires updates to the db, queue the updates during page processing for execution later as a db transaction. Like the current shutdown update queries, wait to do these updates until the HTML has been emitted and the read-only db connection can be closed. After closing this read-only connection, then check if any update transactions have been queued, and open a write-able connection (using a second read-write MYSQL user id), apply any queued transactions, record to a log failed transactions (possibly as all SQL s…

I remember this being brought up before but don't remember what happened to the topic. It would be awesome if we could get a development license key so that if say skinners need to skin IP.Chat they could do it without having to bring the skin over to a live site using a key.

Here's a screenshot of my content on a forum I use that is powered by IPBoard: I've sanitized it, but the relevant information is still visible. It's not sorted in any fashion that I can determine. It's not when I posted in them, it's not when they were started, it's not most recently posted in, it's not thread title, forum title, last poster's name, thread starter's name.... If I post in a thread I've never posted in before, it shows up at the bottom of the list (except, curiously, above a single thread that I made one post in months ago) and occasionally doesn't show up at all (I even set it to show only my started threads once, and it showed four results.....e…

I have submitted a ticket about this but I think people should be aware My community suite was upgraded by Invision to 2.2.2 around Sept time and apart from some server downtime all the functions worked as expected. On Monday Invision upgraded to 2.2.3 and since then gallery doesn't work, you can't edit posts and as yet not sure what else won't work. I have been told that my php version doesn't meet the requirements for Invision which would mean that between versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 the minimum requirements for php must have changed. I could and probably have missed something but looking at the announcements re upgrades/updates I don't see this mentioned For me …

I am interested in knowing, (either here or via PM) what the roadmap is for adding calendar features is. Specifically (but not limited to) things like: - google map integration - adding guests when RSVPing - custom topic fields I am about to shop around and get some hooks custom coded and would like to know if anything that I might be looking for is already on the horizon. regards Richard PS: Don't go all vague on me with replies, you can always PM me ;)

Global restrictions are great, but sometimes they can be a little much. The ability to suspend a member's posting privileges or ban them from a specific forum would be more comprehensive and enhance the ability of forum moderators for their respective forums (if admin allows them to do so, of course). There is currently no way to suspend a member's posting privileges or ban them from a forum without creating yet another permission mask, and those masks can add up quickly. Not to mention that only admins can assign those masks to members.

This is my Ider... 1: create limitations on allowing sigs and profile editing until they reach a post limit. Because auto spammers will never reach this limit; If they get past creating an account, then they will be stopped by sig and profile limits, and auto spam bots will not be able to drop links... 2. limit any post that contains any type of link for mod review.... of course allow enable/disable options. 3. allow Q&A to be setup in the posting process, along side Capacha... allow the use of Q&A, or Capacha or both... Any of this exist already? and if any of this does not exist already, then it should surely be implemented as soon as possible.

I bring in about 15 different RSS feeds to obtain the latest news, blogs and info relating to my site. The feeds usually have about 1-2 sentences and then View the full article link All of these are posted in specific a specific container/category and it's sub-forums. I would like to see a feature where I could select to open the external links in an iFrame or something ajax related but only in the forums that I select in the ACP. Similar to how images are shown when clicked on. That way the user can open the link, read the full article but still be on my page. That way a member is much less likely to navigate away from my site because they get lost on the exte…

Just wanted to drop a line to say that although I am a coder being able to access the stellar support provided by Invision saves me a lot of angst. I finally decided that running my personal site on Wordpress (et al) was just too much trouble so now all of my stuff is now running under the various parts of the software built by Invision. Thanks guys! (oh and of course lovely Debbie) Larry

I just registered on adminExtra, and got my first Xenforo email. Holy cow. It looks sexy. IPB just has that image up top. What about containing the email in like a box like the competitors? It'll look very cool  Here it is:

Hello, I have a quick question: do you plan to release in the near future update converter to the latest IP.Gallery version?

When you setup a group to be promoted to another group after a set post count, they do not automatically get promoted even if they are past the required post count. According to this post http://community.inv...ion-doesnt-work, they are only promoted after they login and post another post. I'd like to suggest an admin cleanup tool to run after changing group promotions so that we can get these members promoted to the proper group. Without a tool to run, members will wonder why other members with high post counts are not promoted to the proper group if they have not logged in and posted since the changes made for promotions.

Anyone else having problems with the hosted board? We had issues awhile back, but then things seemed to be good. We have been down twice this week, this time is bad. Down for 7 hours last night When the board came back online it looks like a restore was done We lost 36 hours of posts Trust is huge when your data is in someone else's hands. Equally as important is communication and there just seems to be none on the IPB side. Emergency ticket opened 6 hours ago -- no response. Disappointing. Just needed to vent and see if anyone else is having hosting issues.

I think it is a good idea to set a requirement for files in the marketplace to have a decent demo, this is more so for paid files in the marketplace. Most, if not all potential customers like to see a demo of something before they download/buy so they know exactly what they are receiving. IPS know this by allowing for a demo of the whole of their Community Suite, so why not make it a requirement for marketplace authors to have a demo of the file they have uploaded.

I really like that feature and I've even gotten compliments from people for having it. Please don't discontinue it if it's usefulness is ever in question.

I realize that the use of the company forums are a privilege, not a right, even as a customer. I also realize that sometimes customers forfeit that privilege by being a disruption to the community. However, I was thinking that it would serve IPS' interests to utilize posting restrictions instead of outright bans. This way, customers with a valid license could still access the IPS Marketplace to purchase or download mods/skins, and search the customer to customer support forum, but still be unable to cause any further disruption to the community. If the customer required support for their add-on, that customer would need to find an alternative point of contact to …

My company uses FortiGuard (http://www.fortiguard.com/) for web filtering and they have flagged your (ipscommunity.invisionpowerser.netdna-cdn.com/) server as "Spyware and Malware." This means that I am unable to see any images / files on this server. I've submitted a ticket to FortiGuard to get this server reevaluated. I suggest that you look into this as well. This suggestion was inspired by http://community.inv...s-to-beginning/ which, in my personal opinion, is a real issue and has the same implications all over the board. You may want to consider this for future versions. For example, on member profile page, when you switch between tabs, you lose your history and "backing" will take you to wherever you came from. I understand this is done to avoid extra page loads, but for all the modern browsers (except IE9), which is now ~50% of users and probably 100% of admin interface users, this can be easily fixed by using HTML5 history API. Added benefit is that you can copy your url and send a direct link to somone else (I know yo…

Well this seems archaic and non-polished compared to the rest of the ACP. Seems to me like it needs a rethink? For example, when in the forum manager, I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to add a new forum moderator. This seems a little silly when we should simply be able to click the dropdown (image) and select "Add moderator" from the list. Also, there seems to be no list of all moderators in one page inside the ACP anywhere. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I have to drill down into the categories to find the little green badge which tells me there's a moderator..? Another thing is that I hate having to drill down into forums and subforums to find modera…
