    Hi all,
I apologize for not being available in a while. I have submitted a new version (2.0.1) with support for Invision Community 4.6 and a few bug fixes, and hopefully the new version will be approved shortly.
I have also decided to make the application completely free. The reason for this is that I want as many people as possible to use it, but also that I need to make other priorities. I will, however, be better at replying and providing support than I have been this year.
While we wait for the new version to be approved, please let me know (especially @James101 and @livegames.co.il) any issues you currently have, or features you would like to see, and I will do my best to fix them and implement them as quickly as possible!

Runar got a reaction from DamonT in Invision devs forgot # of views in Topic Summary?
You don't need a plugin to show the number of views in the topic summary. Simply add the following four lines to the theme file forums > topics > activity:
<li class='cTopicOverview__statItem ipsType_center'> <span class='cTopicOverview__statTitle ipsType_light ipsTruncate ipsTruncate_line'>{lang="views"}</span> <span class='cTopicOverview__statValue'>{number="$topic->views" format="short"}</span> </li> Insert the code on line 18, and the number of views will be shown next to the number of replies:

Thank you for finding the most recent working version of Elasticsearch!
Another thread with the exact same error was posted a few weeks ago, and later in the thread @bfarber posted the reason for why the latest version of Elasticsearch does not work, but he did not specify which versions would work:

Of course, and it wasn't my intention at all to dismiss your advice! My reply to @ASTRAPI was meant as a separate reply, not related to the reply I gave you. I see how it might be misinterpreted, though, so I've removed it from my post.

WordPress is an option, yes. It depends on your requirements and plans for the future of the blog, but WordPress should work well.
I agree, but for a basic blog without any significant community features there are far better options. It's like living in the city and driving a huge SUV everywhere. Yes, it works, but maybe a smaller car would be better?

That's a gmail-specific thing, although some other email providers do something similar. It would not be safe to blanket strip dots from emails, because that could open up security vulnerabilities relating to emails that do distinguish dots.

We were using CleanTalk to block and prevent spammers and it was working very well for us until IPS upgraded to version 4.5 and the plugin then needed to modified into an Application instead of a Plugin. I'm not sure what all is involved but it looks like CleanTalk is struggling with making it work with IPS 4.5x
I don't know about the rest of you but with using CleanTalk we probably got about 2 spammers a week that got through. Now with CleanTalk gone we are slowly creeping back up and at times now get a dozen spammers getting through every day.

Last year we also imported a huge email domain not-allowed list that helped a lot but adding CleanTalk made a night and day difference and after a few weeks of training we went from 50 or more spam posts per day to maybe 2 a week or less.
What are other using to help prevent Spammers from posting? The IPS Spam Defense just is not cutting it. It does catch some but not many.
IPS Spam Defense has blocked just over 20 million threats, spammers.
    https://invisioncommunity.com/features/spam/
Akismet has blocked over 500 Billion threats, spammers.
    https://akismet.com/
    https://blog.akismet.com/
Has anyone used this plugin below? What are your thoughts about it?
    Support Anti-Spam 1.0.0

Personally I'd like to see IPS step up their game. If CleanTalk was able to make a huge spam issue almost disappear as a plugin I'd think IPS knowing their code intimately would be able to do the same thing for their own product and thus helping all their customers achieve a much higher success rate at blocking spammers.
Suggestions and feedback welcome on what you're using to help prevent Spam posters.
    Thank you

I'm sure I've seen this mentioned before, but can we implement a notice/message notifying us of patches?

We have the notification feature in AdminCP, is there no way you can use this to push out a notice for us to check for patch updates?

As of now, the only way we know is by running the support tool, which is what I just did now only to find the new patch regarding Facebook.

Hello, this isn't a " flippant attitude" at all, please don't take it that way.
This topic has been covered several times however, and management has made the decision that this alert will not be removed, we show this for security and the customers best interest in mind, we are not being selfish, we are not being flippant, and we are not being pushy with this recommendation.  If third party items are holding some back from upgrading, perhaps they need to evaluate how much value that item is brining to the community if it's forcing them to remain out of date.   That isn't an item which we can answer for you though, that is your decision.
With that said, there really isn't much more to add to this topic, so I will close this up.  If anyone has anything further to add on this subject and you feel it's something you want addressed that hasn't been converged already, please submit a support ticket under your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

As mentioned earlier in the topic, there is a bug when sending private messages to members after X hours. If you set the message to send immediately after signup, nothing bad happens. If you set any delay, it will send the message to everyone.
This is a bug, not a missing option. I just hope @Michael.J responds soon, as this can be quite serious.

The relevant code is on lines 45–47 in the theme file forums > front > topics > postContainer:
    {{elseif $comment->author()->joinedRecently()}} <span class="cAuthorPane_badge cAuthorPane_badge--new" data-ipsTooltip title="{lang="member_is_new_badge" sprintf="$comment->author()->name"}"></span> {{endif}} I've kept the badge, but changed it to something a bit more positive:
/* Change the icon for new members */ .cAuthorPane_badge--new::before { content: "\f25b"; } Which results in this:

    I agree, @Runar.
Support ticket was #67332. I noted that it may be a load balancing thing then. I don't permanently accept security warnings to bypass them, and when they told me they couldn't reproduce, I tried again then and the links worked without any errors.
These links are everywhere in older posts, and I provided this link in the ticket:

As others have already mentioned, it's not always that simple. I help manage one of the larger communities, with over 25 million posts running on multiple servers, and upgrading to a new version involves long periods of testing. When we actually do upgrade, it's a complicated process to prevent messing something up for our thousands of members.
I completely understand that you want everyone to be using the most recent version, but there are several valid reasons for not upgrading immediately after a new release.

You're correct, and personally I'd like to see the community I referred to updated more frequently. However, updating during the beta period is not really an option, as things change quite often and things can and will break.
Another point is that some updates require you to make changes on the server side. For instance, 4.5 recommends PHP version 7.4 and future versions of Invision Community will drop support for older versions of PHP. Yes, I know PHP 7.2 is three years old and that you should keep your servers up to date as well, but realistically that's not always possible.
Finally — and this is something I don't think anyone can argue against — some people simply don't want to update. Apple doesn't force their users to update their iPhones and iPads to the latest version of iOS. Sure, they recommend it and more and more apps will stop working on older versions of iOS, but you don't get a banner taking up half the screen everywhere if you're on an older version.

For everyone else, I'm currently working on a huge update with support for 4.5. The new version will be an application instead of a plugin, as this makes it far easier to provide new functionality.
In addition to official support for 4.5, I'm working on the following new features:
Choose between multiple markers when marking a topic. Set custom background color and text color on the marker badges. Choose marker badge position (before or after topic title). Send notifications to topic starters when their topics are marked and/or unmarked. Support for "Questions" forums. I hope to release the new version later this week or early next week.
Suggestions for more features are always welcome!
