We are currently in the beginning stages of developing a Courses and Lessons application within Invision Community. This will only be available on our cloud services as a value addition. We receive regular requests for Learning Management System (LMS) capabilities in Invision Community and the Courses app will start us down that path. The Courses app is not going to try to be a full LMS. Not trying to run a university here 🙂 But we do think there is value in offering basic LMS capabilities within a community context. Some features we are already doing: Ability to create Courses with multiple Modules Modules can have multiple content items that …

Hi, I would like to point out in advance that I am starting this topic to hear the official position of IPS, not to make fun of etc. You constantly negate external infrastructures in favor of your cloud. And how will you explain your TOTAL DOWNTIME 12h 42m in the last 7 days? I would like to add that my dedicated server has had 100% UPTIME for a year. But if I was paying that much money for a cloud and seeing a 500 error for 8 hours, I would have given up on the service pretty quickly. Now let's imagine that during downtime some big business forum has important Live Topics?

We deployed WebP support today for both US and EU regions. This was honestly an oversight on our part and I want to thank @Dll for pointing out that WebP was not properly enabled.

Happy Hump Day. Identifying what members are frequently searching for is an important job for community managers. Built directly into the statistics panel of your ACP is a section that includes the most-searched-for keywords. Understanding what people search for helps you: Improve upon those items Create more content around the term(s) Provide further clarity for people who search for the word or phrase in the future Because of the importance of search, we made some major improvements! You may have noticed Invision Community introduced an update to our Search Bar user interface. @AlexJ certainly did 😜. Previously, the …

We will soon be announcing some statistics and reporting improvements that will be available to both Cloud Platform and Classic self-hosted editions of Invision Community. Look out for a blog entry on that soon! I did want to talk about one addition to reporting and statistics that will not be available on Classic and do a quick preview: per-item reports. You will be able to see a view of the popularity of a section (specific forum, gallery album, download category, etc.) or item (forum topic, gallery image, file, etc.) over a time period. For example, you could see a graph showing which hour/day/week/month had the most views in an individual topic. Right now, s…

We are deploying updates to our backend cache layer today. This change should see decreased latency for logged in members. While a small change, multiplied over every click for every member it will make a noticeable difference. This change does not impact guests/bots (those not logged in) as those views are handled by the CDN. You may see up to 10 minutes of slowness at some point today while the change deploys.

I wanted to let everyone know that we will soon be eliminating page views as a limiter on all our current offered packages. Advancements in our underlying infrastructure have made it not as important to meter based on traffic.

Welcome to this week's Invision Insight! I'm keeping things short and sweet this week! The majority of our work has been on getting Live Topics closer to a beta release. We are very excited about this feature and can't wait to share it with you! If you haven't done so already, please check out our sneak peek. Patches I have noticed some discussions lately regarding patches, and in some instances, they may be missed by community managers. Not all patches seem to be a critical issue or security risk, but it is definitely ideal to action the patch to ensure your community continues running smoothly. Happy Hump Day, team! Sort of. 😔 One of Invision Community's founding fathers, @Rikki, is amicably moving on from Invision Community to pursue another exciting opportunity. This is his last week with us. He has a few parting words to share with you: Rikki has been an instrumental player in Invision Community's success; we're bummed to see him go, but at the same time excited for him to spread his wings. Please leave some well wishes for Rikki in the comments! --- Speaking of the team, @Matt Finger wrote a new dev blog post touching on the PHP8 Compatibility Scanner, our Pre-Upgrade Resource Checker and a full change log for our upcomi…
