Hey team, happy Hump Day! I'm super excited about our new theme service and wanted to share the news with you. I come in peace! With that said, I want to be transparent with you that this theme service is for those on one of our standard plans. If you've been contemplating moving from self-hosted to our hosting, give me a shout and I'll personally help you get set up. 😇 I wrote a blog post about the importance of branding, so just want to put that on your radar. I can personally attest to the power of awesome branding (if I do say so myself). I run a community, and members tell me all the time how much they love the theme / branding. It was created by our…

Happy Hump Day! I've been working on a new blog post about the dos and don'ts when it comes to community moderation/guidance. Before I share it with you on Friday, I'd love to know your thoughts! What is something you should do when moderating your community. How about something that you ought to avoid? Something that immediately came to mind for me is moderating on the offense versus the defense. Generally speaking, most view moderation as a restrictive tool that takes power away from the community. A member posts profanity? Moderate! A topic goes live in the wrong section? Moderate! A spam bot infiltrates the latest blog entry? Moderate, moderate, moder…

Hey team, happy Hump Day! It's officially the last one of 2021. 😢 But there are many more to come (don't all cheer at once) 😆! New Year's Resolutions tend to be hit or miss for many. I personally love them because I love moments in life where we can set a new goal during a time of renewal. The beginning of a new year feels transformative. Please share your New Year's Resolution(s) in the replies. It doesn't necessarily need to be community-related. I think if you accomplish a goal, it will translate to a better community anyway; everyone wins! We can fire up this topic in a year from now and see how things went. I'll start: mine is to be more f…

Happy Hump Day, team! Can you believe we're only a few weeks away from 2022? Since the holidays are fast approaching, I figured it'd be a great opportunity to get our community in the festive spirit. Since we've shared a lot of amazing platform updates and community management tips with you in recent weeks (pssst check out our blog posts!), I wanted to make this edition of Hump Day a little lighter. Your mission: find the elf on a shelf I hid somewhere in our community forum. 🤫 Winner gets bragging rights and a shout-out! Happy Hump Day! Wanted to pass along some exciting developments. We've been wanting to improve our search capabilities within the platform. We started by adding more Elastic Search functionality in a few areas on our own community. For example, in the sidebar of our topics, you'll notice the previously-existing 'Similar Content' widget. It now includes Elastic Search to offer, hopefully, a better list of related topics for you. Essentially what it's doing is looking at a topic title and finding similar words in other titles, then ranks the most relevant (previously it was pulling by tag). Here's an example. This topic includes Cloudlfare in the title. Thi…

Happy Hump Day, team! I've been thinking a lot about what it means to nurture your existing community. Oftentimes, we're so focused on getting new members and subscribers that we forget to show gratitude for members who are already contributing/visiting. Here are some ideas to show your current members some love: Create a topic highlighting a few awesome posts. Which reminds me, shout-out to @Michael R ad @kmk for these 😊: I'm a big fan of sending a Bulk Mail newsletter to your most-engaged user groups. It's a great way to connect with your die-hards off the platform. It's a little extra leg work, but members appreciate it. …

Happy Hump Day! We're officially inching towards the new year. 🤯 It's a great time to reflect. Invision Community introduced a bunch of new features, updates and fixes this year. Which one was your favorite? In 2021, we launched no-code automation with our Zapier integration, added web push notifications, offline support, stock replies and new reporting metrics. We also improved spam management, SEO crawl efficiency, Clubs, Activity Streams and introduced a native gamification system named Achievements (my personal fav). Achievements was even improved based off of your feedback! 👏 And don't forget about the recent Elastic Search implementations. As th…

Hey team, happy Thump Day! We moved this week's edition of Hump Day to Thursday to give you a moment to read our new blog post on the Achievements upgrade included in our new release 4.6.8 (out now!). There's also a great blog post (if I do say so myself 😏) about the new stats and reporting metrics in 4.6.8 (again, out now!). Have you updated your community to 4.6.8 yet? Notice any improvements? Dug into the moderator stats? Here's a screen shot from my own community. It shows the warnings issued by our moderation team in the last month. Pretty interesting, right? I love that I can see now what the recurring warnings are so that we can come up with bette…

Happy Hump Day, team. I wanted to kick off today's hump day post with a bit of news. Curious to know your thoughts. TL;DR: Facebook may re-brand. Facebook is, and has been, under intense scrutiny. They are considering a name-change, The Verge reports. It's rumored the re-branding encompasses Facebook's 'metaverse,' a mission to combine virtual and augmented reality technologies into one unified online world. It is believed Facebook will hire 10,000 new employees for this endeavor. We might know more information on the new name come Oct. 28 – the date of Facebook's annual Connect conference – CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to sp…

Happy Hump Day, team! In September, we're launching our refreshed website. You're going to love it! (Hopefully) it will inspire others to start their community building journey with us. We are working on our new homepage right now, and one thing we're discussing as a team is Invision Community's mission statement. Per Forbes, a great mission statement answers: What do we do? How do we do it? Whom do we do it for? What value are we bringing? If you visit our current homepage, you will see this: Successful Communities Start Here We help businesses and brands of all sizes increase customer loyalty, reduce support costs and dri…

Happy Hump Day, team! In case you missed it, we have a bumpin' topic asking for feedback/ideas regarding Achievements - we'd like to implement a few "quick wins" based off of your suggestions, so if you haven't already please check out that topic and submit a reply. It'd be greatly appreciated! We also have a topic on the way regarding Spam Improvements - ideas you think would benefit the platform. Hold off on sharing those in this topic please - for now just think about it - that topic will drop on Friday so get ready Because it's a new month, I wanted to focus this post on goal-setting. I know, I know, it's corny, but setting goals is imperative for comm…
