I had my site on shared hosting and used Softplus GStire Crawler and it always worked great, generating sitemaps that worked with google. Now that I have moved to VPS hosting I can't seem to get it right. The sitemaps I submit Google is only finding a few links. It's something about the path I'm sure, but I am just lost. If anyone has time to lend a hand, please contact me. I could use the help getting the site back to using sitemaps. Google has found me, and is crawling the site, but only finding maybe the index page and one other, but I don't know what I am doing wrong that the sitemaps aren't usable by Google. Thanks,

Hello, I finished configuring and hardening the new VPS, but i'm worried about mysql overloading, and I'm not sure what to do in the configuration file. What my.cnf configuration do you suggest to use on mysql for an IPB running on 1.25 GB RAM - CPU type: Intel® Xeon® CPU X3460 @ 2.80GHz , 2 cores 256 ram already used for LAMP, so 1 GB free. And how to reduce the number of queries shown in the debug bar. Regards.

Hi, Since so many members are using fast cgi. I wanna ask if anyone is using Fast CGI with Apache? Is IPB compatible with Fast CGI? And what kind of cache are you using with this kind of setup? Thank you.

We have installed a sitemap generator which has presets for Exclusion URL's and Do Not Parse URL's for every forum, it seems, except ipb... which means we need a list. Example: vbulletin exclude URL's: attachment.php calendar.php cron.php editpost.php image.php member.php memberlist.php misc.php newattachment.php newreply.php newthread.php online.php private.php profile.php register.php search.php usercp.php goto= p= sort= order= mode= A list of urls common to ipb that should not be site-mapped would be appreciated immensely.

Hi, I am thinking to use PAC as an alternate cache. I've been using using memcached, however after upgrading to IPB 3.1.2, the forum has become slow. If I install APC, what IPB content is going to be cached? What are the best settings to use APC with IPB? For example, apc.stat = off, query cache enabled, etc. Will APC cache database queries? And anyone using APC here? Thank you.

Hi all, I just tried to run buildInDev.php and received an error: Warning: xcache_set(): xcache.var_size is either 0 or too small to enable var data caching in ... I went to check my xcache stats and found that I've been getting a lot of misses! I have 512MB of RAM and I seem to have 4 Intel® Xeon® CPU L5520 @ 2.27GHz running on my VPS. Here is the current xcache config: [xcache] xcache.shm_scheme = "mmap" xcache.size = 128M xcache.count = 8 xcache.slots = 8K xcache.ttl = 3600 xcache.gc_interval = 300 ; Same as aboves but for variable cache ; If you don't know for sure th…

Guys, since upgrading from 2.3.6 we've basically lost so much traffic I'm convinced the slow page loads have to be causing an issue for members and visitors. Our VPS spec is as follows: 8 Cores at 2.26+ GHz (shared) 2Gb guaranteed RAM 120Gb RAID10 Disk Space Litespeed The server can be fine one minute, then the next we're waiting 10-15 seconds for a page to load, and even then it loads as though we're on dial-up. This can be with as few as 10 users on the site. I've noticed it doesn't really matter how many users are on, the problem is just seriously random (see screenshot). I've been working with the host who explained they were having kernel issues and t…

Hello ! :) My board has been upgraded to version 3.1.2 but I still have problems with the ibf_core_item_markers table. At moment, mysql uses about 130% cpu and at these moments I see many lines like this one in mysql processes : or this one : The only solution is to set "Enable Topic Marking Tracking?" to "No". Is there another way ? Thank you ! :)

I'm looking for some hosting advice; maybe someone can tell me if the following idea is sensible or stupid. :) At the moment, I have a dedicated server for my site. I got it because I was offered a good deal and because I could afford it okay. Now money is a little tighter and the dedicated server seems too big for my site, so I'm wondering if I should shift to IPB's hosting. My site is small and I don't really need a large server, but how do I estimate how many active users I have on average? I have a tiny number of active members most days but a lot of people (guests/visitors) read the site, so I can go from as little as 20 users to 150. I could try to move to IPB's h…

Hello everyone, My site has become large enough that we're outgrowing shared hosting. Knowing that this was coming, I recently signed up for a very good deal through a reputable host for a VPS. This is a fully managed WHM/Cpanel vps with Apache & CentOS (yes, I've considered & continue to consider Litespeed). I have no plans to host other sites on this vps, just my IPB board along with its test site which is always kept offline (I have the test site up & running on the vps, but have not yet moved the live site). I went with a fully managed solution due to the fact that I'm very new to server management. But what I'm wondering is how much I need to pay a…

Just curious what the general consensus on enabling this function at a global level would be (since it sounds like that's the only way to enable it)?

I posted this elsewhere but realize now it was probably in the wrong place so no answers there. I am trying to learn how to operate a VPS, unmanaged. I have got it set up and running, with ioncube installed and my practice board works on it. However, when I view Online users it always shows 60-61, which is me and what looks like a loop or echo of my sites IP address and local host 127.0.0.1 I'm very newbie on setting up the network, and firewall of the site. Any insight on what is causing this in the online users? In case it makes any difference, I have no domain associated with the site, I just go to it right now via IP address for learning. Thanks for any help,

I installed MAMP on my mac for a dev board. I installed IPB just fine but after it completed successfully when loading my board I get "Could not determine your IP address" After googling it for a while I found a french board that said to Enter the following code in the conf_global.php file $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] = '127.0.0.1'; That worked, but why is it that IPB doesn't work in this case, and can that be fixed?

Hello all. I have a remote dedicated server running ubuntu 64bit server edition. I have installed lamp, ionCube, ftp and freenx and configured apache2 so i can add a couple of sites should i want to. I also have a teamspeak3 and shoutcast servers running. But i'm having problems connecting to port 22 with putty and nx. It was fine untill i tried to install a few things that i didn't like/need and then uninstalled them. In short theres loads of orphan crap files on there and somethings messing with that port as far as i know. My site workes fine but its no good if i cant access the server to install other things i want like game servers etc. My provider suggested backi…

Hi, I hope someone can assist me :) I want to be able to export the information about one of my member groups, so that we can list the members and review who should remain in that Group. The Group contains over 70 members, so I was wondering how to somehow get this information into a Spreadsheet, or if it can be done using a mySQL query. (I also want to be able to include Member using it as a Secondary Group if that helps!) Thanks in advance, Mark

Background: I'm running CentOS 5.3 (linux) with mysql 5.0.58. My IPB site has around 500 users online and 700,000 posts. I've spent the best part of a week learning about tuning mysql instead of blindly using my-huge.cnf, or randomly plugging in values. I've written my findings here as there appears to be a load of anecdotes and misinformation out there on this topic. I'm still a newbie though so if you find that something I've said it utterly wrong then let me know! For the purposes of this guide I'll assume you have a simple dedicated server with web server and mysql on the same box and the main database being run by mysql is IPB. That said, I think most of the conce…
