Hi, According to cPanel 5.1. is now well and truly EOL. The only other option to me at this point via cPanel is 5.5 (unless installing directly) Would you recommend an upgrade or should 5.1.7 be just fine for now? Thanks.

Out forum is mostly InnoDB, with just the posts, topics, and messages tables as MyISAM. Our host was helping with some issues the other day and noticed that those large tables were still MyISAM and suggested that we switch to InnoDB for performance reasons. On the surface this seems reasonable, but I'm wondering if there is a better way of determining whether we would see any benefit from going to MyISAM (for the record, we use Sphinx for searching, so fulltext is not an issue). What factors do I need to consider when deciding whether to do this switch, and what sorts of things could I measure or look for in the logs to see if it would matter to us?

Profile statistics like profile views keep getting stuck and stop counting. IPB support told me the following: I contacted my VPS provider, Bluehost - they said I had to do it myself. I have NO idea what to do... Can anyone help?

I was a bit torn on where to post this, in IP.Board support, feedback or here. But I guess the best place to start is here. I've spent some time figuring out what the board spend time on. On Monday I was able cut down load time on all pages by 30 milliseconds because some custom code retrieved some information that were never used. I also was able to cut down 130 milliseconds on the frontpage in our custom skins, since IP.Board loaded some information for the board index that we never display there. It seems that since we have 370 forums, a lot of the server response time is spent on loading the forums, obviously. Since all the forums is loaded into $th…

OK I was in this hospital and was laid up for a week and my bill came due (Should paid all year in advance) :-) So within only 4 days they suspended my account. It is a self managed hosting plan so while my knowledge is intermediate on VPS I know enough to handle most issues. Well they reactivated the service since we got that all straightened out but now when I pull up the site I cannot access it. My FTP and email works fine, When i look at the services running Apache is running. I ran command to restart Apache and rebooted the server. I can ping the domain but I cannot get the site to come up. This is not the best company and moving form them immediately but can so…

Hello Guys, I recently attempted to upgrade a kernel on my vps last night when something horribly went wrong. When I restarted the vps, I couldn't access putty, so when I went thru the VNC control panel thru the host I use, apparently somehow the network within the vps got completely messed up. I cant even ping google.com... I am desperate need of help, I am not sure where to start. Please help. Thanks, Jake

A client was recently complaining that his users were getting some pop-up surveys on his website, after looking into this it was discovered that Viglink are inserting 3rd party tracking software into every site their integration is used on. If you use VigLink look via Firebug at your page and you will discover <script type="text/javascript" src="//b.scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js"> Which is inserted by the following code: window.vglnk.partners_plugin = function (k, e) { var b = "https:" === document.location.protocol, w = { setup: function () { window._comscore = window._comscore || [] }, run: …

Hello, I face some problems of slow queries, after a log analysis found that the query below is affecting the performance of my community. SELECT COUNT( * ) as cnt FROM ipb_members m WHERE m.members_l_display_name !='' AND m.members_l_display_name IS NOT NULL AND m.member_group_id NOT IN(5) AND m.member_banned=0 AND ( ! ( members_bitoptions & 1 ) != 0) ; +----------+ | cnt | +----------+ | 507541 | +----------+ 1 row in set (3.31 sec) It would be possible to create index, safely, to improve the performance of query?? Making it clear that I have no hooks installed, only the ipb 3.4.6.

Having some issues with mysql 5.5 on a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server. The server is not taxed. Its running at about 8 - 15% when these occur. About every 5 - 10 minutes I'm seeing two errors. Error: 2013 - Lost connection to MySQL server during query Error: 2006 - MySQL server has gone away Finding many webpages on this subject but often conflicting and vague. My question is, are others seeing these errors regularly? Is it something to be concerned about? Strange thing is I only see them in the SQL error logs within the ACP. Thanks for the assistance.

Want to share with you something that I found onver the internet. As I mentioned in this thread I had huge character issues. The table fields in my db were bulgarian_1251, table collations were sometimes utf8, some database connections were even latin1. I tried looking for converters - the new IPC converter is still buggy, there are others around the internet that didn't work either. Anyway, here is a method to get your database in utf8 order that is extremly clean and at least for me - 100% working. 1. dump your current database, with its current charset. mysqldump --default-character-set=cp1251 --no-tablespaces -h host -u user -pPassword -B database > mybd.sql …

I am on a server that uses PLESK as its Control Panel. I have a need for a single subdomain to be able to use the exec() call from a PHP script. In PLESK I can only do this if I set the subdomain to use Fast_CGI or CGI versions of PHP, and not Apache mod_php. What are the pros and cons of CGI variants, especially for Ip.Board?

Using nginx. Cloudflare is disabled. Getting error 502 while trying to install IP.Nexus. All timeouts are already configured as 300 seconds: fastcgi_buffers 8 16k; fastcgi_buffer_size 32k; fastcgi_read_timeout 300; fastcgi_connect_timeout 300; fastcgi_send_timeout 300; proxy_read_timeout 300; Error happens immediately after hitting the "Install" button. Which leads me to believe it is not a timeout issue, as on timeout issues usually the browser keeps loading the page until the timeout happens. Zend Guard is installed as below. Notice the "no value" for the "License Path", as php.ini file has only: ;Zend Guard Loader zend_extension=/usr/local/php/li…

I need a whole boat load of help and it doesn't seem like my host or IP.board is prepared to help me in any way. My site BtownBanners.com constantly is crashing my server (VPS w/ Bluehost) and nobody seems to figure out why. IP says it's Bluehost, Bluehost says it's IP. Can anyone give me some assistance in getting this all solved? I'm not very tech friendly, but I'll do my best to provide whatever is needed to get this thing figured out. My site can't afford to keep crashing like this...

Could someone advice me on server requirements for ipboard? Would 1 CPU core VPS be suitable for a site that has 360K total post, 1400 total members but at any given time there are only like 20-40 members...though spikes up to 40-70 at peak times? Or would i need higher?

Again few questions from me. To start, this is my VPS: 1GB Ram, 2CPU cores. My community is about 1700 uniques per day, top activity 100 online including bots. There is another wordpress blog on the server, but it is not very active and I have W3Total Cache, which I hope helps. Anyway, back to my IPS community. First, the APC cache. Everything under fcgid works good, unfortunately due to the fact that it need a separate cache for each process I am starting to run out of memory. I need about 80MB of RAM for APC, is that good or bad, how it is compared to you? I have quite a few extra apps - content, gallery, tutorials, video, faq. I started with 64MB, but noticed that …

I've just exported my database, I realize that it's around 107mb on my current host but the one I'm moving to - 88mb. I'm a total newbie here, although it seems it's the 'overhead' section of the database. Is this normal? Could anyone explain how I export the overhead as well? Thanks

Not really about running a server, but I just switched from one provider to another for my internet and the ping times on sites such as speedtest and pingtest are double to quadruple that of the old service. A lot of times sites are hanging when I click links before they finally switch over. Is that likely going to continue or is there anything which would give any hope that it improves and is only behaving that way in the beginning? I know compared to the old days of dialup it's picky to be som annoyed by like 3 seconds of hanging before a site switches over, but Iit is mighty annoying after years of immediate page switches and may not be worth it to me to stay to just s…

Hello, Although we have a decent dedicated server Intel Xeon X3330 @ 2.66 GHz, 4GB of RAM, 2 sata hdd(one for the webserver and for the sql server) and it's moving really slowly. In the sql error log(acp -> stats & logs -> sql error logs) many "MySQL server has gone away appear" and "Connection refused" messages. I opened a ticket on invisionpower.com and they said that my sql server is really slow, timing out and refusing connections. We use nginx and percona mysql server. Here are the configs my.cnf nginx.conf The board has 40k members, 2.6kk posts and about 1000-1500 users activ…

Hi, Following this topic about varnish I decided to try an alternative. Since i was running nginx this was easy step. A quick note ... this is a learning by progress idea and you must evaluate all the benefits of using it. I have this working in my board with a page load time decrease of + 60% tested with Gomez Web Site Performance Test for guests, since this only cache content for unregistered members. You only need nginx + fastcgi / proxy* + ssi (* I didn't test with proxy_cache but it may work) Somewhere in you http block configuration add: ### Map Mobile map $http_user_agent $is_mobile { default 0; ~*android|ip(hone|od)|windowss+(?:ce|phone) 1; …

I installed ip.board on my own server which meets all the requirements. I am trying to convert my phpbb 3.0 database and I messed something up. Let me explain what I did and maybe someone can help. 1. I downloaded the conversion script and moved the files in the upload folder to my server. 2. AdminCP I installed the converter Application; which was under, Manage Applications & modules "Applications Not Installed". Note: During installation the my browser was flickering, and I seen a link during the installation.. that said something like this.. click here if the webpage does not redirect. I waited a few minutes didn't see anything new so I click the l…

New server has 2 drives, one SSD, one HDD, no RAID. In the past, with a similar configuration but two HDD, we put everything on one drive, and used the other drive as a backup. My question -- is there any value in splitting content between the two drives? Currently, the OS is on the SSD, and I plan to put the DB on there as well. Would any benefit be expected from putting all our static content on the HDD, so that not everything is coming from one drive, or is the effect from that likely to be minimal?
