On my board I view my profile and the list of friends seems to take over the page.. I think it would look better if there was a tab after "About Me" named "Friends".

Hello, I would like to suggest a feature, The ability to hide categories (and underneath forums) and forums from boardindex. This feature is not related to permissions, just the ability to hide a category / forum from BoardIndex. Just an example, showing how to hide a category / forum Thank you.

I'd like to be able to filter words ONLY in Topics, Posts, and Shoutbox shouts. I don't want to filter Names, Fields, etc.

Was curious about the health of my database and so I searched for which tables in my database were the biggest in terms of total size of data storage. Saw that the openid_temp table was one of the biggest tables on my site, which surprised me since I only enabled the OpenID login method as an afterthought. Checking that table out I see that on my small site it has nearly 10,000 rows of data in it, and is a few MB in size. Browsing the contents of the table, I see what looks to me like a ton of spam URLs. Is there any benefit to maybe doing something like pruning this table as part of a task? Certainly, there shouldn't be any need to keep these junk signing attempts,…

One Week In

Just dropping by, and giving an update after a week in the system. No doubt that when you first jump into bed with IP. that (for me it was and is) a little confusing, having grown up on a died and fed VB as an internet child, taking to a new custom was like talking a new language. And it was only in accident that I found IP. , but what a happy one that was, and as yet i really do not understand all of the working and am still confused by many parts of the system (and would love an all in guide i could sit and read), but slowly one module at a time the jigsaw puzzle that is IP.Suite is starting to look like a picture. Very impressed so far, and happy with not only th…

I haven't seen this feature yet, so I'm gonna put it out there. phpBB has this auto-prune feature that you can set for forums. It will prune every (insert number here) days topics that havent been viewed for (insert number here) days or posted to in (insert number here) days. I really like that feature and would like to see it in IP.Board please. :)

Hi, I think there should be a built-in sitemap plugin in IPB. Sitemap is an important feature and I believe everyone would use it. Thank you.

You might think of disabling the "choose language" area if there is only one language installed on the board. Less clutter, the better it is for SEO :D

Hello, I saw this on a board I was a member of way back in like.. 2006. There I had the option to, when posting a new topic, tick a box that would make my topic entirely anonymous. Instead of showing my username it displayed the forum's default anonymous username(which at the time was "Anonymous User") and no post count or any of that information. No link to a profile or anything. Basically, it's like a guest posted the message - but without the fuzz of having to log off and possibly encounter various priveledge problems. I found that system very nice. I don't know, because I haven't read your licence that extensively, if you support boards that are involved in sexual…

I don't know if this has been suggested before, and I'm sorry if it has been suggested and rejected - I couldn't be bothered to search since it could be called a lot of things. What it does Allows users to create collections of threads. These collections can either be public, registered, only-friends or private. The uses of this feature are numerous. Linking and subscriptions Users can link to their collections so other users can view them. Other users can also view user collections on profiles in a specific tab. Each collection can be subscribed to(if enabled) and that subscription can be 1 out of 3 different subscription possibilities. Subscribe to the collecti…

If user accounts are individuals, then it makes sense to think of social groups as a "corporation". A corporation can use many of the services an individual uses: It can have a bank account, a cell phone account, or own a house. In the same way, a "social group" as I see it would have many of the same features as an individual account. It would be able to upload files, images, and it would have a profile. It might even have a blog. I don't suggest allowing a social group to comment on the forum, but the analogy is a pretty good one. Why use social groups? They might not be useful for some forums, but for my forum they would be extremely useful. My users form gam…

I'm trying to add a drop down menu to some of my navbar tabs, & I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this. I've been searching all around google, & I haven't found anything that is leading me in the right direction.

I appreciate Matt and the team have their own plans and are probably well on their way with 3.2, but here's what I'd like to see for CycleChat: View new content - Show what is actually new (unread) content; show topics only (as opposed to multiple posts from the same topic).Hover preview (really liking the new version) - To work on forum view, all search results, and personal conversations - with ACP options for trigger time, and post-hover fade time.Thread marking - to mark up to where I have actually read in a thread, rather than marking the whole thing as read. (Matt has said this is on the list - yippee! )Lighter CSS - There's tons of the stuff ... can it…

In short, when you reply to someone's post, currently you can only quote that whole post each time, then edit it manually to leave just the right sentence you want to reply to. Or, you need to do even more cumbersome manual quote edit instead. It seems a lot more convenient and natural to select a particular sentence in a post you want to reply to, then click a button to have this sentence quoted into your reply, then reply to it. If not done, then select another sentence to reply to from the same or different user's post, click a button to quote it in your reply, ...go on until you're done. :) This Poll is intended to find out, whether DO YOU care in general about t…

(I dare say IPS could use this as well.) Suggestion 1 The current moderating team page is very generic. It shows a list of administrators, forum moderators, and global moderators. However, it does not differentiate between any user groups. Example: (No, I don't use these groups) Usergroup 1: Webmaster Usergroup 2: Administrator Usergroup 3: Trainee administrator Usergroup 4: Super moderator Usergroup 5: Moderator Usergroup 6: Programmer (Moderates the programming forums) Usergroup 7: Designer (Moderates the graphics forums) If there were, say, 2 users in each group, I would normally expect each group to be shown separately. Example Webmaster Name 1, all …

Hi, Over at ThemeForest.com what makes a nice touch and also the members find very appealing is the fact they can be assigned multiple awards that appear under their avatar. They's a multitude of different types 16x16 icons e.g. Moderator, Spam Buster, Member has refered 1-9 users (Could be used with Nexus), Member's Birthday today, Member has 100-500 posts etc etc.... It would be absolutely fantastic if invision could offer a rewards/stackable badges that we can define e.g. Reward Title: [ ] Icon path: [ ] For the dynamic options: (This would be for the goals like reach x amount of posts or) This is for he predefined ones like posts/birthdays we c…

Is there currently an option the UCP that allows us to Auto-Subscribe via email to every TOPIC we post but not necessarily every POST we make? Because I know most topics I post are questions I have and want a way to see replies when I'm away yet posts are me just joining a conversation and not really something I'd care to receive a notification about. Anyways if there isn't a way, then there should be.

I would like to make the suggestion of possibly having it so that the topic displays above all posts on every page of a thread. In very active threads, when people click the most recent topic response, they have to go all the way back to the first page to see the topic itself. Just to use something as an example, I'm providing this link to a commmunity site I used to use where their forums are very popular & the style is also: http://www.crushspot.com/forums/topic.php?cat=1&topic=1535438&page=3 That's an announcment, but as you can see it's on the third page & the topic is still featured at the top above all other posts on that page. If I submitted…

It seems to me that the development of addons by third parties is way behind vbulletins and thereby IPS its weak spot. But I am a newbie here, so I may be missing things. This makes me wonder what IPS does to stimulate the development of addons? I did notice that the coding of IPB has been greatly improved to accommodate plugins. But other than that? Does IPS do anything to increase coding quality of addons?

Hi Guys, Firstly, let me say that I am SERIOUSLY impressed with your software. I just moved from Vbulletin about 2 weeks ago. However, there are a few things that's, to me at least, missing, or could be improved a bit. That's me for now, but thanks again for a great piece of software, and I hope some of these makes it into a future release :) Report Center: Allow some moderation functions in this please. In fact, make it act like a hidden forum? Put up some sort of unread feature, so that I can see which reported items I have read, and which contains unread posts by another moderator. Perhaps allow Admins to delete posts in there, edit posts, etc? If it acts like a…

Hey guys! I have a suggestion for the validation process. Our board requires user validation after registration. The "problem" is when an administrator validates a user before the user himself clicks the link in the email. When the user clicks the validation link, he will get the error #10120, that it does not exist a validation pending on that address. This is due to that the user is already validated by admin. If that is the case, it should change the texting to something like "Your account is already been validated by an administrator" or something. What you think about that?
