7a is failing to upgrade for me. I've downloaded the version from the ACP and from the client area, both to no avail. I get an EX0 error, saying "An unknown error occurred ". On the bright side, the ACP still works. Are there any IPS-specific logs I can check (PHP isn't giving me any errors)? Also checked the dir and group permissions on everything.

As the new architure of the software IPS 4 demands specific Apache executions, I would like to know which is the best Apache MPM for IPS 4: Prefork, Worker or Event? It would be nice if the IPS staff could sugest the best server configuration for the software, including database type (mysql 5.6 or MariaDB 10), database settings, php handler, etc.

Let me just start by saying hello again, it's been nearly 5 years since I last posted on here and since I last sat down and used IPB properly and I must say version 4 has come on leaps and bounds from v3, hats off to Matt and co! Just a quick question for those who have been playing around with this longer than I have, whats the best way to go about having a template with a fixed position header, specifically with the drop down menus on the create button, etc. which are positioned absolutely in relation to the entire page rather than the parent container? This is how my ACP currently looks in 3.4.x when I view manage records for my database in 4.0 this is now how it looks as you can see it has removed all the filed display from view and now it shows me last modified date and category if any. I cant sort it, and search now can only be done by title. I have over 36,000 records in this database alone that I am constantly in there daily updating records for. I could simply just click on the record number and it would take me to that record where I could edit it, this option is removed as long with everything else. makes the app totally useless for me If this remains I think 4.0 is not for me as it totally remove…

Just noticed with Commerce installed. Statistics - Sales - Markets and lo and behold a filterable world map appears which I imagine will fill out really nicely once I import some data. The blog posts kinda stopped and we never really got one for Commerce (did we for Pages? Chat I know we didn't) but I'm still discovering some really nice things buried in unexpected places. Between the improved system wide statistics and that never discussed EasyPost integration you guys have a lot to talk about - in a good way. Obligatory request: I think people will yell quite a lot if you don't geoip member registrations and duplicate the above map for the member section of statistics…

I am in the process of learning to develop applications for IPB4. My current target is to create a 'Hello world' kind of application that allows the user to go to a page that says 'Hello world'. I have created an application, and poked around in it's developer center, but I have not yet even been able to access my 'blank' application. Can someone please point me in the right direction in order to achieve a hello world application? Thanks Sidenote: I don't want to create a page in the pages application. I want to learn to build more complex applications (ie migration scripts), and this is the first baby step.

Hi, I can see the IPS4 framework uses Geolocation from GeoIP. As far as I know, the geoip official database is updated every month. => is there a task in the IPS framework that updates regularly its geolocation database? Thanks,

I ask this question because I would like to have similar apps to the IPS4 Resources Bug Tracker and Documentation apps for my site. But, I don't want to have to implement these apps myself in Pages since it will take some time and effort to set them up for my site (learning Pages just to implement these apps would be a low priority to me). My suggestion is that IPS provide these apps as a free download in the marketplace that can be imported into my Pages installation to give me a starting point to using them on my site. Anyone any idea where this is located? I've hunted and cannot find this at all, I can find the css for this but I'm looking to add a logo to it and a little "EE" type thing to it, clicking the image or upon page load I was going to have the following quote play. Which is just a wee play on finding the admin CP (only staff will have access, but I thought I would add a wee EE for them) as they'll appreciate it.

Hey IPS guys, In previous versions of IPB we had default Articles layout/template that was different compared to the ones of other Pages databases. I found it very useful. Do you guys still intend to have such a default articles layout/template for IPS 4. I asked a similar question in the previous beta version forum (the url that is not accessible any more) and I remember that there was even a screenshot posted with the intended default articles layout/template for IPS 4. Did you change your mind? Let me know and keep up the good work!

We are getting a custom Paypal Plugin made that supports adaptive payments. The developer has everything working except Paypal is not reporting back through IPN to the IP Board that the payment was accepted (normal not AP payments work fine), therefore every AP purchase shows up as pending in IP Board even though it was paid successfully. He asked me to inquire about IPN for IP Board. There is a list of file storage settings but there is no indication as which of these will spawn their own additional sub directories for files at the specified path, or if they create a selfnamed directory at the desired path for files. I must say I am really impressed with 4.0 so far. Right now I am using 3.4 for my radio station website. I retired my Christian discussion forum back in March of this year after a decade of operation. My radio station will be closing up operations in June of this year so I will have no need for a forum for it. 4.0 makes me want to start up a new forum. I probably wont, but what I see so far makes me want to. Great job IPB, you guys are miles ahead of the competition.

I am trying to allow a certain usergroup to see that content has been hidden, but it should not be able to see the actual content itself (anymore). However I haven't found out yet how to do that, so maybe I am missing something very obvious here. Let's take for example the default members group with all its standard permissions. How can I achieve that the usergroup can see if a topic has been hidden by a moderator/admin,can see the reason why the topic has been hidden,but cannot see the content (topic, comment, post etc.) itself?

The account settings page only shows “Password ********” but where can the user actually change it? There is no tab or button for it. (Same for email address) I also don’t see user group options for allowing/disallowing the change. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

When I create an article it creates in entry in a forum as it should. The only problem is the forum entry is only a link, is there away to actually have the article post into the forum and not just a link?

will having a upgraded beta of live site have any impact on existing site's nexus - I wouldn't want any background tasks in the beta Commerce to attempt to cancel or send out invoices and the like while testing - is there a way to put commerce in "testing" mode or something? I disabled billing & purchases is that all that is needed? Note beta 7 didn't upgrade the name to IP.Commerce
